Cause JT *could* cost as much as 7- Million in cap space next year if he hits all his bonuses No matter what JT makes in bonuses this year his cap hit is $2M. All bonuses can be deferred to next year when the cap jumps by 15 million. Noeller and Goalie 1 1
Goalie Posted yesterday at 01:14 PM Report Posted yesterday at 01:14 PM Those bonuses are interesting cuz it’s basically all about winning rd 1 rd 2 rd 3 and cup final and playing in most the games. Jets made round 2 this year. Let’s assume they make rd 2 again and Toews plays in half the games atleast, that’s 500k there. But if they don’t win a round there’s no bonus.

I think bonus money counts up front, but is a playoff bonus different. A $2 million cap hit would be great, but a $7 million cap hit is an overpay. And he may well get that on the open market. Then my big concern is if that is the bar set, how much will Kyle Connor cost us in his next contract. Hope to see an extension on him soon at $9.5 million before the free agency lunacy drives up his price to &12-13 million per. His cap hit is $2M. All bonuses can be deferred to next year at the team's choosing. I would think the Jets will build their roster based on the base and push whatever bonuses he attains to next year when there is a big jump in the cap.
Goalie Posted yesterday at 01:17 PM Report Posted yesterday at 01:17 PM (edited) Jets still have 22.4 million in cap this year. If Ehlers moves on like rumored im not sure we replace him with free agent signings cuz the list is weak and im not sure who they would have interest in and who would want to come here even so they could have cap space this year also for the bonuses. But thank you for the lecture HCB on how NHL economics works...lol... You asked a question, I thought I'd offer my opinion. No lecture intended. Noeller and kelownabomberfan 1 1
iHeart Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago (edited) preseason schedule is out sigh....I know this was inevitable but still (that reminds me didn't Ehlers start up here around the same time Kane was traded? or was that after the fact I don't remember) Upgrade? Edited 1 hour ago by iHeart
BomberBall. Posted 31 minutes ago Report Posted 31 minutes ago How on earth would Mangiapane be an upgrade?
iHeart Posted 30 minutes ago Report Posted 30 minutes ago (edited) you do know I said that with a question mark right? I'm not saying he's an upgrade I'm questioning if he is Edited 13 minutes ago by iHeart
