Yeah, I think the only area the Elk stand to challenge us is Dl vs our OL. Even their OL is banged up and got a few changes. But that dl, they got some guys who get after it.

Yeah, If he was in a flex tight grouping or even further out it's a nightmare for defences. Do you put a lil guy on him? He might pancake then still come in and seal another guy. do you take a good dl who can 1v1 away from the play? I'd love to see some Eli motion. Really screw with defences.

Ive been really surprised at how bad the Elk's D has looked considering the talent . Hoping they don't gel this week. But I think Tre will be good for atleast one pick six vs our D.

  2. Im not sure that Cooley was added last week over depth fears but more that they wanted to take a look at him. It might always have been part of the plan to start the American guard in week one because they weren’t confident at that point if Nuefeld was going to be able to play the whole game. After he did they were more comfortable going with Nuefeld and Wallace as the guards the following week and got Cooley on the roster. I hope he has a larger role this week. Other than the fumble and recovery he looked pretty good and out performed Peterson.

We've given up 34 points or 17 per game, so I don't think they make changes on D but it feels like they would be better if they took off one of Wilson or Ayers and gave J.Jones or Pearson a shot. Actually Vaughters hasn't done much either.

Even less points if you subtract garbage time points.

If you listened to O’Shea presser today he said the playbook is the same for all QBs but at the same time the plays that will be called are basically the plays that QB excels at most. Zach and Strev excel at different things. Zach more of a deep shot guy for sure.

The playbook is the same sure but the way the defense prepares is going to be different and how they react is gonna be different. The threat of Streveler pulling the ball and running with it on a RPO is going to keep teams from keying on our runningback to a degree and certainly Zack's ability to throw a deep ball on a dime has gotta play a role as well.

I think Lofton is going to sit when he comes back, Randolph did an excellent job at RT, he has excellent mobility for a big man.

He can be depth for now and potentially be in the picture next season if Bryant retires.

I was of the mind of 'what the hell are we doing trading for this kid Peterson' at the time....After seeing his performance last night I can see what we liked about him....great performance...I thought once Brady went down that our running game would come to a grinding halt....not so...the little guy put in quite a performance......Thought our defensive line played great ....our hogs looked really good as well.....Room for improvement for sure BUT I don't think anyone left the stadium disappointed

That american left guard we had looked great and he showed some controlled natyness as well when he rolled over Betts without taking a penalty.

In a weird way is the knee injury the best thing that could have happened for Streveler. He is no where near back to 100% but forced him to keep his head up find receivers.

Imagine if he develops his passing game this year and by next season he's got most of his speed back and can learn just to use it to get out of trouble and in crucial situations.

  8. Despite all the offseason losses of star players Ive had the feeling for a long time now that we were going to be a better team this year from last.   We have a lot more depth than we had last season. Last year there were very few second year guys who who really in a position to help the team if memory serves me correctly and as a result we had to go with a lot of first year players. 2nd year players are the best value you can get as a CFL team.  Rookie salary in an experienced player. We have made up some of our biggest losses by changing the ratio and the early returns are stellar. I'm no longer worried about losing Ford's turnover creating ability at short side corner. Bridges already has two picks and he's doing this on a rookie contract. I also think that left guard we have is a massive upgrade of Dobsen and again on a rookie salary. Wheatfall is on a rookie deal too and will quite likely produce more yards than Lawler did last year or the year before.

Vaval to me looks like legit returner I wonder what if any role Logan will have when healthy. They can just keep him on the injury list reducing our cap hit and wait until we need him.

Streveler looks like a legit backup qb. I just love how the new OC let him run the offence and he played against his old OC who never let him do that and beat him throwing touchdown passes while the highest paid primadona qb in the league couldn't get it done vs us under Buck's tutelage. Clearly Streveler is not himself yet with that brace and that made it a necessity for him to run the offence. I really wonder if the plan for him this season is to focus on knowing how to run the offence and to be backup. Just speculation but I think maybe they won't want him as the short yardage qb pushing off on that leg.

The real question I have is if BO is out next week where does that leave our ratio?  Peterson made a strong case to leave the ratio as it is. I hope we find a way to get Cooley on the roster and use a combination of the tight end set to get him on the field replacing Sterns with a canadian tight end and also use the designated american rule to give him a bunch of additional snaps and use a two back system. Thoughts?
