Nice history lesson but what jobs will Canadian players be protecting if the league shuts down or ceases operations? Which is a real possibility. Pissing the fans off by shutting things down won't win them any support from the public. If the CFL does shut down then tertiary support staff will lose their jobs thru layoffs on teams & the league office. Training staff, coaches, scouts, sales & marketing people, admin & secretarial, etc. Yep, pick this hill to die on, Canuck players. Right after a pandemic. You make sure to fight like crazy to protect your jobs but to hell with the lives of everyone else. . No skin off your nose ifinnocent people have to pay bills or put food on their tables to feed their families. Selfish idiots.

This is ridiculous. If it bothers you so much call the Bombers.

Imagine if Alberta brought in a law to strengthen the English language in our province at the expense of French language rights. We'd be pillorized & labelled as racist rednecks. Trudeau would threaten bloody hell. Yet, there he is sheepishly saying, "We'll defend English rights, sort of... We think". Worrying more about votes in Quebec then English language rights. The saddest & most racist government in this country is Quebec, Alberta has nothing over those guys. Sadly, this has been proven time & time again in the past.

This potential failure to ratify the new CBA by the players, (mostly Canadians I'd say) is so ridiculous that I won't comment on it until it actually happens & we know the reasons why. All I will do is quote a line, I've used in discussions here in the past, "Be careful what you wish for as it may come true." Let's hope cooler heads prevail & it's ratified.

Interesting CFL personnel Nicknames

I remember watching 36 year old Jackie Parker come out of retirement in 1968 when all the BC Lions qbs got hurt & no one could play. I also remember how much in awe the tv announcers were at the time with him putting his helmet back on at his age with no physical preparation at all. Parker was an assistant coach with the Lions at the time & hadn't played since 1965. He played 8 games. The Lions went 2-6 when he came back but Jim Young in his book said it was the damndest thing he ever saw. In those days players didn't take care of themselves like they do today. Training camp was for getting in shape & losing the 10-15 lbs they gained over the winter. There were no protein shakes but they had steak & beer. Most players smoked. Careers didn't last much past 30 years of age. By then, players were so beat up physically they could no longer play. Especially at qb where defensive players could take their heads off. So, in 1968 when a player like Parker came back at 36 after being retired for 3 seasons he was considered a senior citizen. It was a huge deal. Not many players played until they were 36 years of age in the 1960's. Ken Ploen retired at 32. Russ Jackson was 33. Sam Etcheverry was 32. All the punishment they took wearing inferior equipment compared to today took its toll. Back then players even looked older at the same age than their counterparts of today. It's all about lifestyle, diet & nutrition. George Blanda at 46 in 1970. Tom Brady at 46. Times have certainly changed. -
Inadvertently? I'm not sure if you're serious or not? Hey, everyone gets beat. That's the nature of the game. No one ever plays a perfect game. If they did all scores would be 0-0. How many times did Bryant save Nichols ass before that with a key block? Probably plenty of times. IIRC, Nichols held onto the ball a long time on that play & had left the pocket so how realistic is it to expect an OL to hold his block? He has to taken responsibility for not getting rid of the ball sooner as he knew the rush was coming. Again, not sure of your point here so I won't jump all over you... yet.

He can say all the nice things about Edmonton that he wants. Just don't say anything negative about Winnipeg. He was treated extremely well here so why even do that? Plus, you know how Winnipeggers are. Sorta like, you can think your sister is ugly. That's okay. But if anyone else says she is then look out.

I don't know. I hope so.

I wish they'd try to get the CFL on a major sports streaming service like Dazn. Expose the game worldwide. Develop a CFL video game. Look for different revenue sources. Why does our league not even try to think big or outside the box??
