coaching mostly. Generally you have a leader on the OL (normally the Centre) who calls out and communicates. I mentioned in another thread i think, that this OL is super young. And has lost coach wiley. Bryant is 31 with tons of experience. But the rest are mid 20 some things with an average of about 2 years experience. And they didnt have a full year starting together last year. All those things factored in the OL still has a lot of room to grow and improve. Which is a scary thought based on how talented these guys are. We will see if costello is a worthy successor to wiley. I dont see why he wouldnt be, and hope he grows into a great OL coach. This OL core still needs more time as a unit and they will get it im sure. As wiley also pointed out in that surely interview last year it isnt all on the OL. The ol has to pick up blitz etc, and block the fastest routes to the qb. But the rb has to make blocks, and pick up on blitz/drop/stunts etc the QB has to pick it up and know if he needs to roll, get rid of it etc. Its a team sport. The blue this year has struggled with assignments. And we saw some of that last year too. They could man handle a 4 man line, but when things get tricky other teams had some success. High level communication, switches, and 100% trust in every one else and the other offensive units is the last step in cohesion. In previous bad years we would have seen blame, cuts, benching, and out right weak links. This year they will work on it, cus they have the personnel. If they stay healthy, by late in the year this OL and harris et al will be the elite group at those aspects.

stunts, twists, adjustments to 3 man front there is still work to do on the OL. We have the pieces, no doubt. Part of it could be the loss of wiley. We will have to see how the OL improves under costello on that stuff. We have good continuity on the OL, but we also have a really really REALLY young OL. Bryant is 31, but the rest average to about mid 20s with around 2 years of exp. Which only makes how well they played last year all the more phenomenal. The core of this OL could play together for 5+ years. If we keep them together, this time next year it will be beyond scary.

He was on block and release plays most of the night. He was the release valve for nichols. Our offense doesnt deal well with pressure. It requires enough time to scan the field for the best of all the short routes for a chance to pick up a first down. calgary in the 2nd half did a great job of disturbing that. With pressure, showing and dropping, and moving coverage schemes around. The OL still has to pick up the blitz. You have to get a hand on a guy and you take the guy whose got the fastest route to the QB. Not just who ever lines up in the trench. And with the massive miss match we had on the OL last night vs the stamps tattered DL, they shouldnt have struggled to pick up the blitz.

Under willy when there was hope and the early season win streak we won coming from behind with big gaps in out put from both sides of the ball but especially offense. The same has continued with nichols, though last week it was a first half show up 2nd half disappearing act. When normally we seem to show up late 2nd quarter then the 3rd, disappear early in the 4th then roar late in the game. It may be that the player friendly coach mos needs to put boots to asses a bit more and get his guys to play the full game. Pretty much. What we saw with the drops and severe dip in performance after the challenge PI was won we had a broken team. And it never managed to pull it self back together. Execution was brutal at that point.

sounds like you guys deserve the HH more then any one on the field tnite.
-
yeah if they played a whole game like they did that first half we could beat any one. They have to figure out how to get a full game out of this team. Not the first and 2nd quarter. Not the 2nd and 3rd. etc
-
The 2nd half of this game makes me feel gross. Really hard to pick some of these. 1 TJ Heath. 2 Picks some good coverage though its some what amplified with how much BLM picked on roc. 2 harris struggled with running again. 10 carries for 32 yards but 8 catches for 69 yards catching the ball. His runs after the catch on those short plays gave us life. 3 Drake nevis He and poop really stuff up the middle on messam and did a great job collapsing the pocket on BLM till the game was lost. HH Dressler, 6-76 went over 9k for his career.
-
It is, but its still Calgary and im still shell shocked from the last what 8 years? I sure hope we dont wake up the sleeping dragon. If we beat calgary tnite that might be the biggest win of the mos era.

Love listening to huffer talk. Such a class guy, and great football mind. Doug with some great questions too. Man i wish he would rub off more on BLM... -
Rumors abound that the jays are preparing to become sellers. And even pre talk about interest in donaldson. If it wasnt for the dickey trade it would be a mild re tool around the best young group of pitching baseball has seen in a few years. Still its a very good young group of guys with some real mashers in the minors.

Blaszko, wolitarsky and catchison. We didnt get any NIs worth keeping in the draft but still managed to fall @$$ backwards into NI talent at the position. They say its better to be good then lucky. Well right now walters seems to be both.
-
The gift that keeps on giving. Did we also get a neg lister whose gonna turn into some thing special? Or a case of beer that makes the offense and defensive play calling more aggressive? Maybe a goose that lays golden eggs? I look at the talent thats gone in the top 3 rounds at WR recently and think wolitarsky has first round pick value written all over him. Maybe (probably) im just a crazy cool aid drinker though...

This. Idk what u posted (i love classic cars though so please tell xD) but it must have hit some trigger wording. Cus ive done tons and tons of deals on kijiji and never gotten this one my self.
-
Normally id say this is gonna be a good fight. But idk if thats true. Its gonna be some thing, im certainly looking forward to it thats for sure.

Idk how we got him for a 3rd round pick...

The jets support also doesnt come with out cost to other sports, mainly the blue. Last year half the games chat had tons of jets talk and jets score updates etc. We could, and would have supported a contending blue team to the tune of sell outs in that stadium every game prior to the jets coming back. -
QFT. Weve hit and miss with some FAs, but man did we ever hit with dressler. I wish he had come over sooner.
-
Idk when it started but the oldest one i recall is joe morgan a saftey we got via the supplemental draft from south florida in i wanna say 2003
-
i know the riders who were low on NI talent didnt miss him and he was demoted from starting mlb and not given a look last year despite awful front 7 play.

Just reading a bit it sounds like it was as much personal as performance related. Though no one out side the argos room can say for sure. It seems like he is not coaching now, which is too bad he was a very good DC imo.
-
It felt like the fans in general supported reinbold for a good while, It was a pretty clear talent on the field problem imo. It did wear out though. People wanted burke to stay for the D he ran. And felt his D could carry the team. Iirc he had consideration before lapo was hired for HC. And some one interviewed him (maybe hammy?) When ever a coach excels at a CO spot they end up with hype and hope for becoming a great hc. Id take burke right now as our DC if they let him run his system. Reinbold is a good teams co. I wouldnt want kelly selling peanuts at the stadium.
-
so in other words chris jones 1.0
-
disregard hes handling it internally...
-
burke should never have been a HC. Reinbold came into a team that was allready cratered. On and off the field im going with kelly.
