  1. I look at it this way.... if 17to85 went to the game this weekend, and brought the same attitude vocally in their barn, he'd probably get his ass kicked. It's okay to joke, but when you're at the game, whether you like it or not, there's a certain level of respect you need to give your opponent. You can win or lose with class, and that's what makes this rivalry for the most part, a friendly one. I plan on having a great time at the game, but I'm not going to be swearing and undermining Rider fans. We're all fans of the same game, we just cheer for different teams!
  2. No way Lions are coming back in this one.... so, who's going to Regina next Sunday??
  3. they mentioned it was the last game of Passaglia's career... the defence probably didn't even touch him. Westwood on the other hand, that would have to have been some sort of broken play, fumble recovery or something! I guess we know why they've kept Lankford around though... dual filler!
  4. like JCon said, give Nichols the first quarter... gotta give him some time in his old digs. He always seems to play well in Edmonton. Streveler gets the next 2, and let Bennett play the whole 4th. Harris, same... give him the first quarter and then let LaFrance & co handle the rest of the load. Dressler, let him pick up a catch to keep his consecutive receptions streak going, and get him outta there! Bighill, you'll need to straight jacket, and he'd still try and play. But you gotta do what you gotta do....
  5. would be nice if Bighill, Nichols, Harris & Dressler's photo ID's went mysteriously missing at the airport not allowing them to board the plane!!
  6. I went for the opener last July, and everyone was in good spirits! It was also a nice day out, Canada Day, and they were riding the high of the new stadium... something tells me the mood in a playoff game might be a little more nasty! Would still be a great game to go to regardless! Like our Stadium, don't think there's really a bad seat in the house!
  7. there's something to be said for having momentum going into the postseason... I can't see BC just rolling over and taking the L. They'll want to win and keep the roll going! Especially after a loss to the Riders. As far as resting starters.... do they even really know who their starting QB actually is??
  8. I like the idea of playing Calgary on a 4 game losing streak, but really, don't care who we end up playing. A Bombers/Riders West Final would be pretty cool! The hype buildup for that week leading up to it would be off the charts!
  9. Will give credit where credit is due.... Matt had a great game! His mobility has improved so much since the Banjo Bowl. Still not a great scrambler, but that play where he escaped a sack and got the ball to Harris... that was awesome! Showed massive fight in both of them, and got the whole stadium on their feet!
  10. And if he had paid any attention he would realize the fog was coming from the south to the north, cannon smoke would go the same direction, leaving the north side of the stadium
  11. on that deep ball to Matthews, especially when they showed the replay on the screen with an angle from field level on the sideline.... it honestly looked like a father playing football with his 12 year old son. "here kid, try and cover me" he looked a foot taller from that angle! haha
  12. I guess there were a bunch of cannons going off down Bishop too... was pretty foggy on the drive home! what a moron... That was the game of the year.... total team effort, and Nichols finally playing to his ability. I've been hard on him all season, but I think it was warranted because with the exception of the West Semi, Matt hasn't played a game like this since September 2017. Well called game by LaPo as well. That TD to Wolitarsky was all about the misdirection. TSN had a great angle, and you could just see the defence had no clue where the ball was going! So nice to see this team gelling in late October, and to be getting messages from friends & co-workers who are Rider fans saying 'damn, we really want to see you guys cross over to the East'
  13. Are you implying that the defence lost us the game against the Stamps ?? If I recall correctly, the Stamps were held to 12 points for the majority of 3 quarters, and the Bombers only TD at that point came from a short yardage package trick play to Langford for the score. Nichols did NOTHING that entire game. hopefully the O move the sticks tonight, because that was an extremely frustrating game to watch!
  14. with the new law that came info effect last week, will there be a designated "alternate" smoking area??
  15. there's no way the Bombers could afford to keep Bighill, and sign Reilly.... I'm passing on that! I'm pretty sure the brass along with the majority of fans will be okay going into next year with a Nichols - Streveler tandem and Bighill on a hopefully 3 year deal!
  16. I have been following this team religiously for a long time.... and I haven't seen a backup QB with potential like Streveler, maybe ever in the 20 years I've been a season ticket holder. So to call me a typical Winnipeg fan... whatever, to each their own. As far as the offence being designed on being short yardage plays.... I think that has as much to do with having a starting QB with limited arm strength as it does "LaPo's style". Like you have your problems with LaPo, I see nothing more than an average QB in Nichols, and have thought so since middle of last season!
  17. I'm talking about Streveler specifically and the potential he has. That's fine if you don't think he would have improved, but I think you're lying to yourself. Manziel, sure he's improved. Playing behind that O-Line, do you think anyone would be succeeding? Come on man... you can tell he's got the tools to be successful in this league. As far as "opportunities to play", other than short yardage plays, he's really only been given the 2nd half in the Banjo Bowl, which was an absolute necessity, and the 4th quarter last game. There's been many other opportunities where Streveler should have gone in, but O'Shea decided to stick with Matt even though it was the wrong decision.
  18. so you don't think he would have improved over the course of the season with experience? kind of closed minded way of looking at things, isn't it?
  19. yet many want to point to Nichols winning record and talk about how many games "he's won us". Kind of a double standard is it not? I don't think our record would be any different, if anything, probably a couple extra wins, had Streveler played the whole year. Nichols has not done anything earth shattering at all this season, where you could say 'he was the difference in this game... he really won us the game!' Is what it is though... Nichols will start, hopefully we make the playoffs, and we'll get to see what he's really made of!
  20. to clarify, I was content with Nichols play, and have been for the last month. Not beaming from ear to ear and running out to pick up his jersey. But he's been playing much smarter football. As far as the celebration goes, I just didn't like it. I think a standard celebration would have been fine, especially given his play this season. You don't see Bo Levi or Reilly, or even Massoli throw out arrogant over the top TD celebrations. I doubt we see anything like that out of him again.... just needs to act like he's been there before, and keep winning games! If that's a Grey Cup winning TD pass, then by all means, strut your stuff! I just prefer humble celebrations from our team leaders, and I'll leave it at that!
