  1. I like this idea. There would be some challenges with implementing it, but I definetely like the concept.
  2. From today's Winnipeg Sun: Jerrell Jackson wanted to give another football league a try, so he forced the Ottawa RedBlacks to sign him or cut him loose. They didn't sign him, so they cut him loose. The Bombers scooped him up a few weeks ago, and he'll make his CFL debut on Saturday against the Calgary Stampeders. “I want to go out there and help them win,” Jackson said Tuesday after a chilly practice at Investors Group Field. “It's been my goal since I got here. I'm thankful coach (Mike) O'Shea and (receivers) coach (Markus) Howell gave me this opportunity. I'm just ready to go play my heart out.” Jackson bounced around the NFL after his college career at the University of Missouri came to a close three years ago. He got NFL chances with his hometown Houston Texans, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Kansas City Chiefs, but he didn't see any regular-season game action. “It's been a while since I played a full game, like, since college at the University of Missouri,” Jackson said. “So I'm anxious to go out there and make some plays.” LATE HITS Jackson will take the roster spot of Justin Wilson ... It looks like defensive linemen Jason Vega, Greg Peach and Bryant Turner won't play this week, with Deantre Harlan, Marvin Booker and Greg Hickman taking their places ... Demond Washington (head) practised on Tuesday, and he will be reassessed on Wednesday ... Left tackle Glenn January and returner Troy Stoudermire took maintenance days ... The Bombers have added Canadian receiver Ezra Millington to their practice roster.
  3. Nice analysis. Essentially the early success of the deep ball ended up hurting Willy as the season went on.
  4. Well I wouldn't expect to learn too much giving both of these guys time - there won't be enough reps to do that. They will have charted everything Portis has done in practise this year. They'll already have an idea if he's worth keeping around as a number 3 next year. Maybe give him the last series. Brohm is going to be a free agent in February. If I have 15 minutes of football to assess a QB, I'm finding out if Marve can be our number 2 next season, or if we need to pony up and keep Brohm. I suspect they'll want to get him back for camp next year, but if another team shows up with more cash in hand, what should our response be? Well, this it right there, isn't it? Has the QB order already been decided past Willy? Because they have to know, or find out. Brohm's free agency will push that question. I like what I've seen of him and I'm sure other teams will be looking in our back yard to answer some of their own back-up QB questions and I wouldn't want to just give them Brohm to look at…for nothing in return. Agreed. Re-signing Brohm should be a priority. Can never have too many good QBs.
  5. Huh?? Are you saying O'Shea doesn't consult these boards before making all decisions? My mind has just been blown
  6. My rankings: 1. Ray 2. Reilly 3. Mitchell 4. Durant 5. Glenn 6. Willy 7. Collaros 8. Crompton 9. Burris Willy has the potential to be number one overall. I fully expect him to be in the top 3 for several years.
  7. Get ready for 4 months of discussion on this.
  8. If I'm Walters I make Heenan a 3 year offer worth $1 million. I'm serious.
  9. @PentonKirk: Word on the #CFL street is former #Bombers OL Paul Swiston is joining the Montreal #Alouettes.

  11. Watman for our 2nd rounder??
  12. Does Picard play positions other than centre?
  13. Agreed. Give either one (or both) of them Drew Willy money.
  14. @Wpg_BlueBombers: #Bombers have added national receiver Ezra Millington to the practice roster. Is he any good?
  15. @garylawless: expect #argos OL Tyler Holmes to join Heenan in free agency although #redblacks will have a crack at bringing him back to his hometown #cfl @garylawless: few in #cfl circles expect Heenan to sign elsewhere but do expect him to test market and establish his worth before re-upping with #riders
  16. @garylawless: word on #cfl street is #riders OL Ben Heenan will not re-sign prior to free agency. Heenan is the prized UFA in CFL and wants to test market
  17. He took two holding penalties but otherwise I thought he was solid. O'Shea said the penalties were a result of him playing RT when he's a natural LT.
  18. He's been solid.
  19. Better chance he gets cut in the off-season when some bonus or another is due.Do you have a copy of his contract? lol
  20. We'll have to wait for Grey Cup ticket prices to be released but I wonder if they'll be artificially inflated...say by $100 per ticket?? The Grey Cup tickets don't need to be inflated. The team can inflate the 2016 or 2017 season ticket prices to make up the $100 lost.Good point. That's likely how they'll make up the $100. Hopefully they do what the Jets do and commit to only raising season ticket prices a maximum of ~3% per year.
  21. Better chance he gets cut in the off-season when some bonus or another is due. Do you have a copy of his contract?
  22. O'Shea said tonight that the coaching staff is very high on Jace and that he's a natural left tackle. My early prediction is January is a surprise TC cut next season.
  23. And it tells me you don't understand that not all sacks are the OLs fault. Lots of those sacks are on Willy.
