  1. Hard to be a great class with a record number of Canadian nfl draftees. I think teams making the best out of drafts like this is what winning is based on. Boy we are going to have a lot of punters in camp. Been a lot of debate about the roi of using a di on a kicker, but if you can split the three jobs with a Canadian and a global that’s probably the 2nd best option to have one ni that does it all. Legs over all did really well punting and kicking off but struggled late and had some all too frequent flubs. Should be pretty reasonable to have one of these guys with a big leg to push him, maybe take the weight of punting and kicking off or be able to come in mid season to let legs focus on one job. I wonder if last years guys will be in camp too Hackett basically just had real life line up poorly with the brief work stoppage 100% agree. I feel like a few of the lotto ticket type nfl prospects will pay off in the long term. I feel like despite being weaker it lines up pretty good for us.
  2. He’s the anti lapolice. Utterly un likeable, piss poor player coach, talented play caller. Even if the als can him I bet he’s back in the league in no time.
  3. Certainly not as a starter. Not unless we hit a lotto on an nfl guy. But I think this draft has more teams guys than most, and we could very much use a restock on kick cover.
  4. Wish the league would encourage global players getting an increased role.
  5. Some pretty interesting dl prospects this year. Be great to get a rotational depth piece to fill out the roster.
  6. League should not allow this clown back. barker to tv is such an awful tone deaf move too. Soo many ex players from the past 10 years would be a drastic improvement.
  7. It’s not too surprising to me when you look at the guys who’ve been big fa pick ups for other teams and gone to the nfl. I’d like to see the stats for drafted by that team and 1 on a cfl roster and 2 a starter in the cfl. We’d move up on that list fast.
  8. Maybe after 5-6 years. If you look at the mafias average in the first 3 ish years it’s easily more like 3+. Our 19 draft yielded 6 cflers. 5 guys from 16 stuck for a couple years with 4 really good cflers. 2020 put 4 guys in our roster that are still here today. 3 in 14, 5 in 15, 4 guys in 17 plus 1 that kicked around prs, etc.
  9. Great day for Canadian football, wish the best to all these kids.
  10. You’re right that’s kinda mean. I don’t think just under the draft pick punishment can be an accident.
  11. For his reasoning I think Anthony Bennett who he projects with the next picture would make a lot more sense. That’s a guy who can get after it on teams, has the altheticism, could maybe maybe be a back up lber to roll with our usual suspect ni lbers. He’s older and idk if he can bulk up and play between 230-240 but his pick for us doesn’t make much sense.
  12. nah worse to cheat, then win a ship, get caught, but have no one care in your market about cheating winning or even existing. did you guys ever end up having a gc parade btw? go to Hamilton!
  13. I feel like the pundits never know what we will do at the draft. I predict that I will really like a couple of the picks, but that we will really reach for a couple guys, and that we will draft a guy with the label of the best special teams guy available. I think especially lately we have gone after high upside guys and that probably continues. If we can grab some of the high motor/character special teams guys after that it’ll be great. This is an interesting draft. You have this split of high upside athletic guys and high polish/character sub par athletes. Mix that with a bunch of big time prospects will are sure fire to be nfl bound. that’s kind of normal, but it seems like you have more guys in each split this year.
  14. The wr one perfectly sums up barkers career. He can’t scout, trade, develop, strategize coach or play call. But he’s here and he’s a big body. Natural blocker at the buffet.
  15. Honestly it only makes sense to go over up to 100k if it can make a difference. But yeah wtf ott lol.
  16. And I think that’s a good thing for every one too. It gives them all the incentive to grow the viewership, and gives us a chance for that revenue to increase.
  17. I’m betting before the xfl plays it’s next season. I think there could be some fantastic opportunity to have it be like the old Al vs nl in mlb. that is fantastic news, though I worry a bit about the broadcast quality. I don’t think the football viewing public in the us is ready for some of the awful pbp and color. I feel like the peak of the us simulcast deals in the last was less than a large coffee at tims, though I don’t know for sure. I hope the actual numbers come out and I hope we see the cap grow because of it
  18. Go find a tv partner any where that is growing the market and shrinking the off season coverage. It’s ok, I’ll wait. You’re the only person who follows the cfl happy with tsn. But that is your defacto position on all things.
  19. You know who else thinks it’s a definitive advantage? Kyle Walters. man that sucks. Wonder why.
  20. He certainly did not invent it. Most teams don’t do this. Most teams are handing out pretty bonus heavy contracts to vets especially in free agency. That’s why soo many of the top 10 deals aren’t hard money but the bombers contracts are virtually all hard money. With being able to use the 6 game ir retroactively, injuries to vets especially high paid vets create a lot of the cap room for replacements. Most injury replacements aren’t high cost eithe. Handful of guys come back from the nfl in a good year and get a big chunk of pro rated money. I definitely agree that the next man up filling positions internally vs trading for over the hill vets has been a key to success here. Though Walters retaining money for nfl guys returning has as well. It seems to me like Walters and co doesn’t really aim for holes in free agency. They seem to look at just the players and go hard after the guys they want. Even with nfl cuts.
  21. He uses the bonus cap a lot for late season additions, and in the case of last year moving future cap hits to a previous years bonus cap. The cfl cap isn’t by any means the nba in terms of complexity but Walters plays chess while most of the league plays checkers with the cap.
  22. I imagine the rest of the tc spots are mostly waiting on the cis draft results. Couple more bodies at wr, lber, dl, ol to round things out will be nice. Other than that I think we will bring in 1 more qb. That or it will be a short leash on hall. Or maybe waiting on a neg list qb to shake loose. But 4 arms plus the ni would be ideal in camp. It’s hard to replace that experience.
  23. Right? When you consider how much bonus money they deferred from this year to last year they should still have very good flexibility through out the year. Lawler and Willy j are our only really big contracts by position this year.
  24. I think the wheels wobbled the last two years. I think this year could bring change to cow town.
