  1. one thing I will say about Brohm, is there's definitely arm strength there.... he can gun it!  I'd just like to see both of them get some quality time over the next few weeks.  Look what happened in Hamilton... Collaros went down, and turned out that LeFevour had some huge upside.  Both of these guys were backups last season...

  2. I agree with USA BF... it seems that they've got to the 'super slow developing' screen pass half way across the field... by the time the ball gets there the opposing D is all over us.  If we're going to get blitzed the way we have been, you need a couple options to dump it off quick.

Amazing how we were complaining about the check down passes LaPo was famous for implementing 3 years ago, and now it's one of the only things that might work for us!

  3.

I actually am curious if anyone can think of a single example where this has happened in all of professional sports.

You can't be serious.... this happens all the time.  Just look at last season with the Jets.  3 games to go, they didn't start Montoya or Pavelec did they?  They went with Hutchinson the last 3 starts to see what he had.  Bombers are in the same boat.... evaluate in an actual game situation, not in garbage time in the preseason if you truly want to see what you've got!

  4. I thought they took a little too long to pull Willy today! It's okay to be optimistic O'Shea, but this one was done early. Would have been nice to see Brohm in to start the 2nd & close out the half, then give Marve a half of ball! The way the Eskies D were getting in there, we could have benefitted if even a little bit, from having more of a scrambler which Marve kinda strikes me as. I knew some will say maybe that's showing quit, but I guess I'm just trying to be realistic here...

We're playing for next season at this point (and were 15 minutes into this game). We know what we've got with Willy if we can give him enough time! Get these other guys some real reps so we've got a better evaluation heading into the offseason.

If I don't see Marve next week, I won't watch another game this season, and will give away my BC tickets!

  5. I was all over MB the last couple weeks, and I do want to see change... But until we can improve our Oline, it's going to be the same old story. Dickenson wouldn't be doing much more when our pivot is ducking and scrambling for his life!

Etch has to go.... How many times did he run 8 up near the line and just offer up a kid slant route up the middle on silver friggin platter. Do we ever miss Muamba in the middle!

  6. Grigsby was good his first few weeks, and whoever said it, has gone unchallenged the rest of the way, is bang on....  cutting Ford was a cap move, but they were essentially the same player.  Small, quick back.   Without some size in the backfield, we're just going to keep going through the same stuff.  We haven't had a bruiser in years.  Having a back that can help pick up some blocks on PA plays would help out our awful line too!  But... Walters would have to find someone down south and open up the chequebook!

  7. I don't believe you can point to one guy...  sure Moore is a big play guy, but Willy has still put up decent passing yardage without him.

Denmark has picked up the slack most of the season, which has been a pleasant surprise.  I had high hopes for Watson having a breakout season and staying healthy, but even when he's in, he really hasn't done much.

Just seems the last few games (and all 3 games vs SK), the O has been very predictable.

  8. and you don't think having our OLine back on their heels 80% of snaps has anything to do with that!?   the OLine hasn't improved at all this season, and that's a Walters issue.

I just think the play calling got stale a few games ago, and we're too easy to stop.  Maybe Buck isn't an option long term, and that's why you maybe give it a short test run.  I don't want to see Marcel back here next season, and I know I'm not the only one...

  9. We will forever be rebuilding if we keep firing coaches every season or every other season.

Bellefeuile has shown the last few weeks that he doesn't have the creativity to move this team forward.... this offence peaked in mid-summer.  I agree somewhat with not wanting to change the system year in & out....  and maybe he's not quite there yet, but I would not be opposed to canning Marcel and giving the keys to Buck for the rest of the season as a trial run!  I think with a full offseason to prepare, Buck could put together a better, more creative offence than what we're seeing right now.

I'm sure people are going to disagree with me... but really, there aren't a whole lot of other options out there that know the CFL game real well, are there!?

