  1. Depends on the match-up. Despite their flaws, Jets have had some brutal first round pairings the last few years (St. Louis who were on a heater and won the Cup, Edmonton who we swept, Vegas who won the Cup, and our reward for a 110 point season last year was playing the 106 point Avs who were two years removed from winning the Cup). No one seems to factor that in when considering our ouster each year. Hopefully we see Vancouver, Calgary, or even Minnesota in round one this year.

  3. I hope Helle plays well, but God I want Canada to shut this crowd up.
  4. Just heard Chantal Kreviasiuk sing Oh Canada, and after that I never want to hear whining about how bad Stacy Nattress is again.
  5. 13:29 left in the 3rd. Shortly after Ford’s goal. Faceoff in the Bruins’ end and on the left side of the screen a fan has words and gets shoved down in the aisle by another, jumps up and starts wrestling, and a few punches are thrown, drawing a crowd and security.
  6. Jets will be the top team in the. NHL going into their match with the Caps on Saturday.
  7. KFC with the empty net shorty wraps it up. Beantown beatdown indeed with another 3rd period onslaught Bruin fans saying boo-urns to their team. Couldn’t happen to a better fanbase.
  8. Yep. Scuffle between a couple of fans caught on camera. Empty net up by 3. Does Helle feel lucky?
  9. The Rat gets an early shower for whining.
  10. And the Bruin fans are fighting each other in the stands now.
  11. Parker Ford can’t lose…..but he can score!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. After a short-handed goal ties it up, The NHL’s second leading goal scorer (who will NOT be playing i. The 4 Nations Cup, BTW), answers right back. And Eglers goes bang-bang and the Jets are back up by 2!
  13. Tip in by Scheifele on the floater from Pionk and the Jets do go up by 2. FYI speaking of a redux, in the last game against Boston (8-1 win), Namestnikov scored the opener on a tap-in into an open cage on the power play, And Scheifele also scored for a 2-0 first period lead.
  14. Bullet shot by JoMo but Perfetti offside by a foot wipes out a quick 2-0 lead.
  15. Long live The Kube!!!!!! How’s that for an arcane reference? Given the result of the last meeting, I was wondering if you were going to go alliterative with something like “Beantown beat down, redux” for the thread title.
  16. New year new question: What is the biggest “what if?” in sports history?
  17. New OC in Winnipeg?
  18. At the game, and the Filipino in-house band tonight leaves something to be desired. In my case, I desire a sharp shiv to jam into my eardrums to stop the agony.
  19. Hellebuyck gets his second crack at win #300. Would be the 3rd fastest to do it apparently.
  20. Montreal might be smart to grab him. He had great chemistry with Laine in his Finnish career.
  21. Since he loved to talk about himself in the 3rd person, Rickey Henderson regrets to inform you that Rickey Henderson has passed. Rickey wants you to know that Rickey died in his sleep, as Rickey would have outrun death had Ricky been awake. Although Rickey was stolen from you all way too soon, it cannot match the number of steals Rickey accomplished during Rickey’s record setting career. Rickey will be missed. https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/21/sport/mlb-rickey-henderson-dead-at-65-spt/index.html
  22. Marty McSorley was effectively suspended for life for his high stick to the head of Donald Brashear. Originally 23 games and all playoffs in 2000, then extended to a full year suspension, during which his contract ended and he was criminally convicted for assault. Never played another game in the NHL.
  23. Drone show at the harbour front at 9:30 tonight.
  24. Had my hotel booked since January and the tickets since April. 442 row 1.
  25. Ok. I did not see the comments as political, difference of opinion there. I am torn on this issue. I think there is some dubious application by the rules and testing done by the IBA in this case that has led to some incorrect and unfortunate labelling. In the same breath, there needs to be a clearer standard for what category an athlete falls under based on genetic or hormonal or biological testing rather than what a passport says. Maybe it makes no difference, since some countries have an unfair advantage anyway with doping technology, money, or influence with the governing body. I do not believe that someone would change genders just to re-classify as female just in the hopes of gaining advantage to win a medal and for no other reason than that, seems extreme to me. But I would not disapprove of having a 3rd “transgender” category of competition if that is what it took. Thoughts?
