  1. I've never seen a player like Streveler. On paper, statistically, if you didn't know the Bombers, didn't do much. But as a Bomber fan, his on field impact, what he brought to the team, how badly he wanted to win - absolutely legendary, and such a key part of the Grey Cup season. I've said it before, one of the best football players (not QB) I've ever seen. Every player, coach, fan would love to have him on their team.
  2. You're both right. They currently do nothing to promote the Argos, and could do a lot because they're MLSE. And, I think it's too late. The Argos are so far down the pecking order, I can't see promotion as a way to get fans to watch them at BMO. Too bad. It's a nice venue. I think the only option is some type of relocation in GTA, Southern Ontario, and then promote the sh&t out of the team in that area.
  3. Yeah, I'm really doubtful that Toronto fans would get behind the XFL. NFL, they might. I was surprised when I lived there how popular the Bills were, and how many would travel down to Bills games. Plus, NFL is big time. Toronto supports big time sports. Toronto FC - MLS - just on the edge of big time, so they are now getting support. Either way, how long can you keep a team at BMO Stadium drawing 6000 fans a game? And where does it stop? 1000 fans a game? I went to a McGill game a few weeks ago - 3500 fans. I think the CFL has to consider a relocation. At least somewhere else in the GTA.
  4. Exactly! I stream every sport I watch now - Jets, Bombers, Vikings, USports football. Some are from providers like TSN, but, I don't have cable. So I'd buy the streaming package from anywhere. And your Hansen "bunch of Germans" comment - so true, and made me laugh out loud. Well done! You might be Randy Ambrosie though.
  5. Yeah, GTA suburb might work - Brampton, Mississauga, Oshawa. I was thinking further out - Guelph, Kitchener, London - where youth, high school, Usport football is popular. TSN thing - You're right, at this point maybe they don't really care if there's a team in Toronto or not given where their viewers come from. Plus, we're in a new era. Might be other options if the CFL broadcast rights went to market now. Streaming services like DAZN or others; maybe Sportsnet; maybe some combination of local and national broadcast partners? Seems like the big sports - NFL, NBA - are not worried at all when broadcast rights are up, not just because they're so popular, but because they know there's so many options now sniffing around - Apple TV; Facebook; Amazon ... - have all talked about acquiring the broadcast rights to a major sport.
  6. Great points. Maybe Toronto should relocate. Problem is does TSN still care about the CFL as much with no team in Toronto? They should, their primary viewership are not from the GTA. But, I'd be worried they'd pull the plug, and I don't know who would step in. Perhaps if they relocated to somewhere else in Southern Ontario - London, Kitchener, Guelph, Windsor ...? Not saying they'd get Bombers or Riders numbers, but could you get 15,000 out per game at a reasonable ticket price? Probably. And still have TSN interested - Hamilton vs _______ rivalry? No easy solutions. I lived in Toronto for years, and no one I knew talked about the Argos. Including football fans. The Bills were more popular.
  7. I was at the Alouettes/Lions game in Montreal a couple of weeks ago. He looked like the Reilly of old. Great throws, moved around in the pocket. Carved up the Als. Bombers D is much better, but it won't be easy. Best two QB's in the CFL right now going head-to-head.
  8. Anyways, apologies to all for high jacking this Bombers-Elks thread. Won't happen again. Go Bombers!
  9. With which part? Pro/retired pros not threatening civilians? Really? So Malice at The Palace stuff is okay?
  10. Nope. Didn't see that one. Just saw one from Rush saying what I put before. Maybe it was in response to this. Who knows. Showed up in my feed, though I don't follow him. Anyways, didn't know Rush was such a beloved Winnipeg sports alumni. And not going to debate or defend who is at protests. My point - still sticking to it - pro athletes, and retired pro athletes, should never threaten to beat up civilians. Period. Even provoked. Especially if you're planning a post retirement media career. You don't think pro athletes get provoked all the time!? Try playing any kind of pro sport in Philadelphia as a visiting team.
