Yeah I am pretty stoked with the Eli pick..guy is a beast and if he is anywhere near football ready..can see him actually stepping right in at some point this year..he's good We have a pretty damn good supply/depth in national high end oline talent..not to mention 2 of the top 4 import tackles to bookend them with..if I recal correctly too..Eli can play center or tackle
-
A year or two down the road can totally see those 3 in the interior...and I would bet too that the flyin Hawaiian actually becomes a better center than Goosen
-
and you forget Neufeld..who is no slouch either and brings nastiness to the line..and has been injury free for over 2 season's now for those who used to go on and on about that
-
Walters press conference for one...he is related to Mcmanus wife's family..they have talked to him a lot..he has expressed desire to play again...and is excited it's Winnipeg as he has some family ties to here as well...not verbatim but close enough to what he said
-
i know...fantastically true hahaha
-
even with the injury..I think Kongbo was best player available in the draft..also I think that Tavita is the best o-lineman available, and now that he wants to get back playing....that was the steal of draft in the 5th round amazingly...a 3 year starter at a Div 1 school says something
-
pretty good draft this year...possibly could have 4 guys make the roster out of camp...really like the Kongbo pick..guys a beast..loves playing AND the big factor wants to be here and sign..he will be a perfect rotation piece this year with the Jeff's as he gets his feet wet in the CFL game...and Love the Asotui pick..a top 1-3 pick nabbed in round 5...doesn't take o-lineman much to get back to playing form and I am sure he has been still training and has most his size...most 6'4" 300+ pound Samoan's stay big anyway...so if the fire is there, combine him with our 4th pick..Gray..Speller and Couture and our young lineman pipeline is just fine. Like the Olivera pick too...him and Augustine give us good depth now, and I wouldn't mind, or be surprised to see sets with one of them in the Backfield with Harris, or with Harris in a slot position at times...taking wear and tear off of him and also allowing him to be a mismatch as a receiver against defenses'
-
and is rumoured not a good team guy, and was disliked by a lot of teamates...take it for whats it's worth
-
HE absolutely is who i would grab with 5 or 4 pick...he won't be there with our 3rd pick and can totally see him being..or eclipsing what Boakeng has done in Edmonton
-
we go o-line/dline I believe in our first 2 picks, I would like Kongbo over Betts personally and i can see us with 3rd pick going best player available who is a DB type player if any of value are left, if not then its the best Reciever /RB available
-
He wont stick in NFL...nope..never
-
I'd prefer we didn't stand tried and true to this impeccable character thing..no issues past or present and actually employed some guys who walked on the edge or at times can be viewed as for a lack of a better term an assclown...because when you look at all championship teams they all have guys who are pricks..have issues...are dirty and stradle the line of common sense at times....the 5 years of having choir boys all throughout the club has won us nothing
-
YEAH....But the CFL as the league can sit and have nothing going on..revenue in or out much longer than the majority of the CFLPA can...thats what he getting at...I doubt it comes to that anyway and just the standard media posturing, tho that being said the players have made concessions for years, and took a lot of things on the chin, and this time around they want a little fair compensation and treatment and have the best interest of their members now, and moving forward taken into consideration

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
Booch replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
well...keep with the dumb rule tweeks...and trying to be innovative to hope in catching the interest of a new audience and the XFL will vanish just as quickly as it's first attempt -
Using the "Jones is a 5 yr vet unable to crack lineup " reasoning is foolish at best...Few if any Canadian DB's crack a starting lineup their first year or two..heck few players of any position do..Loffler took hold of the position when he did as Jones was working more as the boundary corner and wasn't taking many practice reps at safety...and last year..year 4 was primed to supplant Loffler and his limited skill-set, but was injured...but none the less he is coming into this year as a seasoned vet with more than adequate skills and athleticism...more than Loffler has to take over the role...stats be damned He will also allow us to mix up and use different coverage schemes and change the defensive look more than we could before, and that in itself will make us a stronger defense especially with what will probably be a lot of heat being brought from the Jeff's..Bryant and Neveis and Biggie...
-
Shepley is as much a real deal as is Gray (which is hardly a lock to crack starting lineup)...probably to a lesser degree as Gray was looked at as a better prospect and did survive in the NFL longer..well actually Shepley didn't really survive there..Bladek yes may improve but he may not even be ready until labour as he got hurt right at the end of the season, and returning from a ACL rebuild is much easier for a smaller guy than for a big lineman..so for them to count on him now is a pipe dream. Also with their pop gun offence, and losing 3 of their big play makers on defense, they will be lucky to be a 4-6 win team...not to mention unproven coaching staff in the top spot and GM
-
Who did they add to improve that O-line? Labatte another year older and declining..Bladek (who wasnt that good anyway yet) coming off ACL injury and may not be even ready..Clarke just..well sucks..StJohn who showed nothing isnt signed..their 2 American tackles are average at best...Blake is there but isnt a dominant guy by any means and isnt getting any younger and Shepley has shown nothing and is just a rookie who hasnt had live gamecaction since his last year of school. Factor in mush melon at QB and Roosevalt in a similar situation and that's a whole lot of issues.. Powell will not put them over the top and prob by week 8 or so will wonder why he signed there
-
Sam Mills, Reggie White, Kelvin Bryant, Nate newton
-
THE xfl though will follow a similar fate..maybe not as fast but I bet only one "complete" season Probably see a flurry of signings in the CFL though in the next few days...not earth shattering ones but significant ones in a few instances...
-
did that league as well not state that they will not be signing players with criminal records/arrests...spousal abuse type stuff? basically any substantiated character flaws?...if so...he's out of that league as well
-
poor guy...
