  1. The clearest clinical definition of insanity is the inability to act in one's own best interests. That says it all about the US these days. Edgar Cayce was a seer who lived about 1885 to1945 and made many accurate predictions, said that if America did not resolve its class divisions and struggles, it would lapse into internal violence, economic and political decline and be broken down the middle along the Mississippi river through geologic upheavals. During this time, power would pass to the west. Seems to be coming to pass.
  2. This is going to get uglier and uglier. It looks like it will be a Democrat congress and presidency with a Republican Senate, which means that the GOP will oppose and delay any legislation that passes through the congress or is initiated by Biden. What a screwed-up system and electorate where a psychopatholigical president can conspire with foreign dictators, ignore bounties on US soldiers, brag about being a sexual predator, be complicit in the deaths of many tens of thousands of Americans, mock the disabled, openly encourage white supremacists and still have damned near half the country vote for him. What Trudeau has done or is alleged to have done pales into nothingness by comparison.
  3. Big sale on fur coats coming up soon. Cue PETA outrage.
  4. Best Quotes Of The Day About The Election: Red Pill of the Day: Republican candidate who died of COVID-19 wins election. This pretty much summarizes American Democracy. Despots prefer the friendship of the dog, who, unjustly mistreated and debased, still loves and serves the man who wronged him. -Charles Fourier Fox News is tiptoeing away from Trump like someone who moving away from a guy who just farted at a party.
  5. Religion and politics have never been good company.
  6. "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups"
  7. I think it was either Lenin or Mao Tse-Tung who opined that democracy could not work in the long run because people were too stupid and too easily swayed. Judging from much of the US election results, he may have been right. No hard to guess if any black folks voted for that.
  8. As has been said, the loser in this election is America, where Trump has conclusively proven that a platform of overt racism plus a history of loathsome personal conduct, children in cages, 250,000 deaths, massive corruption and nepotism and a blatant disregard for the law is a viable path to victory. Trump ran the worst imaginable campaign against a decent, caring man and still appears to have nearly pulled it off. The USA is one small step away from becoming a fascist state and will remain so indefinitely. Sad beyond words.
  9. Current Toronto Argonauts linebacker Jeff Knox Jr. is allegedly a wanted man in his hometown of Pittsburgh. According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Lauren Lee, Knox Jr. has been charged with multiple criminal offences. Police obtained an arrest warrant Friday for Jeffrey Ali Knox Jr., 28, in connection to a shooting on Oct. 23. He is being charged with two counts of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possession and a firearms violation.
  10. Better but a long way from good.
  11. Donald Trump is not an aberration- he is the natural progression that began with Richard Nixon, and continued through the regimes of Ronald Reagan and GW Bush right up into Trump. Trump is more American than not, a distillation of all that is ugly about America. Fascism was rife in the US in the 1930's, supported by the "Christian" right and public figures such as Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh. They fought long and hard to keep the US neutral in WW2, which would probably have meant an eventual Nazi victory, which was what they wanted. Prescott Bush laundered Nazi wealth into the oilfields of Texas and Oklahoma, creating a dynasty out of the blood money. https://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/a0NGGOX_460svvp9.webm This will not be over for a very long time, if ever. The only way this sort of thing (Trump) will not re-surface for along time is if there is a parade to the courts and jails for all those who thumbed theirs noses at the law and decency and those who aided and abetted them, It would be an act of cowardice if Trump is pardoned and allowed to keep his ill-gotten gains, but an abcess has to be lanced in order to heal properly.
  12. Deutsche Bank may have to close or at least dramatically restructure because they are not going to get a lot of their money back from Trump, as he overvalued his properties for lien purposes, and that is fraud. It seems like he bribed or dramatically misled one or two senior executives in the commercial loans section. Deutsche Bank is deeply embarrassed to be exposed over their degree of complicity/stupidity/gullibility and the only way they will be able to salvage anything (credibility or funds) is to move on Trump as quickly as possible ahead of other creditors, including Russian and Chinese. Trump apparently signed personal guarantees for many of his loans, so he stand to lose most, if not all of his personal assets that he has not hidden or transferred to his sons. Gonna be interesting.
  13. Kentucky State Police Training Documents Urged Cadets to Be ‘Ruthless’ in Their Violence, Quoted Hitler and Robert E. Lee -Anne Branigin A training program for Kentucky State Police quoted Adolf Hitler and the Nazis not once, not twice, but three times, a student newspaper in Louisville recently reported.
