A New Report Paints a Damning Picture of Police Killings in the Bay Area Just 7 percent of the population of the San Francisco Bay Area is Black, yet 27 percent of the people killed by the police in the region since 2015 were Black, according to a new investigation by the Bay Area News Group. In their examination of 110 police killings, reporters found that officers were disciplined in only 8 cases. None were prosecuted. The report also found racial disparities in police killings of Latinos, who make up 20 percent of the area’s population but were 27 percent of victims. Its analysis found that 20 percent of victims of police killings were not armed; of those, 40 percent were Black. In 45 percent of the cases, the reporters found no evidence that the victims had been committing a crime before they were killed. In 97 incidents, police used guns. Racist N.C. Cops Caught on Video Calling for a “Civil War” to “Wipe ‘Em off the ******* Map” On June 4, a little over a week after the death of George Floyd, a Wilmington, North Carolina, police sergeant conducting routine checks of dash-cam footage found video of two cops discussing, among other things, the arrival of “martial law.” “We are just gonna go out and start slaughtering them ******* ni‐‐‐‐‐,” one of the cops, Michael “Kevin” Piner, said. “I can’t wait. God I can’t wait.” Piner was fired on Wednesday, along with two other white officers—James “Brian” Gilmore, and Jessie E. Moore II—with whom he had conversations filled with racist threats of violence. Video of the conversation has not yet been released. But the comments are quoted in the sergeant’s report about what she heard on the video. According to the report, Piner also said, of a Black officer, “Let’s see how his boys take care of him when **** gets rough, see if they don’t put a bullet in his head.” He also complained that he saw videos on social media of people “worshipping Blacks.” Moore gets in on the racism, too, calling someone he’d arrested a “*****” and the n-word, saying she “needed a bullet in her head.” He also calls a Black judicial official a “******* ***** magistrate.” The conversation broadened out into a discussion of genocide. Per the sergeant’s report: “Officer Piner then explained to Cpl. Moore that he felt society needed a civil war to ‘wipe ’em off the ******* map. Only one of those five calls, according to research from NCRM, was shared with the press. None were posted to the White House website, a serious deviation from prior practice. “For many Russia watchers, the flurry of behind-the-scenes phone calls and other communications is a clear indication that something’s going on,” RFERL’s Mike Eckel adds. He notes, “the two countries’ diplomats have spoken at least three times over that same period, which also coincided with an unusual shipment of Russian coronavirus-related humanitarian aid to the United States.” NCRM reviewed titles of over 800 news briefings on the White House website, where the Press Office used to post details of all telephone calls between the President and foreign leaders, known as “readouts.” The White House appears to be hiding readouts from calls between President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin. This weekend, if we needed any further cofirmation, confirmed that there are no depths to which Trump is willing to go to in order to feed his ego. To Trump, it is all about dominance and submission. His ego is so fragile and brittle that he has can brook no criticism or any form of dissent that challenges his fantasy of total strength and wisdom.

Trump's ego must be fed daily or reality might creep in.

Former Trump official makes frightening prediction about the number of COVID-19 infections by the end of 2020 Former Trump FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb on Monday warned that COVID-19 infections in the United States are accelerating at an alarming rate that could see as much as half the population infected with the disease by the end of the year. Appearing on CNBC, Gottlieb argued that the rapid spread of COVID-19 in many parts of the country had already gotten out of hand to the point where they may not be much that can be done to stop it. “The community spread is pretty pervasive and we’re going to see it build pretty quickly over the next two weeks,” he said. There ought to be a stampede of insiders coming out with revelations once it becomes certain that Trump will not be in the Oval Office much longer. This will be done more for self-preservation than out of a sense of patriotism. I think we are almost there now- Trump's funders are already bailing.

It amazes me that somehow this is a surprise to Americans that this is happening exactly as predicted because they did everything wrong, including believing in a president who ordered that all social distancing stickers and posters be taken down before he would come on stage at Tulsa.

A company run by a White House ‘volunteer’ with no medical supply experience won $2.4 million federal contract for surgical gowns A company created by a former Pentagon official who describes himself as a White House volunteer for Vice President Mike Pence won a $2.4 million dollar contract in May — its first federal award — to supply the Bureau of Prisons with surgical gowns. Mathew J. Konkler, who worked in the Department of Defense during the George W. Bush administration, formed BlackPoint Distribution Company LLC in August 2019 in Indiana, state records show, but had won no federal work until May 26. The Bureau of Prisons chose the company with limited competition for a contract to supply surgical gowns to its facilities. It is at least the second contract awarded to a company formed by an individual who had worked in or volunteered for the Trump administration; a company formed by Zach Fuentes, a former White House deputy chief of staff, won a $3 million contract just days after forming to supply face masks to the Indian Health Service. The masks did not meet FDA standards for use in health care settings, and an IHS spokesman said this week that the agency is trying to return the masks to Fuentes. Just as Britain, France, Holland, Belgium, Poland etc should have been more understanding about the misunderstood Hitler. What is happening in the US is unconscionable to anyone who claims to have a conscience. There is a hair's difference between many Republicans and Democrats and polls show that some 38 million Americans are willing to take up arms to defend Trump and his actions no matter what, and if that is not insanity, I do not know what is.

This is damning to Trump and his administration. He was advised that the Russians were not only sanctioning the killing of coalition/US troops but actually paying a bounty for each kill and yet he did nothing. The lack of any defensive response from the US to counter this is an absolute description of treason. Trump ought to be charged with treason and I hope that the US armed forces will see that he is casually willing to allow the killing of US troops rather than stand up for them. It is even more damning that retired US generals and even Flynn have said nothing. It sends a message that these troops are disposable if it strokes the ego of Trump.

Everything costs something, and the American, British and Swedish examples show clearly that it is sort of a "pay me now or pay me a lot later" scenario. We have had to scrap our travel plans for this summer and fall- probably winter, too, but it is a sacrifice we have chosen to make.

It isn't. Wherever people are living in close proximity with little access to soap and water, frequent transmission vectors and poor health care, it will happen. We are seeing explosions of cases in India, central America and the prison population in the US. The harsh measures taken by China and Viet Nam have prevented the rapid transmission into southeat Asia, but that seems alsmost inevitable.

Fired Miami Cop Charged After Video Shows Him Kneeling on Black Woman’s Neck Reuters / Leah Millis A former Miami police officer has been charged with battery and misconduct after a viral video showed him pressing his knee on a Black woman’s neck as she screamed. The Miami Herald reports that a video shot by a bystander shows the officer—named as Jordy Yanes Martel—reach into the Black woman’s SUV, drag her out, press his knee onto her neck, and tase her stomach. The woman has been identified as 33-year-old Safiya Satchell. She was arrested on charges of battery on a cop and resisting with violence—but those charges have since been dismissed. Martel and another officer, Jaiver Castano, were fired last week, although Miami Gardens Police Department hasn’t confirmed why they were let go. Martel has now been charged with battery, and was also charged with official misconduct for filing two reports containing false details about the January incident.
