  1. I did not agree with Nichols being rated lower than Trevor Harris. I would argue that Nichols is at least as good, though he has not been to the Grey Cup.
  2. But they still have Huffer and Dickenson, so that is like spotting them 10 yards in a 100 yard sprint.
  3. I am rooting for Khari to right the Alouette ship but his cupboard is pretty bare. His only hope is that Pipkin will surprise everyone.
  4. I disagree about the Riders. Unless Collaros' middle name is Lazarus, I think they will be scraping bottom all season with a couple of surprise victories that the Rider faithful will have to console themselves with. They will be scraping off the excrement that Chis Jones left for a couple of years yet.
  5. I'm pretty sure that antibiotics will take care of that for you but from now on watch who you consort with.
  6. Obviously, his eyesight was badly affected as a consequence.
  7. That was in the NFL- a whole lot of different cat there, and many more NFL refugee coaches founder in the CFL than succeed. Most just cannot adjust to the 3-down, 12 player game here.

  9. The CFL has been on its deathbed too many times to count in the last 50 years and yet it always muddles through despite truly awful owners, GMs coaches and players. Maybe one of these days the league will step off the precipice but not this year.
  10. I can see Calgary and Winnipeg battling for first in the west all season. Eskies at 9&9, Riders at 6 & 12 (and probably worse than that) and BC at 10 & 8. I do worry about Nichols, though. Hamilton will carry the East without breaking a sweat. Toronto will be a pleasant surprise but Ottawa will struggle and Montreal....brrrrr.
  11. Say what you will about Khari's effectiveness as a coach in the CFL, but in every role he has been in, he has presented as intelligent and dedicated, so that gives him credibility. Sherman has no prior record to give him anything similar.
  12. And they could with Maudie Frickert behind center.
  13. Also: if your backup QB does not demonstrate the ability to push for a starting role, he has to have some pretty darned good other skills to warrant keeping. Maybe this is why McGuire is still here and Bennett is not.
  14. But that is what will doom him unless he improves a lot.
  15. The Riders are invoking the "faint hope clause" when it comes to quarterbacking.
  16. I wonder if his hockey player brothers will show up for games.
  17. I think this is likely to be a reprieve rather than an vote of confidence. Reed has to be the hands-down worst GM in the league.
  18. Not surprised about Simonise, but disappointed. I thought he would have a breakout season this year, but he just did not take that next step forward to prove he was a legit starter. I owe O'Shea an apology. I did not think Bennett would get cut but if a rookie QB comes into camp and is as good a s a vet who is probably earning more, the writing is on the wall.
  19. I was and still am an unabashed Khari fan, in his roles as a player, a coach and as a human being. I had some hope that he would one day be a coach in Winnipeg. Maybe with the CFL owning and overseeing the Alouettes, he will have a decent chance to assemble and lead a good team of his choosing.
  20. Weird mix of colours in the unis. Hard to tell them apart.
  21. IO'Shea is loyal to a fault to his veterans and at times that has been a detriment to the team. I think O'Shea sees Bennett as his kind of guy and will cut hmi all kinds of slack.