  14. Supporters of President Donald Trump have found another way to suppress votes that are likely to favor Democrats: using caravans of motorists to make it harder to get to a polling place. On Sunday — two days before Election Day — one such caravan of pro-Trump motorists, according to the Independent, caused voters in Temecula, California to call the police. "The supporters paraded for 60 miles through Riverside County on Sunday afternoon before gathering at the city's (Ronald Reagan) Sports Park," The Independent's Stuti Mishra reports. "However, the crowd and their vehicles also ended up obstructing the access to the site, which included a voting center." Brooke Federico, spokesperson for Riverside County — which is east of Los Angeles — told the Los Angeles Times, "Law enforcement was contacted to ensure that access to the parking lot and voter assistance center was clear. The Sheriff's Department responded and cleared access to the parking lot and voter assistance center." https://www.salon.com/2020/11/02/trump-is-encouraging-anti-democratic-violence--but-dont-let-that-stop-you/ People are worried, with good reason, that this situation will get worse and that we'll see more violence, or threats of violence, this week and possibly thereafter, especially if Trump is losing and he turns to armed right-wing goons in an effort to prevent both voting and vote-counting. Salon's Chauncey DeVega published an interview with counterinsurgency expert David Kilcullen on Monday, in which Kilcullen warned that there are right wing groups that are "motivated and mobilized and willing to engage in violence."
  15. We have a looming problem- there is either a shortage or rationing of N95 masks, as well as PPE gowns and gloves in many of the hospitals and nursing homes . This is so prevalent that nurses are not eating or going to the bathroom often for fear that there will be no replacement PPEs when they have to gown up again. Often the staff are using the non-N95 masks and some are contracting the virus. This is entirely preventable and comes down to attempted cost-saving by management.
  16. Trump has broadly hinted (and then pretended to walk it back) that if he jumps out to an early lead in the election, he will declare himself the victor and disregard any further election results. Putin will be soooo proud.
  17. Where have these been in protesting the conduct of the racist members of their forces? In military and para-military forces, the recruits are conditioned to maintain a united front at all times and obey commands without question.
  18. Nothing less than a massive repudiation of Trump and the GOP will serve to save the US and the Republican party. A close win for the Democrats will only strengthen the right-wing/white supremacists belief that they are the natural ruling party of America and all the crap they have pulled is now acceptable politics. We can only hope that Biden, upon winning, will immediately appoint a special prosecutor or prosecutors to bring all of this rotten administration into court. I fear that Trump will demand an unconditional pardon for himself and maybe his immediate family or he will loose his rabid followers onto American streets. We already know that the majority of police will turn a blind eye onto right-wing violence, and most of the rest will remain silent behind the blue wall.
  19. The naked truth is that Trump and the GOP will resort to any means at their disposal to retain power. Violence, intimidation, semi-legal obstruction, and voter suppression are all fair game so far they are concerned. They have enlisted/bought enough African-Americans to provide the thinnest of veneers of respectibility, much as Hitler enlisted Jewish lawyers in pre-war Germany to calm Jewish fears.
  20. Cops Pepper-Spray Voters as They March to Polls in NC https://www.thedailybeast.com/cops-pepper-spray-voters-as-they-march-to-polls-in-graham-north-carolina?ref=home “I saw a little girl, probably five, being carried off sobbing and coughing. She was dressed as a fairy or a princess,” one attendee said. GRAHAM, North Carolina—On the final day of early voting in North Carolina, police in Alamance County pepper-sprayed a group of voters who were marching to the polls, leaving demonstrators injured and vomiting in the streets. At least one journalist was arrested in the chaotic showdown on Saturday in Alamance County, a red county but one that may decide which party controls the state legislature next year. About 250 people—most of them Black—were taking part in an event called I Am Change Legacy March to the Polls and on their penultimate stop before visiting a polling place in downtown Graham when cops intervened.
  21. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be headed in that direction. The right-wingers are being urged on by not only Trump but many in the GOP as well. The sales of firearms and ammunition is spiralling upward, the rhetoric is escalating and the incidents of right-wing and police attacks on non-violent protestors are not being challenged by Department of Justice for civil rights violations. Sooner or later some on the left will respond in kind, and if Trump is in still in power, he will inflame the situation by praising the racists. The next civil war that is pending will not be an all-out conflict as in the most recent one, but armed skirmishes within the inner cities while the police essentially stand by and even offer tacit support to the white supremacists. When the Nazis started ascending to power in Germany, the police and military supported them and did not act out of conscience at all, so we can expect much the same in the US. The only hope is that Trump has insulted the US military so much and so often that they may well decide to support his ouster.
  22. One of the Biden vehicles was hit by a Trump vehicle, whether by accident or design but the police were present and did.....nothing. Should it come to violence, it is pretty obvious whose side the police would be on.
