The last minute of the game felt Lapo-like.We've had too many LaPolice/Rheinbold/Burke moments of late and the scary thing is that Willy sure as spit looks like he is regressing. How does he look like he's regressing? Lmfao. Calgary has one of the best pass defences in the league.. He did rather well did he not?The things people chose to try and claim around here at times..When Willy's game deserted him last year, his biggest failing was his inability to handle blitzes and folding in crunch time. That's pretty much what happened tonight. Uh. I saw him handle the blitz really well up til the last play of the game with the int. not sure what game you were watching. He either tossed it away or dumped it off for small gains.. He also made some great throws in the face of it too. Great retort. Willy was fine until he threw a game killing interception... or didnt call time out on a drive killing penalty. You either have it in the clutch or you dont. Right now, Willy is not a clutch guy. When the pressure is on he gets worse. That's just fact. Will it improve, God I hope so. It's his 2nd year as a starter but hes' going to be 29 in November. He's actually past his prime in football years. Or entering the final stages of it. Let's not exagerate here. Many quarterbacks do not enter their prime years until there early to mid-30s especially those who haven't had a chance to start on a regular basis until their late twenties. See Anthony Calvillo, Danny McManus, Henry Burris. Superstar QBs in the NFL have had their best years in their 30s as well ie. Manning, Brady, Roethlisberger, Brees

I think we Bomber fans became a little overly excited with Willy the comeback kid after the 5-1 start last year. Since then, I think he has one fourth quarter comeback (against Sasky) and mostly pedestrian efforts marked by indecisiveness and questionable decision-making. People love to rag on Glenn for ill-timed interceptions but it's more than apparent Willy has thrown his fair share or poorly timed INTs as well. See today's game for the latest evidence.
  3. Yup. We were right there. Even after the gaffe on field goal we STILL had a chance to get it in range but that INT broke the camels back. We were right there. That was only the last of a whole series of screwups and not-good-enoughs which started after the first quarter. If it was one or two things, it would be easily fixable, but this edition is lacking in so many areas that this season to get back on track is not likely to be enough. I think the Bombers are fortunate in that several other teams are dealing with injuries to their starters both on offense (all those long term injuries to quarterbacks!) and on defense whereas the Bombers are healthy. There sure aren't any excuses for the Bombers to not get the minimum 8 wins for a playoff spot.
  4. They hung with the champs until the very end.
  5. Overall I thought Willy handled the Stamps defense reasonably well, but would it kill him and/or Marcelle to try some intermediate passes in the 15-25 yard range? If you rely on nothing but 5 - 10 yard passes to drive down the field odds are you will inevitably make a mistake resulting in a turnover, punt or field goal attempt. The hallmark of a Beuillfeuille offense - short passing plays interspersed with a couple long bomb completions, nothing in-between.
  6. 58 yard field goals do not go through the endzone.

