It's time to hand the ball to Streveler.
wbbfan replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah I don't see any thing happening. We don't have stability, from good production, to frequent turn overs to in ability to do more then check down. What's scary consistent though is he can not throw on Calgary. -

We don't need stomp on the throat firstly. We need a qb that can keep the chains moving and get first downs late in games to close. We could the last couple years too look how that ended. Football is not remotely the same as that era. With modern offenses and pi you slow them down you can't simply deny a good offense any more. Modern defenses mitigate damage and force turn overs. Yeah. Qb carousels are the quickest way to destabilize a team. A lateral move to change starting QBs won't fix our offense. Itd have to be a trade and a big swing for the fences. But I don't see the mafia doing any of that. -
Speller? Yeah the ol had a gritty hard nosed game

Agree with all of that. I'd add possibly going after another teams young back up to the list of options. If you are going to pull nichols for a game id deal him right away. Too fragile to go back to starting for us. Maybe MTL will over pay. -
With the slant of the line it looked like a caller play all the way. Gotta limit those off tackle qb keepers though for sure.

Happens alot that new GM's pass up previous regime guys. How are the lion's den faithful feeling about Rielly?

When mathews misses you think he coulda almost just made a hero play. Like Milt would have. Darvin doesn't have the size and strength but makes more hero plays. Mathews makes physically out matched plays. Can't wait for him to be healthy again -
Jefferson has really stepped up since jeffcoat went out. Nevis also with a big game. Kongbo got some nice pressure and got in on the back end of plays. He is much better then I expected for a rookie missing camp and a third of the season. Im glad it wasn't country but I'm ready to be done with D list bands. Bring back the super dogs or CrossFit or something.

It's simple. He didn't. The reality has been for a long time that we done put wrs in positions to make plays. We spray and pray. -

Not when it leads them into db in a prone position. -

Wasn't a drop. That ball to be over the other shoulder between the wr and the sideline. Not between the wr and the db. He put Mathews in a bad and dangerous position. Agree. Streveler hasn't shown to be ready as a passer yet . And they won't make that change any time soon. -

Having to close the game out with streveler was sad. Worse was watching a green qb March down field and do what Nichols has been failing to do late in the game. -
Big Honorable mention to streveler for closing out the game

1 grant. Two TDs. 2 Harris most of our offense tnite 3 sayles. Huge Pick big hits sack and forced fumble. HH the forced fumble and recover on teams for hallett

For me the difference between good and great is that good is stagnant and great is always growing and evolving. Medlock is always improving and working on new stuff that provides him his edge. He doesn't have the strongest leg or best raw tools in the cfl. Nichols has never become more then he was late in the year he took over for willy. At times he is a game manager. Occasionally he has flashed signs of brilliance. More often then being brilliant though he's been Mia for long stretches of games.
-
In the past issues with Nichols have been around production consistency. He'd disappear for half's at a time. But played his best ball late in games and post season. Now while thats still an issue, his biggest issue is lack of poise when pressured. That problem is much more worry some. He's gone from a sub elite qb that would flash being better here n there to playing at or below replacement level. Baring injury it would take some thing extreme for the Canadian mafia to make a change this season. And while I like streveler I haven't seen the step forward from him this year as a passer he needs to take.
-
It's true he may or may not win. Virtually every team in the league is on qb2 right now. And future stars are always abound. Some Ricky ray driving a Frito truck or Kurt Warner bagging groceries. Nichols failed to win the game when put in a great position tnite. Didn't even need to score just move the ball and finish the game. And lost it last week. May or may not win is better then won't win and might lose you the game. But you're right. Mos won't make the change him self any time soon.

A few guys played their hearts out. Exume with the TD saving tackle too. But yeah was ugly and pathetic
