DEVELOPING: State and federal authorities descended Tuesday on the Indiana home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle, just over two months after the former director of his charitable foundation was arrested on child pornography charges.

Fogle, 37, who became the sandwich chain’s spokesman in 2000 after losing weight as a freshman at Indiana University by eating an all-Subway diet, lives in the Indianapolis suburb of Zionsville. Authorities did not say if Tuesday’s search warrants were connected to the arrest of his former associate.

Investigators from the FBI, State Police and Postal Service arrived at 6:30 a.m. at Fogle's home, where an evidence truck was parked in the driveway,

according to the Indianapolis Star. The newspaper reported that electronics were taken from Fogle's home and analyzed in the truck. Fogle, who could not be reached for comment, was home during the search and was seen entering and leaving the evidence truck.

The FBI and Indiana State Police were on the scene Tuesday morning, Fox59 first reported. FBI spokeswoman Wendy Osborne confirmed that the agency was conducting a criminal investigation, but declined further comment.

Officials at Subway's Milford, Conn., corporate headquarters did not immediately return requests for comment.

The development comes two months after Russell Taylor, the former executive director of the Jared Foundation, which Fogle started to raise awareness to and combat childhood obesity, was arrested on federal child pornography charges. Taylor, 43, attempted suicide on May 6 at the Marion County Jail, and was placed on life support, but his health has improved, according to officials.

Taylor faces seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography in a case that began when a woman he had been emailing alerted authorities to Taylor's offer to show her images of children.

After Taylor's arrest, Fogle issued a statement that said he was "shocked" over the allegations and that the foundation was "severing all ties" with Taylor.

Fogle, who once weighed 425 pounds but now maintains a weight of 190, has taped more than 300 commercials for the food chain. He makes appearances around the country on its behalf, as well as giving speeches on the benefits of eating healthy. Early commercials featured Fogle slipping into the 62-inch waist pants he wore when he was obese, and before he began eating turkey and veggie subs exclusively at the Bloomington, Ind., Subway near the school's campus.

His former roommate, Ryan Coleman, brought attention to Fogle's diet success in an article for the school newspaper that got the attention of the restaurant chain.

I read this earlier.. I'm a bit confused. Are they looking for more evidence against Taylor?

Or is Fogle being accused of the child porn?

I think that's the question.  Different media are spinning it differently.  Most are being careful about putting his name and "child porn" together.  I've seen others that reported the house was searched as part of a child porn investigation.

For the FBI to execute a search warrant you'd think it be more targeting Fogle than looking for evidence against Taylor.  But if Fogle as some of the charity assets in his home that Taylor might have used, I could see them looking for it.

@AP: BREAKING: Feds: Ex-Subway pitchman agrees to plead guilty to child pornography, sex-with-minors charges.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/08/19/jared-fogle-court/31979091/

INDIANAPOLIS — Former Subway restaurant pitchman Jared Fogle will appear before a federal magistrate judge at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Indianapolis.

Wearing a black suit and tie, with a stone-faced expression, Fogle was surrounded by attorneys and U.S. marshals as he walked into a second-floor court chamber.

Federal prosecutors have released documents accusing Fogle of engaging in sex acts with minors and receiving child pornography, the Associated Press reported.

Documents released Wednesday by the U.S. attorney's office in Indianapolis say the 37-year-old Fogle faces one count of travel to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and one count of distribution and receipt of child pornography.

On Tuesday, WREG-TV, citing unidentified sources, said Fogle was expected to plead guilty to charges related to an investigation into possession of child pornography.

(CNN)Ahead of his initial appearance in federal court Wednesday, former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle reached a plea agreement with prosecutors that would see him serve between five and 12½ years in prison for handling child pornography and having sex with a minor.

The court will have to approve the agreement, in which Fogle pleads guilty to possessing and distributing child porn, and traveling across state lines to have sex with at least two teenage girls.

Under the plea deal, the government agrees to recommend less than 13 years in prison for Fogle. Also, Fogle's lawyers agree to ask the judge for no less than a 5-year prison term.

Just disgusting. Hope he gets the maximum prison term. People like him don't belong in society.

Took a plea deal to avoid the maximum.  Recommended sentence under the deal is 5-12 years.  Judge hasnt indicated whether he will accept the deal yet but they usually do.  Presumably Jared wanted to avoid an awful lot of nasty details coming out and the risk of a life sentence.

Kids could play with Jared Fogle’s pants in an ill-timed online game that was still live on Subway’s website Wednesday — the same day it was alleged the ex-pitchman possessed kiddie porn and solicited minors for sex.

The free “Jared’s Pants Dance” game, which has since been removed from Subway’s kids site, featured a pair of Fogle’s blue jeans which are used to catch sandwiches, bottles of water and other snacks for points.

When Rochelle Herman first heard Jared Fogle's alleged off-color comments about young girls, she was so disturbed, she knew she had to do something, she said.

"He told me that he thought middle school girls were so hot," Herman said.

"He talked about sex with underage children," she said. "It was just something that he really, really enjoyed," she said.

"I had two young children at the time, and he talked to me about installing hidden cameras in their rooms and asked me if I would choose which child I would like him to watch," she said.

By admitting to the crimes, Fogle is accepting responsibility and attempting to make amends, his defense team said in a statement.

His lawyers said he is also undergoing examination by sexual conditions experts with a goal of becoming healthy.

CNN

Disgraced former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle was sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of child pornography and crossing state lines to pay for sex with minors.

The 15-year, 8-month sentence from Federal Judge Tanya Walton Pratt was harsher than the 12-1/2 years requested by Federal prosecutors. He faced a maximum possible sentence of 50 years.

Fogle, 38, who had been free on his own recognizance since he was originally arraigned, was sent to jail immediately after the sentencing.

Fogle's attorneys argued that the charges were somewhat mitigated by the fact that he had only had sex with teenage girls who were 16 and 17 years old, not young children. They argued that longer sentences should be used for criminals who have sex with much younger children, and asked for a five-year sentence instead.

Thursday's hearing in Indianapolis included testimony from two defense witnesses, a forensic psychiatrist and a psychologist, who testified about their examinations of Fogle.

Fogle has also agreed to pay a total of $1.4 million in restitution to 14 different victims. On Thursday, the judge also imposed a fine of $175,000.
