Seth worked with Neeson on A Million Ways To Die In The West (hilarious and wildly underrated) so I think he had a hand in choosing him to play this part. 

I'm not certain this new Naked Gun is going to work out but we'll see. Neeson seems like too much of a badass tough guy for the role... Neilesn was just a schmo everyman, which was part of the humour...
