I thought the Bowman shot should not have been called...the refs need to let that stuff go (but the retaliation almost always get called).
However, I will take it, as the Bombers have had more than their fair share of stupid calls go against them.
The Chip Cox call on the other hand? Yeah that guy is by far the dirtiest guy in the league - and has been for yerars

Yup. Quite possible that Montreal has the best defense in the league - other than ours - right now, especially in the red zone. But yet I would have been less concerned had we scored a td on one of those 3 possessions. We took some penalties on those drives that hurt us, but cleaned that up in the 2nd half.
Ideally it would be nice to have an offense that scores 40 plus a game...but Matt Nicholls is not in that caliber, yet he is doing a lot of good stuff including not turning the ball over much
-
Uh...a better statement would be "nuke the Riders", as in beat the Riders bad. Let's not Nuke Saskathewan please as a lot of nice Bomber fans live there (my self included).

Happy Birthday Bob!
I started cheering for the Bombers in 1972, when they had Don Jonas and Mack Herron; I believe that was also the first year Bob did play by play for us on CJOB!!
-
Yup. Up next is Montreal. Kevin Glenn always seems to play well against us, but that team is struggling. Good defense though.
Labour day after that...and have to say it, "Never bet on the Bombers on Labour Day." Still, the way this team is playing well in all 3 phases of the game, we have a chance there. We could win the next 3, but it will take more of what we have been doing these last 3 weeks.

I assume you are referring to the comments by Bo Levi Mitchell regarding the Riders supposedly "hiding" players and that not counting against the cap.
First, I think the Riders are hiding players. Second, I believe every team in the league has done this in the past. Third, IMHO, the Riders will not be found to have done anything to circumvent league rules.
They can do it because they have the funds...but it hasn't seem to have helped them at this point of the season yet. At 1 -5 all I can say is I hope their ineptitude lasts at least till and including Labour Day and the Banjo Bowl!,

Yup, I noticed the same thing on those two calls. At worst the first one was not even close to being pass interference...at best the first one should not have been called and the second should have. It seems the refs really wanted to have the Riders win this one (I have no other logical explanation).

Some good thoughts there:
I would argue that we should play Davis and Bennet from this point forward. We need to see what those two bring and if we have our future starter there. Who knows? By game 10 or 12 they may show something great. Willy is not the future of this team. He will not be on our roster next year unless he is ready to accept way less pay as a backup.
Nicholls is, well, an okay backup, but there is a reason Edmonton traded him to us for next to nothing...
I am not giving up on this season but heh, there's almost no way we make the playoffs this year. Lets build for the future.

Ooops! I hope he doesn't think he still plays for the Riders...they play on Thursday!!
-
Which Saskatchewan team would that be? What years?
-
Willy needs to be pulled, now! Not only as a fan can I see that clearly he has no accuracy, but from coach O'Shea's perspective, from our managements perspective...this is a make it or break it season...the time for ego's is long gone...
-
Yeah, plus the fact that Brown had the right passport...made him that much more valuable
-
Mildly surprised at Helton's inductuon. He was a force when he played here...but it was more at the back end of his career. I believe he had more of his best years in Calgary...although I do believe he may have been our best interior D- lineman of all time (with apologies to Doug Brown)
-
Congratulations to Jordan Reeves...any one who is the son of a Bombers legend is a good guy in my books (even if he plays for the Riders).
-
Jamie Nye on 980/650 sports here in Saskatchewan figured Bryant Turner was still one of the 3 or 4 best D lineman in the league...figures he will catch on with another team quickly...he hopes its Saskatchewan

I do feel for the players a bit on this. Most of them are making "lunchbucket" salaries...and that is one of the reasons I continue to love for the CFL and why my love other leagues like the NHL has wilted over the years - CFL players are guys I can identify with...
One way to curb a bit of the discrepancy between the higher paid (and sometimes less athletic Canadian players) and the lower paid (often fill-in American) players is to raise the minimum salary in the league by 10 to 20 thousand...doubt the players union would go for that though
-
Kyle knox...do we own his cfl rights? Did I miss something?.....
-
Hmmm. Living in saskatchewan I have never heard the media here mention anything about him being a problem in the dressing room when he was with the Riders...seems to me that those rumours tend to rise when a player goes from team to team...
I for one would love to see a dominant canadian in our backfield next year...Harris would be my first choice though

3 hours ago, DR. CFL said:
A player's contract is continuos even though he does not get paid in the off season he remains under contract. Unless Durrant is cleared and deemed healthy by a neutral physician, as approved by the CFLPA and the CFL he remains as an injured player and cannot be released. This really only has an impact when he has roster bonuses due in the off season. Likely this was the case with Durrant. So there is no need for any reference to the off season in the CBA. The critical date is the date in Feb. that current contracts expire and players then become FA.
True. It's also the case that a player must pass his physical during training camp, otherwise he can be released...so Durant must still pass his physical in the spring...although it's doubtful the Riders would release him if he was almost ready...

If they have no intention of re-signing the guy, it is a nice gesture to release him now...to give him a bit more time to catch on with another team
-
Good! Now Walters can concentrate on the job at hand - turning this team from pretenders into contenders...
LDC: Who is going/Who wants to go?
in Blue Bomber Discussion

I live in Saskatoon, but will not be going. Too expensive for me and kids to all go. A ticket to the LDC sitting in the grandstands costs about $50, and I can get the same seat at Investors Group Field for $30. I will be screaming from my easy chair this year...
