  1. Even the smartest GMs make mistakes, but the difference is that the dumb ones refuse to admit it or change. The smart GMs make a mental note, examine how the boo-boo came to be and don't do it again. This promotes longevity.
  2. If the players see O'Shea as the problem (or a big part of it), they will rise up and play their best. You see it all the time when a head coach, particularly an unpopular one, gets sacked, the team typically goes on a run. So......yes, I'm saying there's a chance.
  3. If it comes to that, our hope has to be that Walters and/or Wade Miller will step in. Whether they fire O'Shea or overrule his decision-making powers, he is equally done as a head coach here.
  4. I am expecting a loss but fearing a blowout. But if that's what it takes to force a major shakeup, I can live with it.
  5. The Stumps look like a beaten team.
  6. Its not the losses per se. Its the infuriating way O'Shea fumbles away talent and opportunity and sleepwalks into losses.
  7. But O'Shea waxes poetic in describing his talents and potential. And yes, Case will be the starting kick returner tomorrow.
  8. Disagree. The concerns began last year and continued.
  9. Since Wade has the final sayso, he has the personality and authority to roll heads if necessary.
  10. Gotta admit that the Riders are playing way better than the sad-sack lot we have seen ad nauseum for the past few years. Amazing what a new good coach with a different attitude will do.
  11. Montreal's linebacking needs a substantial upgrading. Alexander is a better QB than Evans.
  12. Agreed. The players know far better than we that their jobs depend on their performances, and if they see that the coach(es) and/or management have no accountability for their actions or inactions, that will be a divisive issue.
  13. In the Free Press today, it was reported that Ford was refusing to execute certain plays to the displeasure of the late and unlamented Chris Jones. Moreover, apparently there is significant friction between Ford and Bethel-Thompson. Sooo.....Ford might be available if NIH factor is not at play in the Bomber organization.
  14. I have not watched Walters, but my recollection of Wade Miller as a player was that he would be royally ticked if/when the Bombers lost. That would seem to be a core personality trait and thus I cannot see that this sort of thing will be allowed to continue much longer. Labour Day at most.
  15. Case looked to be quicker and probably faster but I saw little evidence about evasiveness or ability to read blocking. I would be willing to give him another shot but it would help his case a lot of he had potential to be a good receiver.
  16. If Walters & Co cannot find a credible quarterback out there who could challenge for a starter's role, they all ought to be sacked. If the Riders can do it.... Further along that line of thought, if the Riders can suddenly vault from a laughingstock to a first place team, there can be no excuse for the Bombers. If Biden can see the writing on the wall and take one for his team, Bighill ought to take note.
  17. There is a truism that it is far better to be trusted than liked and pro athletes who are for the most part dependent on each other to win are acutely aware when teammates are not holding up their end of things. They are equally dependent on their coaches. Ultimately, they may grieve when a friend is cut but they have to believe it was for the team's best interest. If some players are unduly favoured, that must lead to dissent and resentments..
  18. If the good players who are trying continue to see players who ought not to be on the field being trotted out game after game, frustration will rise leading to undisciplined play and subsequent penalties. I think the team is very close to that.
