  1. That is crazy money. They still don't know what they have with him.
  2. Nope. My son had to wait months for a retest. That is literally the last stage of Driver Z. Can't take it until you have something like 45 practise hours logged.
  3. On the other hand, my parents' generation paid $2 to get a license - no questions asked. My classmates took their road tests in the metropolises of Ste. Rose du Lac and Winnipegosis. City tests won't even take you through Portage & Main. Graduated licensing will still be in place. Mileage will vary (pun intended) depending on the kid. I have no concerns with my daughter (who has gone through Driver Z) skipping the road test. My son needed to be road tested for sure.
  4. I think it's hilarious that anyone thinks people vote based on how much vandalism is done to election signs. Every party is targeted. The Alberta UCP seemed to have an organized force in some ridings to deface and remove signs and yet here we are. Used to be. Now they're mostly the mis/disinformed. Feel free to argue, but you'd have to answer for the PC's campaign messaging which is going directly after those votes. Parental Rights, anyone?
  5. Seattle's in their "soft part" of the sched, but full credit for the win streak. At least Texas and Houston are fading and the Yanks are out of the picture.
  6. Well, if you like watching sports with a playoff feel every night for 3 months, you can't do better than being a Blue Jays fan right now. Fun times. Can't wait for the "soft part" of the schedule to start.
  7. I'd argue she's much uglier on the inside.
  8. I've seen this figure and I believe it is misleading. From what I understand, they averaged out the cost of each model (high to low) and arrived at this number. I have doubts that this is the average cost of what people are buying. Hyundai Ionic6's are now under 35K in the U.S. and costs are going to keep dropping as GM ramps up their offerings post COVID.
  9. Adam Schiff of the Democratic Party has introduced an amendment every year since 2013 to address the Republican Controlled Supreme Court's Citizen United ruling. But they're both equally bad. Name me a time when Russia wasn't shipping someone off to die or suffer - wartime or not. Giving Putin what he wants will not make life better for any Ukrainians who prefer an independent Ukraine.
  10. It's clearly a tribute to Peter Nygard.
  11. Such an incredibly stupid idea for so many reasons. Not enough for me to change votes, but I'm not the voter he's targeting with this - so I can see who's votes he's trying to buy here.
  12. Plus girly-men liberal commies don't watch football, so there's no way they would win a poll here.
  13. Some language is disturbing (not swearing - ok - one or two).
  14. Manitobans who buy electric vehicles would get rebate of up to $4K under NDP: Kinew Manitoba's Opposition New Democrats are promising rebates for people who purchase electric vehicles. NDP Leader Wab Kinew says if his party wins the election set for Oct. 3, it would offer a $4,000 rebate for new electric vehicles and a $2,500 rebate for used ones. The federal government currently offers rebates of up to $5,000, depending on the type of vehicle, and some provinces have already adopted similar rebates. Kinew says an NDP government would also sign on to a federal commitment to protect 30 per cent of land and ocean by 2030. He says Manitoba currently has about 11 per cent of its land and water in protected status, and accuses the Progressive Conservative government of dragging its feet on the issue. The NDP is also promising to restore funding to nine environmental organizations, such as the Manitoba Eco-Network, that was cut in 2020. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/manitoba-ndp-climate-announcement-electric-vehicle-rebate-1.6940631
  15. Good thread: Also: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/mar/24/republicans-parents-rights-education-culture-war
  16. Exactly, and the Feds can't step in to help without Provincial cooperation.
  17. The difference being of course that they have a pretty good idea where the landfill bodies are. Heads should roll at Winnipeg Police for not conducting a search as soon as they knew. Oh - and what does your Cross Lake anecdote have in common with the landfill issue? Thanks for making our point.