  10. not losing interest... never do!  until they're mathematically eliminated, there's still hope!  on the realist side of things, I just don't see them turning this around with who we have left on the schedule.  It has been pretty disappointing seeing the Bombers making such poor decisions in key parts of the game the last 2 weeks.

don't need to beat a dead horse, but going for it on 3rd down at the end of the second quarter killed momentum.  I know there are those who will say there's still lots of time with a whole half of football to play, but I just feel that was such a poor call, and really changed the entire momentum of the game.  Even late in the 4th with 7-8 mins left to go, put points on the board and kick that field goal.

I'll still be there next Saturday, as we have to beat Calgary to keep any chance alive... BC could already have pulled away by then. The East is strengthening, and Walters should be exploring options on the table to strengthen this team for next year. Other than guys like Willy, Denmark & Turner... I don't think anyone is untouchable for the right deal coming our way!

  11. The biggest difference I find is that since the mid 2000's, it's been trendy to be a Rider fan... Whereas since the big NFL marketing push in to Canada, a lot of Winnipeggers seem to have this arrogant attitude like they are above the CFL and that the Bombers suck! The latter has been true of late, but they're still our damn team, and whether you like the Blue & Gold or not... We've got a diehard following the likes that over time, has been unmatched!

  12. I was joking.... having the history with an injured QB we've had the last 3 seasons, they should be cautious!  If Willy is out there gunning it though, it was probably never really as bad as everyone thought!   We as Bomber fans with Buck back there were always holding our breath any time he got hit, and more often than not, it meant he was out.

It's okay to be worried... it's all we've known!  Whoever just said it... if there was structural or tissue damage, what have you... he wouldn't be practicing.  It's all mind games at this point I think!

  13.

I think a lot of people are freaking out because of Lulay and need to realize that it's very different injuries...

I agree, but that realization won't allow for them to scream about how the sky falling, so it's not going to happen.

I think maybe Buck said he looked good to go, and they've been erring on the side of caution ever since! ;)

  14. Gappers are way more arrogant than Manitobans. Most Manitobans are self deprecating whereas gappers are chest thumpers.

less whoever was saying MB is WAY more important to Canada than SK.... pretty sure I'd take their economy over ours.   But we don't need to turn this political!

  15.

how are you guys leaving Hajrullahu out amongst our most outstanding rookies?  the kid has been rock solid all season, even when pressed into punting duties.  I've seen that affect kickers place kicking in the past, but it hasn't hurt him a bit....

    We're talking about American rookies.

OK... but even still, I'd still put him at the top amongst rookies, regardless of passport...

  16. Do we really need to be attacking the Rider fans in every single thread? Quite honestly that's more annoying than the presence of the few Rider fans we have here.

one thread I was reading yesterday where there was back & forth arguing over which city is better.... thought I was in grade 3 again.  we're all Canadian Prairie folk, and for the most part have a friendly rivalry.  Some people just have nothing better to do...

  17.

I liked what I saw from Marve in the preseason, and always thought he should have been #2...  would be nice to see them split #1 reps over the next couple weeks.  Brohm already said he's heading home this week.  If Marve sticks back and busts his ass, I can see him supplanting Brohm.

Either way... at least the injury happened going in to the bye week.   We SHOULD be able to beat Hamilton at home and keep pace for the last playoff spot!

Brohm heading home? After the injury to Willy & the way he played? That tells me all I need to know. To be a starting qb in the CFL takes sacrifce. And if a player isn't willing to do that, well?? I know it's tough to be away from family but the season ends in less than 2 months & Brohm has 6 months to be with them then. I think that is the wrong decision.

First of all, if there are no receivers to practice with because everyone has gone home...wtf do you think he's going to do by himself?  Throw the ball through a spare tire?  Come on...really, think about this.  And what's Marve going to do?  Stick back and bust his ass with who?  You're not going to get better playing pass with another player.  You need offense, defense, etc... to practice with.  Throwing at dummies aren't going to do anything for him.

You think Marve is going to be good just because he looked good in the off season?  Look where that got Cotton.

I'm not defending Brohm or putting down Marve, but you guys are jumping to conclusions again.

Do you really think that the entire team leaves the city for the bye week?  That there's no one around to practice with?  I'm glad some agree with me... much can be done to better prepare for Hamilton!

As far as Cotton... how much playing time has he had?  That's a stupid comparison...
