  1. At this time the Bombers have nothing to lose.  I suggest they pull a Mike O'Shea surprise and come out in the LDC with Marve in a wishbone offence with 3 RB's and run the hell out of the Riders for the entire game, at least that would provide some amusement.

Did I miss the announcement of Mike Kelly returning as OC??  O'Shea better let co-ordinators talk to the media....

  2. Brohm's starting? Sure hope we give Walker & Marshall 40+ carries then. Or, just punt on first down. Either is preferable.

Lirim was probably our best player last week... he was booming em'!!

Given MB's bland offence, I think they could give Nichols a small playbook to work with... you know, like they've done with Marve, Brohm...... dumbed down is just how Bellefeuille rolls!

  3. I thought a few years back that Nichols was a pretty effective QB.  He's had 2 consecutive season ending injuries the last couple years, and this is the first in a while he's managed to stay healthy.   Before the big injuries, I thought he showed real promise.  If he can stay upright, I can see him doing just fine here.  And the fact that I'll get to frame the article about Brohm being released (sadly going to be a high point in this season) makes this all the better!

  4. I think people are really expecting too much from Marve at this point.... we're still looking at Start #3 for him for Labour Day.  The guy still needs to get comfortable, which he is not.  Yes, the schemes need to improve, but the things that people are harping on, the deep ball, accuracy, reads... these don't get better without more experience at full game speed.  Practice will help only so much.  Marve had an opportunity to hit one deep ball in the 2nd quarter I think it was, and he stepped up and just put a bit too much on it.  Adrenaline in making that big play probably caused him to gun it, and those are small mistakes you can learn from.

Giving up on Marve, when we really don't have another option, isn't going to accomplish anything. (yes I said trade for Ricky Ray earlier, but you gotta dream sometimes).  Giving Marve the next two starts to develop some confidence against a shaky Rider D could be just what the doctor ordered.  You can't roll out Brohm.  we know what we've got there, and quite frankly, I'd be happy if we never see it again!

  5. get a deal for Ricky Ray done.... Harris is going to stick around in Toronto, they don't want another Collaros situation come back to bite them.  They've gotta get return on Ray, cause he'll be gone next offseason anyways.

I'm not one for giving up prospects to get better "now" as a stop gap.... but the freakin Grey Cup is here this year, and this ship is sinking quick.  If Walters could get it done, I'd be all for it!

  6. was games like that, that I never leave a CFL game early.... like last game.   People leaving with 3 minutes left.  Sure we weren't moving the ball well, but there was still the possibility we could pull it out.   That's when the keys starting jingling at the quitters! haha

  7. there's no discussion for Marve as a starter.... there's no experience there.  But we've seen enough of Brohm to know that he doesn't make quick enough decisions or have the arm.   Will Marve succeed?  Who knows.... Joey Elliott looked like a good option at one time too.

And stats are meaningless in Brohm's case.... I'll even defend a few of his picks, cause they weren't his fault.  But if you look at last week, until there was like 4 minutes left, he had completed like 2 passes.  He stated to make completions in the last few minutes because the game was over, and Edmonton wasn't even trying.  At full pace, I think I remember seeing 2 for 7 and 2 picks was his stat line.  Garbage time stats mean nothing...  Milt said it best on the radio this morning.  "You can tell when a QB has it, and Brohm just doesn't!"

  8. well if scrambling is what makes Marve effective (which it totally is), if he infact has some sort of a knee injury, I can see why O'Shea kept him out last week.  But I couldn't agree more that MB's time is almost up... I wanted him gone in the offseason.   Makes me wonder,  do you think LaPo would come back in an OC capacity?  i would be open to that!

  9. just got back from practice....  Marve got limited reps, was wearing a knee brace, but I wouldn't say hobbling.  In the second set of reps, he was tossing bullets on the money in stride.  The last set of reps they ran, of course, MB runs 3 running plays with Marve in.

Brohm.... knocked down at the line a couple of times, missed and looked off Adams a couple times when he was wide open looking for Denmark, and under threw several times.  He had one nice toss, on a very slow developing play, that I'm sure wouldn't have been nearly as nice in a game cause he woulda got hit.

You can see the difference immediately when they go from Willy to Brohm... Willy gets it out right away and is on the money, Brohm is so slow to go through his reads, and then tosses muffins.   Brohm had one nice little dump pass where he actually hit Marshall in stride, and after O'Shea was running up giving him five and encouraging him.....

I don't know!?  I went to go see what it is the coaching staff sees in Brohm, in practice, and it doesn't make a damn bit of sense why he's #2.   Willy left with 5 minutes left to go in practice, but I'm sure that's just mind games... he looked alright.

Moore didn't participate in drills, nor did Turner.  Lirim only punted, no FG's.
