We ALL get more brittle as time passes and take longer to recuperate. Collaros is not unique in that. Lets assume that Collaros goes back in and gets racked up. Then his value as trade bait immediately drops to zero. How does putting your second best (but most expensive) QB out onto the field benefit anyone except maybe O'Shea's ego?

I believe I have considered this thoroughly. Collaros has become increasingly brittle and if Wayne Gretzky can be traded, anyone can be. At this point. Brown has shown himself to be better than Collaros already and we have a promising Elgersma and useful Perkins. Why would you have you most expensive played who is no longer the best sit on the bench or, as is most likely with O'Shea, trot him out onto the field knowing that he is not the best chance of winning? We have several substantial holes in our lineup that need filling, and it seems there may be an opportunity to do so. I fully expect that O'Shea will dig his heels in and oppose moving Collaros and continue to start him if at all possiblle,a nd that will probably doom the season.

Time for Walters to summon up his courage and override O'Shea.

With O'Shea as head coach, is this a surprise?

O'Shea is very unlikely to agree to a trade, but it would be in the best interest of the team and even Collaros. That is the nature of the business side of pro sports. Sentimentality buggers things up.

Then, because his wife is employed in Ontario, let him dwindle away in Ontario.

Collaros' fate should be at least as much in Walters' hands. Next year Collaros will be worth almost nada and we could use a good wide receiver and MLB right now. Dru has been everything we hoped for, and more, so Collaros is redundant at best, and Perkins has more to offer that he hasn't been allowed to show.

Maybe Ellsbury is not a natural center, but a better guard. O'Shea is wasting ELI.

Okay, to say what most, if not all here are thinking, Dru looked better with his lack of experience with this O-line and receiving corps, than Collaros has looked for the past couple of years. He is the QB of the day and will serve well until Elgersma is ready, and trotting out Collaros again serves only to delay the development and integration of Brown and Elgersma. Collaros has been a fixture here for some time and parting with him is going to be painful, but the future waits for no one. Collaros still has value, so Walters has to put him on the block.

It's part of a new male contraceptive program. He puts a stone in his shoe.........and then goes limp.