  11. That is impressive, truly. Former pro athlete threatening to beat up people - not at all impressive. Look, you might be him, or friends with him. Don't know. And I'm fully vaxxed, not attending any rallies, so I'm not defending that camp. As an adult, life long Bombers fan, never want to see an alumni of any pro sport threatening to beat up citizens. Bad move. And he did on Twitter.
  12. Also something about "how would they feel getting beat up by a guy looking like this" and a photo of him with a man-bun. It's there somewhere in the Twitter verse. If he's planning to have some kind of media career, not a great position to take. Wasn't impressed as a Bombers fan from an alumni.
  13. He also somehow showed up on my Twitter feed threatening to go to anti-vax rallies and beat people up. I don't even follow him on Twitter. Real tough guy.
  14. Ha! Yup. Big 7 yard gain by Charles “fair catch” Nelson.
  15. Yay! Celebration drink for that! Was rooting for Leggio, but he’s just not getting it done
  16. If I were Walters I’d stop watching the game now are start checking NFL cuts for kickers. Time to pony up $ for a US kicker. Leggio Will cost us games
  17. Can a player be cut during a game? Asking for the entire fan base. #nelsonmustgo
  18. Yeah, it's interesting to me that most teams load up on DL and LB's dressing for games. I get it - keep the pass rush fresh; LB's play on special teams. But, the coach in me would dress one more OL, DB and WR in place of three other spots. QB is your most important position. Having just one back up OL terrifies me. You lose 2, you're f'ed. Putting Jake Thomas in there is death for Collaros. Having one extra WR is one additional weapon in a diverse offense. And only one back up DB? Opposing OC's are dreaming about two DB's going down and a team having to drop a LB back to safety.
  19. Don't want to dwell on this, but what exactly are the coaches seeing in the film room that we're missing? I don't see anything. Hesitant, not quick, lack of vision and no results in terms of positive yards. There are no better options on the roster? Last I'll vent about this. 😀
  20. One of the reasons I love going to the Banjo Bowl - seeing and interacting with Riders fans. In my experience, it's always been good natured and fun interactions. And, I do hope they will all need to drown their sorrows with Rum Hut beverages because the Bombers make it two wins in a row. Seems like it. I feel for him because seems like the surgery to his throwing arm did not solve the problem. And pre-surgery he had an average arm, average accuracy, so any deterioration really shows. Gotta say thanks to Matty N for his years as a Bomber. But, management made the right choice with Collaros. Looks like an MOP candidate so far.
  21. If either is the case he won't be back soon. We need a better option than Nelson. As someone pointed out, we're bad in all areas of special teams this year. Better kickers might be tough to find, but a returner? There's probably a better one on the roster.
  22. Please bench Nelson. I know Roosevelt isn’t a kick returner, but Nelson shouldn’t be playing. Has to be a better returner, and he’s not a CFL level receiver.
  23. Interesting take from SK kicker Brett Lauther. Basically, that the Globals are coming in and taking jobs from qualified Canadian kickers. My questions are, where are these great unemployed Canadian kickers, and can we get one? https://3downnation.com/2021/08/26/it-does-suck-roughriders-brett-lauther-believes-global-policy-unfair-to-kickers/
  24. Duke. Assuming he hasn't regressed in the NFL, or is hurt, he'd be our best WR by a long shot. He was an elite CFL WR. Something the Bombers haven't had since ... ? But, if our kicking doesn't improve soon, it's going to cost us a win or two. So, can we say both?
  25. I believe that you coach and train at a higher level than I do. And that you understand tackling technique more than I do. So, you know more than I do how hard it is to teach young players to use proper technique, especially when they see pros not doing it. That wasn't a good tackle. Kudos for keeping his head out of it - that would be just stupid, especially from a pro. Agree, Alexander is not a malicious, dirty player. The play ... let's agree that while he didn't want to injure the WR, but did choose to rock him. And not sure he let up. He put his hands in the air after to act like he let up, try to avoid a penalty. And my perspective on plays like this, especially from a player who plays the right way like Alexander, is that it happens. But, it also comes with consequences - penalty, fine, etc. And if you keep doing those types of plays you turn into a player that plays the wrong way, and costs your team.
