Why would he leave the team? Don’t you think it’s important to get your 24 year old QB the majority of game reps. Perkins is 29 and can probably pick up the offense better. No doubt they see him as more of the short yardage guy. Get the kid some important reps and try to build his confidence. I don’t think this forshadows anything. I really don’t see Perkins be anything more then a short yardage and change of pace guy. He simply does not have the arm to make the wide wide field throws that are so important in the CFL.

100% on Perkins. He's the ideal QB3 here at this moment. But he's got basically zero upside or potential to be a #1 in this league. He's Dan LeFevour or Streveler. He can run, he can make you pay with his arm on some improvised plays if you cheat, and you can maybe survive a couple games with him. He might get 300 yards of offense in a great game but probably only 180 of those will be passing.

And if you're savvy as a OC/coaching staff you build a run pack around him.

Kind of interesting. Collaros played as much as DA in Montreal and VA in Calgary. Looks like TE got the 2nd most reps behind Coane in Sask. Perkins threw 9 passes each game.
