Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

 

Anyone else into this?

 

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

 

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

 

House of Cards was tremendous.

 

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

 

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

 

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

Watched the first episode. It had a decent charm but shouldn’t have been a reboot. Wasn’t worth adding to my regular rotation. Then again I have friends that love Hawaii 5.0 and it’s the same people. So maybe it’s good.

I saw the first episode  of Magnum: PI & wasn't t impressed. Haven't watched it since. Only Tom Selleck could play Thomas Magnum. I used to watch that show regularly back in the 80's.  Plus Higgins is now a woman. I guess in today's world an all male cast just isn't politically correct. It didn't seem at all like the old show & if not, why bother? They could have had an original action drama cop show from Hawaii & people would watch it.

Ironically, he didn't even last one scaramucci. 

As an aside, we decided to watch the Sopranos again (we have the box set).  man...does it ever hold up.  Incredible.  Although some of the things are products of the time, like robbing a truck of pokemon cards, watching laser disc, the new medium of DVD, those singing fish that were all the rage etc.  James Gandolfini deserved all the awards.  

ouch Rent didn't do well, but I don't think FOX promoted it enough and it probably doesn't help that they had to use dress rehersal footage for most of the airing due to one of the actors breaking his ankle before showtime

Also Vintage tv is going to become Channel M which I'm positive will still have music. they said it was going to be done by th e same people that work on vintage

The CW has started renewing their stuff and with three of their shows ending I'm hoping there will be room for that proposed Nancy Drew series that got a pilot order

They promote the heck out of the Good Doctor. I've never watched it, and probably won't as it always seemed to be a variation of House, but is it any good?
