  1. I'm seeing this more and more: saying the quiet part out loud. Our actions when we think no one is watching and our unfiltered personal thoughts we usually keep to ourselves tell us who we really are as a person, the good and the bad. The Trump era combined with ever changing technology has really helped provide an environment for people to feel way more comfortable and supported to act a certain way and to share their unfiltered personal thoughts that otherwise would usually be frowned upon in our life experience. I think it tells us that we haven't progressed as well as we thought but more of a cycle thing. Things are suppressed and improved upon a bit until people like Trump and his enablers come along, gain power and influence, technology constantly more sophisticated helping reignite all the things we thought we were leaving behind. Rinse repeat. Historians can trace this way better than I'm trying to do here.
  2. Seriously why not? If you have nothing to hide, step up. It always seems to come back to follow the money. Money, power, influence trumps everything else. Ethics, integrity, transparency be damned. Ugh.
  3. Yup and they'll throw back at you, 'you sensitive thought experimenter peace and love anti-gun person you'.
  4. Yea understandable but video is a great thing. Refs are human, yes they make mistakes but applying this model imperfectly but consistently can negate anyone who thinks refs are biased because their team is being unfairly penalized. Maybe the NHL's hand will be forced to better endorse how games are being called and do a way better job supporting the referees to follow this model. One can hope.
  5. What's weird to me is what's the motive here? What's the reward for purposely evening up calls? To make the refs the focal point of the game? To ensure the fans of the higher penalized team don't get angry? What? This has always punished the disciplined teams. Here's a model. Just call a penalty when warranted dictated by the rule book, be consistent in how these rules are being applied during the game and don't worry about the color of the jersey, the score the game or the time you are at in the game.
  6. I predict no penalties will be called for any of the games being played tonight lol.
  7. If the NHL operated like European soccer, the Oilers would have been relegated to the WHL, not been given 1st round draft picks for losing.
  8. Actually I don’t think so. I don’t think that would even do it.
  9. Apparently once you mix in feelings you're stuck, therefore no way you can truly understand the issue (s) and get to logical solutions.
  10. This 'you're punishing us law-abiding citizens, my right to bear arms, you're not taking my guns away, my freeeeeeedom, my liberttttyyy with your stupid gun rules' argument is absurd, it's nonsense. You could use the same argument for practically everything else . Most of us are law abiding citizens, why have regulations/rules/laws/restricted access etc for anything? Seriously, suffocating.
  11. It's about time don't you think. All those first round draft picks they were rewarded with because they stunk. Oilers suck hard. Yea I'm grumpy I've been dealing with texts from Oiler fans all morning.
  12. LB has to come out and challenge. Way to deep. McDavid will eat that up every time.
  13. His post game interview indicating he hasn’t been playing well would suggest he might be aware of some of these defensive lapses.
  14. It would be interesting to know the specifics of the wheeling and dealing (if any) that go on behind the scenes when it comes to putting and claiming players off waivers i.e., between Winnipeg Ottawa and Vancouver Toronto.
  15. Ho hum is the way these types of ‘bombshell’ ‘breaking news’ reports seem to land. Even stuff like the attack on Capitol Hill that happened in real time right in front of all our faces isn’t enough to say stop this madness. We’ve seen Kellyanne Conway’s ‘Alternative facts’ phrase back in 2017 gradually take complete hold of this country and is strangling the life out of it one unchecked (other than twitter shaming)blatant lie after the other.
  16. From the Athletic Monday March 15th, 2021: The Maple Leafs have five regulation losses in their past six games. The big questions: What's wrong? And how do they fix it? Not bad, I'll take that headline. 🙂
  17. https://www.tsn.ca/morning-coffee-auston-matthews-to-the-rescue-for-toronto-maple-leafs-1.1606451 Ahh that wasn't the headline I was asking for.
  18. I get that. Where they seem to cross paths in their thinking is having a loud and vocal minority seed chaos and confusion within the system to dismantle it, in this case today the system being democracy.
  19. Finished watching the Unabomber season on Netflix and they shared excerpts of his manifesto which sounds a lot like what the GOP is trying to implement.
  20. Interesting use of words, blending rich heritage with fresh thinking. Where's that sweet spot? I'm really beginning to dislike this Covid19.
  21. Lets make it L4 and tomorrow's headline reads Leaf's call a player only meeting.
  22. I would add one more thing to your sentence: ‘Prove me otherwise’. I would love to hear from posters who disagree with this statement.
  23. Yup Riders suck talented or not.
  24. Truthfully I really don't care where the Riders are in terms of talent other then making sure we scheme correctly when playing them. The only need to be objective here is yea they are important for the league but that's as far as I need to go. I really dislike them and enjoy every minute when we beat them, not feeling the need to objectively announce if they are a good team. I'll save that announcement for the Bomber players and coaching staff in their standard pregame interviews to limit billboard material.
