  1. No, for several reasons. 1 - We would have to release Willy and I don't think they're ready to do that. 2- Why trade for him when we could pick him up cheaper (salary) when he's released? 3- He's injured. When will he be ready? 4- Smacks of desperation from Walters. Only if he thinks he's about to be fired does he propose this. 5- If we do a trade, Ottawa will expect something in return of value. What do we have that they want (that we can afford to give)?
  2. Who are you sending down? I think Connor is given every opportunity to impress but I just don't see how they fit him in the team. I hope I'm wrong because that means he's earned the spot!
  3. Dano is still on his ELC... he doesn't need to clear waivers, correct? That's why I think he goes down to start the year.
  4. I think we go into the season with this line-up: Ehlers-Scheif-Wheelers Laine-Little-Stafford Perreault-Matthias-Burmi Lowry-Copp-Armia I don't believe that it sticks too long.
  5. Tim Horton's Field was built with public money. BMO Field was built with public money. BC Place and Lansdowne were reno'd with public money. And on, and on. All Grey Cups receive public funds. Not saying I approve but can't blame the gov't for the product on the field.
  6. What makes you think this? Who will he replace?
  7. Tough break for Raffl. During camp last year, he seemed almost a lock to make the team. Then, when he didn't, you thought he might be first called up. A series of injuries negated that and he never got up to the same level.
  8. I'd like to challenge that no-TD call on the line. I think Harris was in. Who do I call in Toronto to get that call overturned and to fix the statistics?
  9. I don't think Harrison is particularly interested in coming back to the Moose. I don't think he was pleased to be put on waivers and never have been recalled. The trade closed his door on the Jets forever, I think.
  10. Start early (before the 4th quarter, please) Hit their o-line hard! Willy needs to complete passes.
  11. Ten million plus waiting through a rebuild in Buffalo. Taxes alone bring these numbers much closer together. Plus, he gets the extra year.
  12. Wasn't the President of Canadian Tire at the meeting with the Leafs today? They really do have an advantage when signing free agents but (obviously) it does not always work!
  13. Stamkos is getting $68 over 8 years. $8.5AAV TO would have to pay a lot more to match TB offer when income tax is taken into consideration. I suspect TO hoped to get a bit of a discount with sponsorship offsets.
  14. I think Weber is actually getting paid way less now. Wasn't everything in the signing bonus? AAV remains, of course.
  15. I go into one meeting and everything blows up. Where's Chevy? What's he doing? Get on it Chevy or get out!! /s
  16. Thanks for the link. That was quite an interesting article. There are two factors in play that were not around in 1990, though. The salary cap, which adds incredible value to entry level contracts and the expansion draft next year.
  17. So, you're saying being down 8 with 2:38 left, the Bombers were not in the game???
  18. It's telling that they don't want a fine for talking about players under contracts with other teams.
  19. And, who could fault Trouba for signing an offer sheet like that? Even if he wants to play here, he would be foolish to leave that money on the table.
  20. I think if the Bruins give the Jets four-first round picks and pay way over market rate for Trouba, the Jets come out looking like winners. Buf decided he wanted to play here.
  21. And think, with Sweeney leading the Bruins, those four picks might be lottery picks!!
  22. Jones signing is great news for the Jets. Hopefully, this will close the negotiations with Trouba for around the same price.
  23. Interesting line. I wonder though, as often is the case, can two crazy skill guys like Ehlers and Laine coexist on the same line? I want it to work, I really do.
