  1. My son & daughter in law live in Seattle. haven't seen them since last Xmas. Even if the borders were opened, I'd still not go.
  2. I was at that game. I remember the Flame just sitting there all day like a NASA rocket whose mission was scrubbed.
  3. My fondest memory is going to my first game with my friend in 1969 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. I was 14. Going into this game, the Riders were 4-0 & we were 1-3 & on our way to a miserable 3 win season that year while the Riders were going to the Grey Cup. We bought two Salisbury House tickets for the bleachers in the South End zone for 50 cents each. This game marked the debut of former Argos starting qb Wally Gabler who we picked up for my favourite player at the time, halfback Dave Raimey. I was crushed when he was traded to the Argos but The Knife had publicly blasted HC Joe Zaleski & GM Earl Lunsford saying he wanted out because he thought the team was not committed to winning while demanding he be traded to a contender. The Bombers had finished last in the West every season since 1967 & he was tired of losing. Lunsford didn't take kindly to players going to the media criticizing him & demanding a trade so he was dispatched quickly to Toronto for Gabler. This was back in an era where the CFL was the only game in town as the NHL only had Canadian teams in Toronto & Montreal. There were no Blue Jays or Raptors. The Expos were brand new in 1969 but hadn't caught on yet with Canadians. So, this trade was a blockbuster. Headline news in every newspaper or sportscast across the country. In essence, the Bombers gave up one of the top running backs in the league for a benched former starting qb who was backing up an unknown Tom Wilkinson in Toronto. But the Bombers were desperate to find an experienced qb who had success as a starter in the league. They were prepared to give up their only superstar to get Gabler. The Bombers had cut John Schneider & their only backup at the time Rick Cassata didn't have the experience to start so they were hurting at that position. Interestingly enough, the Bombers cut Cassata that year. He ended up with the Ottawa Rough Riders & was the Grey Cup winning qb for them in 1973. With only a few practices under his belt, Gabler went out & beat the Riders 16-14 at Winnipeg Stadium. August 27, 1969.... The day I became a Blue Bomber fan forever.
  4. Jets can use the old logos for special occasions but not if they wanted to full time. Our true history belongs to Arizona. We are not free to use it any way we want.
  5. Yes you can. You can fly.
  6. That is both irresponsible & stupid.
  7. The sad part is it will be Arizona that retires his number & not us. A city he never played for & the fans could care less about. Which is why the history of the Jets should belong to us. Not Arizona. Their history started in 1996. Mark Chipman needs to work out a deal with the NHL to give us all of our history back, including the old colours & logos.
  8. Westjet is having a seat sale to the US. WTF???
  9. We need more lists relating to the Bombers. We did an All Time team thanks to True Blue 4ever so now we need to do others. The Top 10 Linebackers, etc. Something to keep us going...
  10. Double NO!
  11. I wonder if the Russians make tires?
  12. And the progressive left of the Democratic Party are upset so many Republicans are allowed to speak at the convention like John McCain's wife, Kasich & Powell. Meanwhile not realizing that is how you win elections by expanding your base & appealing to Independents & disaffected Republicans who hate Trump & may sit out this election. I swear most of these so called progressives aren't very smart. They haven't clued into that concept yet because most of them are so young their mothers still help them blow their nose & tie their shoes. One progressive female Democrat in her 30's actually said to another older white commentator in his 50's or 60's when they were both guests on CNN last night when asked to give his take on the convention Day 2 she interjected, "All due respect but the future of the Democratic Party is people like me. Not old white guys like you". No, there was no respect there at all so why even say it? Just this sense of entitlement that progressives have hijacked the party & it's theirs now. So anyone that's over 45 get the hell out & leave as we don't want you anymore. So much for a party that is for everyone.
  13. They weren't the Elks a year ago & still don't have that name. Therefore they aren't the Elks. They were the Eskimos & that is what I'm still going to call them when dealing in the past tense like past games or former players. Going forward from this point on they will be called something else & I'll have no problem doing that. For me, any reference to Edmonton's team name will still be the Eskimos from 2019 & back to 1949 when the team was formed because that was their name. Of course, the best way to get around that is to just call them Edmonton. As in, Edmonton vs Winnipeg. Or Winnipeg @ Edmonton.
  14. I made fun of Noeller calling Miller, Walters & Osh The Triad or something similar, I can't remember. I was wrong & I don't mind saying I'm sorry.
  15. But the fool on the hill Sees the sun going down And the eyes in his head Sees the world spinning round Round & round & round & round & round... This current discussion about supporting Trump & racism... is like a page long & nothing new is being said now except the same old arguments again & again by everyone on both sides. Insulting Brandon & labeling him a racist when none of you here know the man in person to be able to say that is the truth ot not is both unfair & wrong. And Brandon, you have no chance to win this argument so why dissect every post like it's your last ever? Just ignore, walk away & live to fight another day. You made your point so be done with it. You won't convince or change anyone's mind over to your position. Just like the others here won't convince you or change your mind, either. How much longer is this so called "discussion" going to go on??? How many more of the same tired & lame points need to be made over & over as well as round & round & round & round & round... by everyone? Yes, I realize the irony of me being the last guy to lecture anyone on etiquette, behaviour or decorum here as I can be quite opinionated myself but c'mon guys. This discussion is going absolutely nowhere.
  16. Hopefully this video works... https://www.tsn.ca/winnipeg-jets-icon-and-hockey-hall-of-famer-dale-hawerchuk-dead-at-57-1.1510964
  17. As if this year couldn't get any worse. Dale Hawerchuk was an incredible talent on the ice & from everything I've heard he was agentleman away from it. He was just a kid when he came to Winnipeg in 1981 & the entire Jets franchise was put on his shoulders to carry. Carry it well he did. He became the team's captain & leader, no question. Rest in Peace, Dale.
  18. So much for (according to Justin Dunk) Hamilton being the CFLs Super Team...
  19. Lindbergh should go to jail. He wants to run an event like this then he should take responsibility for any deaths.
  20. Kasich is probably the most famous Republican to endorse Biden. And he is from a midwest Rust Belt State. Trump shas to win Ohio if he has any hopes of being President.
  21. Former Republican Governor & 2016 Presidential Republican Candidate John Kasich just publicly endorsed Joe Biden on the virtual broadcast of the Democratic National Convention this ev ening. That took some guts & probably finished his political career as a Republican.
  22. Let's donate wheat.
  23. Develop a business plan that is realistic. Not get owners who can't watch expenses.
  24. I have a story for you but in this case, I won't use the name of the person who told me as he is a facebook friend & an MP in Ottawa. He is well connected to the CFL. When Ambrosie made his sales pitch last spring asking for $130 million dollars, this politician approached him & said, "I can help you. I know the members of the Committee & how to present your proposal to them. What to say, how to say it & who to say it to." Ambrosie had no interest in talking to him, getting help or finding out what tools he would need when talking to the Committee. He talked to Ambrosie a couple of times & was rebuffed eaxh time. He called the Commissioner "clueless". Well, we know what happened. Ambrosie appeared before the committee asked for $130 million. He said the CFL would fold without it. No, the Players don't know I'm here. I have no formal plan because all I want to do is get some money from you guys & we'll take care of the rest. And by the way, the teams lost $20 million dollars last season (2019). Ambrosie's initial presentation turned into a disaster & subsequent meetings afterwards where the amount of $$$ asked kept going down. Until last night we find the Liberals turned the league down flat & the season is cancelled. First impressions are everything & Ambrosie blew it
