The bombers havent been pulling the numbers i would expect for a 5-1 top of the league squad. A bunch of people talked about how this would be a for sure sell out and I just dont see it. Its pre season NFL. Thats as dull as football gets.
-
This ham team reminds me a bit of the don mathews als. high pressure and the back end focusing on forcing turn overs.Cover 0 isnt their base but Id say its the modern equivalent and as close as we will see to cover 0 as a base in this era.

Not at all true though. I remember when they told us running wind sprints till you puked and not having water during two a days in the hot sun made you tough. If a wr completely lays out at max speed and can just tough the ball with the tips of the finger, that doesnt mean they should be able to catch it. There is also a grey zone in the middle of should catch it, and shouldnt have to make an attempt like that on a poorly thrown ball. The biggest football wide example of that is on balls thrown behind targets on ins/outs. Im not talking about throwing a wr open, im talking about the wr having to 180 his momentum and make a stretched out catch behind them then turn back to their previous path. Likewise if a wr going over the middle is thrown high, reaches out and is crushed by a DB and doesnt come down with it, that isnt their fault. They couldnt protect them self and were hung out to dry. A qbs arm also plays into it. While a pass to the hands can be easier to catch with a strong arm passer, a pass to the fingers isnt. Some big arm qbs have been known to break fingers with such passes. You catch with your hands, not your fingers. If a wr isnt hung out to dry on a play, and the ball hits his hands or with in the reach of his hands and dont come up with it its a drop. unless a db makes a great play on it of course. Though the most frequent source of a bad drop, is a wr trying to body catch a pass they could catch with their hands. Just because you can touch it, doesnt mean you should be able to catch it. If a wr is able to get with in a stride of it, the qb and wr should have been able to make the connection but there was execution issues. Which can be any thing from a pass not being accurate, to a drop, or a db pushing a guy off his route just enough to disrupt the timing of a play.

Too bad rod black cant miss a few games. 6 or 700 ideally.
-
He has seen some fantastic run blocking here,(also some dismal blocking) but when you are a prolific runner you see gap cancellation and run blitzes more and more. All of which is why you see him contacted in the back field constantly by defenders. Its extraordinarily rare for a back like harris to pick up the first 5 yards with out considerable contact.
-
He doesnt have much help. But weve seen harris with similar amounts of pressure in the back field do far better.
-
He is a head case imo. Could easily dominate and become an NFL starter. Lacks the consistent motor and grittiness needed by a big back. He was hungry when he came into the league, but that didnt last. Hes like lawrence phillips (that that nutty) in that even working at 80% effort he could be an excellent sub elite starting rb in this league. He has 26 less receiving yards then our leading wr, and on track for over 1200 yards from the line of scrimmage with a turrible argos team. That said I could see him being gone from the argos after this year and getting as little as 1 more shot with a cfl team. Teams just arent going to spend that kind of money on a guy whose that low effort.
-
I can not see him being cut. I could see a trade for limited assets though. I think this off season is going to be another hefty spin of the QB carousel.
-
its hard to sweep a team. I see them winning 3 of those games max. Honestly if you beat the pressure you crush their Defense. I dont think its a great D by any means. But it is good at what it does. I hope you are correct.
-
Plus the kitties have the 2nd worst run d in the league only better moderately then the argos.
-
Thats not how Mos works. Hes ride or die with his guys. Streveler was effective when subbed in for package work. It may or may not have changed the out come of the game but it couldnt have hurt. The last series was especially sad how poor the offense performed. I expect to see a much improved bomber O against the argos. Bingo

It isn't typical of nichols to over throw deep balls. He has tended to miss Short and forced wrs to come back to the ball. Throwing the ball high / behind on medium passes is a typical sign of when he is struggling. When struggling he often winds up before his throw slowing down his release. Nichols saw lots of pressure and other then check downs the pass game struggled. We should have had better game planning before the game for that pressure. And adjustments. Nichols and this offense have the tools to beat pressure but didn't. Out side of Harris and run blocking our entire offense has to be better. And I'm sure it will be.

That is hard running it isn't easy at all

Who would toss popp out the door though? The league? I dont think to would go in on more young un proven qbs. If they are smart, theyd ask for a package of young nucks. Maybe take back mathews in exchange for the pick so they dont make it look like they are giving up on the team today. Even nuefeld if healthy could be a good target for them. Eli+ some more or desjarlais. petermann, neuf or a pick. If we were gonna move streveler I would think a starting canadian, or a wr and an imp db would be the starting place.
-
TO is approaching the level of dumpster fire the als were under reed. Never underestimate how bad or dumb it can get. I could see popp taking over for a few games this year then trying to poach a coach in the off season.

The culture shock in terms of work to prep for each week as well as to continually improve at the Pro level is really daunting. That combined with the reality of concussions and other injuries I feel scares off a lot of young players. Pro football, like fighting, is often not a career path for people with a wide array of options.

They seemed pretty high on McGloster. Seemed the long term back up / developmental replacement for foketi. Wasnt he a guy they waited for for a while as well? Could be the team prepping spots for eventual NFL cuts to cycle through as per usual.

What i would give for the cfl to be free of him, pederson and sutter.

Poor mans tebow. 😂

You arent going to stop it, not in this day and age. You can only slow it down. Or try to. When ever you any amount of money, you can always find a way to spend it foolishly. Bc isnt remotely the only team to spend foolishly recently or otherwise. The jon ryan deal is worse imo.