  8. Yup. I concur. We were thisclose to winning this game. Easily within our grasp. We did ourselves in more so then Calgary bested us. It's not as easy as you think. The Bombers have been losing the turnover battle for 5 of the past 6 seasons and 7 of the last 8. Teams with below average talent and coaching tend to turn over the ball more. Season is young but right now the Bombers are in the negative for turnovers.
  9. At what point does glacier-like speed of improvement become no longer acceptable when several other teams have proven that you can turn a crappy team into a Grey Cup contender in two years? Why can't we be a Grey Cup contender this year? We are 500 with both of our losses coming to the teams that were in the Grey Cup last year. The first loss with our starting QB out and this loss by a single point with 4 turnovers. It's so early in the year but it feels like people have already had enough of this regime Might stem from the fact that the Bombers are playing their "best" lineup with no injuries..unless there are some players on the practice roster that are better (new MLB please) while the Stamps are without several key players including 2 OL. A healthy Stamps team might crush the Bombers by 3 or more TDs...kinda like the Ticats did.
  10. Because it happened at the most crucial time of the game. Also, Why not go for it on third down, even if you need 11 yards. Higher percentage of success than a 58 yard field goal (probably 10% chance of success)
  11. The lack of talent found from down south for our front 7 the last two off seasons has been pathetic.
  12. O'shea reminding me of Lapolice more everyday. The time count violation and then a ridiculous decision to go for a 58 yard field goal instead of gambling on third down which stands a greater chance of success.
  13. I noticed for the upcoming BC game there are seats in certain sections of the north and south endzone priced at $23.50 (1 youth and 1 adult) which includes the service fees. It's a Salisbury House offer that requires a code. Half price seats. Good to see the club forming a partnership with Sals to provide a low price alternative for families for those tough-to-sell seats.
  14. Isn't that pretty much normal in Regina? Haha, well I certainly don't believe that second story. No way the friend went to bed with his sister "by accident."
  15. Not really related to the Riders sucking but.... Quotes from one of the Riderfan forum members in regards to Craven Country Music Festival -Funniest thing I ever heard was some drunk dude and chick hooking up one night out there, then realizing the next night they were distant cousins... -friend of mine went to bed with his sister by accident back in 2009.
  16. Throws three TDs after the INT and fails to perform in the clutch. Interesting.... The defense failed to perform in the clutch. How many high pressure games has he won? How many championship rings has he earned? All the stats in the world .. but can't come through when the chips are down. Depends what you mean by high pressure. He was one 5 playoff games and I remember him beating the Bombers in the final game of the 2009 season that secured 2nd spot in the East for Hamilton and eliminated Winnipeg from the playoffs. He has the same number of championship rings as Dieter Brock, Milt Stegall, Juron Bolden and Charles Roberts (who played a big role in the Bombers losing the 2006 East Semi-final and 2007 Grey Cup by the way). Glenn came through this weekend with 3 Tds after the INT. The defense did not come through when the chips were down. Honestly it's funny when I read any gameday threads with Kevin Glenn playing for team x over the last several years. Regardless of when he throws an INT - first, second, third or fourth quarter - he somehow fails to perform in the clutch and cost his team the game. When most other QBs throw an INT it is glossed over. Newsflash: Glenn has won games in which he has thrown an INT. I know it's hard to believe but he has. But never, it seems, the ones that matter most. I just said he won 5 playoff games. Are you saying those don't matter most?

  19. Don't forget Broom. That's just sad. And I also have no idea why it would be an insult. Broom is terrible. Other than being close in spelling, I don't see the thought process behind it. Bombers might be better off with a broom at QB than Brohm next week. Less chance of turnovers.
  20. Until the Barker/Milanovich regime, we hadn't developed a QB in well over 30 years. Bombers are getting there. Been 25 years since they developed a good QB. Hamilton hasn't developed anyone decent in 30 years.
  21. Did he actually say that it was the offense's fault? Over 500 yards in offense, 470 courtesy of the passing game. A late TD to take the lead and the defense can't stop a last minute drive down the field for a TD to tie the game nor can the Sask defense stop the Argos from scoring a TD in both drives of overtime and it's the offense's fault?!
  22. Do players put in less hours of practice per week than they did 10 or 20 years ago as part of the new CFLPA agreement with the league? Could this lead to the increase in penalties like illegal procedure, 13 men in the huddle that we have seen the past few years?
  23. My point is you cannot expect that on a regular basis especially with all the penalties being called on passing plays (not necessarily pass interference by the way) which artificially decreases the number of real passing plays in a game. Also, as I stated in my previous quote, you will only see a 50-50 split if the opposing defense and coordinator are incapable or incompetent in stopping the run. This was the case with Saskatchewan last week. So when the Bombers have a 60-40 or 65-35 split in favor of the passing game for the majority of their games this season, don't start crying about them not running enough. A team normally cannot run on first down every time as it's entirely to predictable nor can they run on second and long as it's a low percentage play for a first down. This necessitates a stronger emphasis on the passing game. Add in the fact that we have a QB who is one of the weakest scramblers in the league and you should probably not expect to see more than 20 - 22 runs in a game.
  24. Is that a pro Danny Mac comment or a negative because up to this point Collaros is the better QB.
  25. Expecting a 50-50 split between the run and pass game in the CFL is asinine. It's the CFL - a three-down league. If you run it on first down and only gain a few yards then you pretty much are guaranteed to pass on second. You also can't consistently run on first down drive after drive. Most players and D-coordinators will quickly recognize this and adjust accordingly unless either is completely incapable or incompetent. A realistic scenario over the course of the season would be 33-35 passes and 20 - 22 rushes and those rushes would include a few QB sneaks. Only rarely will you see a 50-50 split in a CFL game. That happens when the O-Line is dominating the line of scrimmage allowing the running back to gain 5+yards every play...and it usually happens when the team running ball has a substantial lead. It's simply not a viable option if the running back is gaining less than 5 yards on first down or failing to capitilize on second and short (say 3 yards or less) stalling a drive. I'm afraid if you want to see a 50-50 split between running and passing on a semi-consistent basis then you will need to watch the NFL. 4 downs allows much more flexibility with the run-pass split especially on second down.
