  1. That's the point he's making about this being a recruiting fail.
  2. I'm not predicting the wheels to fall off, for the record. I think we have far and away the best roster in the league. But as guys get older, you want to be able to find guys to come in behind them. Neither Jefferson or Jeffcoat should be playing as many snaps as they did last year, and there's no one coming up behind them. We don't have any linebackers as far as I can see. I'm very happy with our depth in the secondary and our offence is pretty set, but there's some clear planning for the future that needs to happen on D that seems to be being ignored.
  3. The complete absence of LBs and DEs who can start or even take rotational roles - despite a clear need last year which has only grown - is really disappointing.
  4. Not at all. But when you look back at teams who've gone through success and eventual drop off, there's going to be signs that seem obvious in hindsight. One of those things will probably be keeping guys too long and being unable to recruit new talent. We've been a feeder team of prospects who excel with us and move onto the NFL or other teams, but this year, there's aren't any candidates to really do that...
  5. Honestly, this seems like a precursor to the current run of success ending.
  6. No way. McCrae was kept because he doubles in that pass catching/receiver role when we need him, but Salima looked like a classic RB. Needed to change the ratio to fit him and he wasn't THAT impressive.
  7. So who's our punter? I never learned their names. I see Stanton was cut and Schmitz added to the PR.
  8. I mean, he did have a 300 yard, 3 TD game in his first and only start. Threw a 65 yard TD the week before. Some selective memories happening with new hotness in town. Right. He doesn't have the mobility that Piggy has.
  9. I'm pretty sure MOS just wants to make sure he tells each guy first. Some guys are cool with just leaving a voice mail or letting guys find out on social media with everyone else.
  10. Like I said, I expect Piggy to do pretty well in a 3rd down short yardage role. But his run first mentality against lesser competition at the tail end of preseason games has proved absolutely nothing so far in terms of his ability as a starting QB. Also Dru - at least to start - was playing against the Riders starting D. Certainly not the deep cuts that Piggy played against.
  11. Again, he kept calm against guys who will be working at Dairy Queen on Monday. We've seen Dru Brown have success in real games against a team's starting Defence. It's not the same thing. Edit: And I hate sitting here feeling the need to dump on Piggy's performance, because I loved watching him and he looked great. I think he's going to be really successful for us - in the 3rd down role. But people go way overboard and make it impossible to go along with.
  12. I think he’d throw a whole lot of INTs, lol.
  13. Pigrome only got 2 drives, didn’t he? What else did you want the staff to do? Sask dominated TOP in the second half.
  14. Holy smokes people. Take a step back, lol. We have an awesome prospect for a 3rd down role. He can run a package, maybe stay on for an extra set of downs ala Strev, and help us win a Grey Cup - doing just that. Why ya gotta compare him to Hall of Famers and project him to unseat a back up we've all loved for years, who we've been saying would start on most other teams? Why you have to say he's Zach's successor?
  15. Last couple of drives watching Piggy and Salima has been the most enjoyable part of the game, for sure.
  16. Bringing my 5 year old for her first game! I bought a parking pass because she's coming. Will suck on the way in, I'm assuming, but we'll likely leave pretty early and have a quick exit.
  17. From Ed Tait's game preview: Currently injured are LB Adam Bighill, RB/WR Greg McCrae, CBs Winston Rose and Desmond Lawrence along with LB Kyrie Wilson, DE Thiadric Hansen and OL Tui Eli. https://www.bluebombers.com/2023/06/01/game-preview-pre-season-vs-ssk/ First time it's been stated that he is injured.
  18. So, now Lawler's been suspended (definitely for disciplinary reasons) due to his incident last time he played for us. F****** heck, man.
  19. If they're already better than Legs, what would be waiting for? I have no horse in this race, I just want the best players on the field. The Bombers have demonstrated multiple times that they don't trust Legs to do this job so I would not be surprised if they moved on if the competition they brought in won the competition.
  20. It's not a problem per say, but I would no longer see commentary or news links that I currently enjoy seeing/reading.
  21. F****** Twitter, man. I want to quit but I get all my news from there.
  22. No way they’re gonna keep him if someone is clearly better, either.
  23. I think that if it was a health/injury issue, Grant would have stayed with the team (like Bighill). Which is odd, because I don't see a whole lot of contenders that have been brought in over the last couple of seasons. And, even if you had complete faith in the health of the LB's and the Jeff's, you'd still think they'd want to bring in rotational/depth pieces for guys all in the their 30's.
