  1. Special game time: high noon TSN3 The story: first of back-to-backs, this is the “game in hand” the Jets have over Colorado and Dallas, as they try to jump from 3rd back to 1st in the Central. Isles are 4 points out of a playoff spot.
  2. True that. Open question for everyone, how important do you see finishing first in the Central to be? Any of Dallas, Colorado, or Winnipeg is a strong Cup contender, and one of them is going home after round one due to a brutal division match-up, but with the wild card team right now being a white hot Predators team and the defending Cup champs and their soon to be $100 million playoff roster, are there really any easy outs or preferred opponents in round one? If I was to rank opponents from the current playoff teams, not sure who I’d fear least (LA I suppose), but Dallas sticks out to me as a team I would rather avoid - they seem to have the blueprint on how to shut the Jets down. Thoughts? Maybe this needs its own thread.
  3. Last night’s game was, in a word, frustrating. - because the passes were not crisp, be it the lousy ice, warm bouncy pucks, or whatever other excuse you want to throw out there, or just plain lack of focus - because except of 10 minutes in the back half of the second period the Jets were not playing with speed or focus -because any zone time gained was not generating shots or quality shot chances -because we did not look desperate against a team that had no reason to be desperate themselves, and bottom line got out worked by a team that does not have near our talent - that our bad special teams, which cost us in the first two months of the year, reared it’s ugly head again -that we wasted another strong performance by our back-up goalie by offering almost zero support either offensively or defensively - that we squandered an opportunity to gain ground in a time where every point is crucial in a tough battle to get first place in the division -that an effort like this follows right on the heels of a game that shows what we are capable of at our best Anyway, can’t change the past, and no point wallowing after game 69 of 82. Need a good kick in the pants and be ready to come out hard Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is our game in hand on the Avs and Stars, better make the most of it.
  4. Not only a great skill play, but high IQ by Ehlers. Knew the Devils were tired and could not make the long change, so he transitioned quickly to offence and just used his speed and vision to create space and a beauty snipe. Jets may want to cover Hughes.
  5. Apparently Rangers fans losing their minds on Twitter after the loss. Figured playing their goon would have made a difference.
  6. This was the most inspiring big win since the win in Vancouver. Jets went toe to toe with a powerhouse and played solid. Could have pushed more in the third, but controlled the game until the final 3 minutes.
  7. That flu game off has him jumping since he came back.
  8. Another power play upcoming. Exciting game so far for both teams. Connor on the PP and Jets regain the lead!
  9. Scheifele cracks it open! Nice garbage goal
  10. Laurent Brossoit needs to appear in 7 of the final 15 games to qualify for the Jennings trophy this year. If you were a coach, would you let him sneak into a game for a minute or so when Hellebuyck is playing just to get to that number? He is targeted to probably start no more than five games the rest of the year.
  11. Have to wonder if this is Bowness’ last year behind the bench? 69 years old, had already retired after Dallas before we called him back, and with his wife’s health issue and now this, plus a ready made replacement with Arniel in play, he may decide that slowing down is the way to go now.
  12. Plenty of room on the existing screens if they would use them properly, instead of half with incorrect stats and ads.
  13. Just a brutal pass leads to a Tyler Two-folli. It must be awful being a Blue Jackets fan. Nice to spread out the minutes with all 4 lines tonight. Not perfect, but more than good enough to move back into top spot in the Central.
  14. No Floyd tonight, then Barron gets one wiped out. Jets should focus on limiting shots and working the cycle this period.
  15. Vlad with the backboard carom snipe makes it 5. Paging Andrea!
  16. Stanley with a cannon from the point and Jets blowing it open now. To be fair, only his 16th game this year, so a better pace than DeMelo, Schmidt, and Samberg.
  17. Oh boy, if the Toffoli-Monahan -Ehlers line can get going and Valardi can get healthy, look out.
  18. Another Jet left unguarded in the slot and Fly doubles the Winnipeg lead. Hellebuyck positionally very solid so far, a sign he is on his game, making tough saves look easy with his size as he swallows up shots.
  19. Connor with the early ice breaker. Jets a truly different team when playing with the lead. 28-3-1 when scoring first. 14-16-4 when scored on first.
