A Healthy Renaud - Does He Get Back In?
gbill2004 replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I figure this is Renaud's last season with the Bombers. -
Completely off-topic (obviously) but Andy Samberg's impression of Nick Cage is probably the best thing to come out of SNL over the past 10-15 years! Not to derail the thread but this is massively false... Exactly. Nothing good has come out of SNL in the past 10-15 years. speaking of things that are massively false.... This past season sucked hard, but prior to that the cast was pretty ******* good and did a lot of really funny sketches. Said no one ever. Fact: Chris Farley doing Chippendales dance with Patrick Swayze was the best SNL skit ever.

That's pretty much what I would say. He had a couple of stops here with us. He is a big man that's for sure. He didn't look out of place out there but for whatever reason never locked up a job. Being non-import likely was the biggest thing going against him IMO. Had he been a national likely would have had a lot more playing time. I'll be interested to see how he does for you guys. He may be able to help out while you battle through injuries and be a serviceable backup later. Also being American, he likely comes at a salary cap friendly price. Non import and national mean the same thing.
-
Signing him to be our backup would've been nice. Crompton had the misfortune to be in Edmonton when the circus was at Commonwealth, much like Elliott was here in Winnipeg last year, so in both cases, their real value was unknown. I'm just nitpicking, but Elliott wasn't here last year. It was the year before. I stand (sitting actually- its hard to type while standing up) corrected. Not if you have one of these: Is that you in the picture? You're a little more "feminine" than I pictured you.

Bauming asked Willy if he's been experimenting with painkillers at practice this week. Willy wouldn't answer the question.
-
Serviceable would be a significant upgrade for us right now so I'm not complaining. After a rough start, Howard has been serviceable.
-
That's the reason their feeding Pencer, Goosen and Hinse to be able to come in as backups when injury calls. You still think Pencer is here? What team do you follow? He probably meant Swiston.
-
My guess is Knapp failed his evaluation. He's a physical specimen, but got outmuscled by the opposition in games.
-
Yep, it appears to be all about pain tolerance now, so my guess is Willy starts. Brohm and Willy are splitting reps this week, so Brohm will be more prepared than usual. Why not start Willy and if the shoulder starts giving him pain, just put Brohm in there? To me that's the best strategy.

I was chatting with Bauming last night...he figures 30/70 that Willy plays this week.

Argos @ Leos - GDT - Burke's D vs Glenn

Where do people get the idea Matthews had a bad attitude last year? I sit behind the Bombers bench and while he was injured he was the biggest cheerleader on the sidelines. Seemed like a great teammate. One thing we forget as fans is we have absolutely no idea what is going on (or off) the field.Yes, Mathews had a crappy year last year and didn't look good in the games he played in, but we have no idea what was causing his bad play. Could have been coaching, could have been an injury, could have been his emotional state. From what gbill is saying though it doesn't sound to me like he was giving up on the team. And who knows, he may be back (or not). He was injured most of last season. That's it. When he was injured he supported the team. -

You don't care that injuries had an effect, you don't care that bad coaches had an impact.. so you're just hating for the sake of hating?Doesn't Clarence Denmark look like a totally different player this year compared to last year? Denmark looked great second half of last year. -
Very good point. Bombers will have to make a decision tomorrow.
-
He's going to need that too because he's bocomming a true STUD!

Crazy. Willy is a machine! -
It's almost impossible to have turf toe heal while playing a sprinting sport, more likely it's at a tolerable pain level. I got by by taping my toe to the next one with the help of some padding in between them to create rigidity. Won't be better till the offseason, but if it's splinted right it's unlikely to get too much worse. I haven't personally examined his toe. What I meant was that he returned to play following the turf toe injury.
-
Well, the turf toe Moore already returned form so I assume that one is healed. High ankle sprains can be longer, depending on the severity. From what I’ve seen they are typically 3-6 week injuries. With Willy practicing today, I am cautiously optimistic he might actually play this week, but I also think this might be some mind games being played by the Bombers, so the Ticats won’t know which QB is starting. Realistically, if Willy is back next week I’d be ecstatic, based on how the injury initially looked.
-
Crap.... (Shaking my head)... Moore has a high ankle sprain. Turf toe was his previous unjury that he already returned from.
-
We don't really know what we have yet with Brohm. I'll go into the game cautiously optimistic. I hope you're considering that we could very well be in position to be tied with BC if we manage to pull this game out. Unfortunately, I fear that Brohm is more similar to Mike Quinn or Tee Martin then any competent backup. Yes I fully understand the importance of the game. But what options do we have? Our starter is injured so the backup starts.

Willy is definitely out this week. Brohm gets the start at QB and if he sharts the bed, we might see Marve.

Positive: Two-year starter who finished with 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks as a senior. Average-sized defensive line prospect with a solid game. Plays with good knee bend and fires off the snap with a terrific first step. Focused on by opponents but splits double-team blocks, effectively using his hands to protect himself. Keeps opponents away with violent hand punch. Keeps his feet moving on contact, plays with both power and quickness, and easily changes direction. Shows the ability to pursue down the line of scrimmage to get to the action. Negative: Does not play with consistent intensity. Marginally productive in college. Analysis: Hickman shows a good combination of athleticism and power as well as the ability to be a playmaker when he applies himself. Possessing average size, he's a potential 3-technique tackle with pass rushing skill and may also get looks at fullback based on his size and athleticism.

@Wpg_BlueBombers: #Bombers have added INT defensive lineman Greg Hickman to the PR. Hickman 6-2, 280, Florida International. Good to see but where's Thad Gibson? His absence is starting to become concerning.
