Jets Prospects

Kyle Connor has 48 point in 27 games an average of 1.7787 points per game .

Dylan Larkin had 47 points in 35 games for the same team last year for an average of 1.343 points per game .

Jack Eichel had 71 points in 40 games in his last year of college for  an average of 1.775 points per game .

I see Connor making the team in the fall and actually signing in March and getting a couple of weeks on the Jets roster at the end of the season.

I am hoping to see Connor on one wing with Wheeler or Ehlers or Armia on the other wing with Scheif or Matthews at center.

Going forward... Connor Scheif Wheeler Armia Ehlers and Matthews/Laine/Puljujärvi look like a pretty solid top 6 for a few years.

Lemieux, Roslovic, Petan, Copp, Lowry, Harkins, De Leo,  Lipon, and Spacek will be fighting for roster spots sooner or later.

We have Comrie and Helle and Phillips for depth in goal and look to be set for some time.

Our D, on the other hand, needs some help on the depth. Besides Morrissey, there isn't much coming up the pike on the left hand side and I fully expect the Jets to take some LHD at this draft or trade for one by this time next year. There is Sami Niku and not much else. The RHD right now is very good but not a great deal coming up the pike. Hopefully Kostalek makes the team in at least a 3rd pairing position and hopefully Glover and/or Poolman and/or Nogier turn out.

  • This situation didn't start this year and won't be resolved this year. The makeup of the jets had to be addressed for the long term when they arrived here from Atlanta. Does anybody not think the Jets

So for fun assuming he makes the big club... who does he replace?

Easy answer...Perreault who is either traded or moved down to 4th line.

Its also possible the Jets load up for another run at the Cup before making tougher decisions next season.

Vesa moose bound cuz like Roslo his contract would slide.. If he plays 10 or more in the NHL first year it does not... So what that means is like Roslo... Jets basically get a free year from him.. Moose for sure, if he gets called up, only for a game or 2 like Roslo got year 1.

Nathan Smith is interesting. From Tampa area. Kid could be a steal

Sounds like Preds had him in the 4th had he been there.

Seems to be doing well. Presumably a two way deal and he’ll be with the moose all season.

Hes pretty limited. Think hes a depth guy at best... Good defensively tho but wont put up points.

He actually does. Hes an AHL lifer. Thats fine tho. The fact he wasn't signed to an NHL contract should be a giveaway that hes not good.

Really good story. Roslovic always scores among the highest in fitness testing.  Doesn’t try to gain too much weight but adds muscle every year. Wants to keep his speed.  Works on explosiveness exercises.

Never misses a workout. Monitors everything he eats. Etc.

People rave about his talent.

Not up on CHL but seems big trade.

LHD 6'1" 183lbs.

2018 round 5 #153 overall. Which was below his ranking by the 'experts.'

Vesa had a good week in the K....

- best rookie was forward Kristian Vesalainen (Jokerit), who scored 4 (2+2) points in four games (three of them being away games). The 19-year-old Finnish forward scored points in all the games he played, with an average time on ice of 16 minutes and 39 seconds.

Anyone know where you can find a list of Jets prospects playing in the World Juniors?  I know a few guys, but I'm sure there's a couple I may be missing.

Winnipeg Jets (3)
F Kristian Vesalainen – Finland – 2017 first round pick (24th)
G Mikhail Berdin – Russia – 2016 sixth round pick (157th)
D Dylan Samberg – United States – 2017 second round pick (43rd)

Vesalainen apparently turned down a chance to play with Finland.

He did.  He also pushed back on people that were upset, saying he felt it was best for his game to skip the tournament.  He said he has one year to play in Finland and wants to focus on his pro game.

Good to know.  If his motivation is to work on his pro game, he probably should have stayed here on the smaller ice...  But he seems to have a plan in place; hopefully it's the right one.
