Tons of DBs currently on the market. We should be able to get one at a pretty team friendly contract as depth. Maybe an under the radar guy like Trumaine Washington. Similar kind of trajectory that Winston Rose was on when we first signed him.

It is absolutely grey for sure. Neither side was particularly interested in making a deal happen so there was none. Could the Bombers have paid him...sure they could have....and might even have got their money's worth, could Harris have taken a shave and stayed at home and cemented his place on the ring of honor with a farewell tour....sure he could have. However, it didn't seem that either side was particularly interested in meeting in the middle and so the fault goes both ways.

We know Collaros and Harris spent some together in Toronto. Maybe they just aren't the right fit together? Not saying they aren't, but I'm not sure how they got along. Crazy times in the CFL this year. Must be a receiver shortage being forecasted. lol

I think Wally's decision making on these matters is a little overstated, I mean without Wally thinking Andrew was washed up we don't get the remarkable 5 seasons we had of him. However, yes, Wally ran it like a business and had a lot of success. I think Walters is more like Hufnagel who lets guys go to FA who want to chase the dollars and then comes up with a bumper crop of rookies to replace them. We have entered that kind of stability now ourselves.

Ok maybe that's more indicative of how I feel too. Loss of respect was too harsh. However, Andrew Harris did take a nice fat signing bonus home in the covid lockout so he didn't lose his full salary.

I thought Harris would take the shave too, knew it was definitely going to happen, but didn't think he would leave the Bombers for a few extra dollars after, by his own admission, playing a heavy role in convincing guys to stay here for less. But it is what it is and I love Harris but honestly lost a little respect for him yesterday. However, that's easy for me to say because I'm not in his shoes. I honestly think he will look back on this decision after he hangs up his cleats and regret his decision to not finish it out with us. Adams did nothing wrong, and was the consummate professional here. I hope he rejuvenates in Ottawa and has a bounce back season. Guy sacrificed his last few years here, leaving money on the table to stay, but we needed to go in a different direction after losing Lawler because I think we need more out of his spot than he can provide at his age. I expect that Adams place in the lineup will be one that if a rookie doesn't step up early that Walters spends some money on.

I disagree that chasing a few dollars more in Toronto was the right move by Harris but it's not my choice to make. However, yea....we have Brady and Johnny and will be just fine at RB.

It was pretty clear to me during 2021 that Adams and Harris were likely on their way out. Many here discussed it during the season, not sure why some are so surprised by it now. We all raved about the job that Brady and Johnny were doing in Andrew's absence, we all had questions about Adams diminished returns on offence. This realistically was how I saw the offseason going down midway through last season when Harris went down for the 2nd time and Adams had all but vanished from our offence. Same thing the past few FA frenzies. Walters has been quiet, we lose a couple players and people wonder if we did enough and why we didn't do more forgetting that an offseason of stellar work was done from the end of the season to now.

Trevor Harris must feel this is the best situation for his career. He could have got that 125k from anybody.

It's sad that our heroes age out sometimes. Adams and Harris will always hold fond memories to me but realistically the impact of losing them will not be felt as highly as if we could not re-sign the Jeffs or Big Stan and Yoshi for instance. Choices had to be made by Walters and you gotta look where your best plan B is in effect and not let the heart over rule the head sometimes.

I agree. My main concern about McKnight has more to do with his size and probable role in the offence. I would like to see us add a little more beef to our receiving corps, but if he has a great offseason and can't be kept off the field this year I'm all for it. I'm not sure what he can make outside of football in Toronto, but I know if he had come back this year at a shave the goodwill and goodbye tour would have landed him more in Winnipeg.

We still have a full draft class to come in that likely nets us an OL and DL I would think. I've heard it's not a very deep draft but the top 20 are pretty darn good.

Andrew Harris could have been a Bomber this year. The choice was his too. Some people saying that the Bombers did him wrong but he owns a big part of it as well. We know guys like Jeffcoat and Bighill are leaving 50-100k on the table to come back, they chose to be Bombers. Andrew had that same choice in front of him, and at age 35 he should have known that this was going to be the way it ended with us someday. If he feels that an extra 50k in Toronto is the way he wants this to go down...that's on him. This won't be a popular take but he valued himself higher than the team imo, and that's his right to do so, but let's not spit out the narrative that the Bombers did anything wrong in their treatment of him. If Harris wanted to sign a contract more indicative of his age, and diminished reliability, he is still a Bomber.

Who got better? Not Calgary or the Riders. The teams that sucked the most last year made the biggest splash but the gap was also huge for them.

Harris has earned his legacy here, but we needed other players more than we needed Harris. A lot of us running on high emotion around here about how the team won't be the same without Harris. BS. O'Shea has his finger on the pulse of that dressing room and if he thought for five minutes that the locker room couldn't survive the loss of Harris then Harris would still be a Bomber.

Without an OL they will struggle. It all starts there on O.

We are still the best team in the league. Book it. Stove missed significant games in 2021 and we won without him, same with Harris, Lawler has been replaced effectively although maybe not fully, Gray was in waiting for a long time and will fill Desjarlais shoes, and Darby played great but so did Maston at that position. I think the depth is already there to mitigate most of our losses. We need to restock the cupboards a bit but on paper we are the best team in the league still imo.

Unlikely to be drafted but will likely get some UDFA consideration.

At 35 sometimes all your efforts at conditioning just arent enough. When the body goes it goes and at 35 the Bombers should be looking under the hood.

Yes, 2 months later. We did not get our money's worth out of him last year. Hate to be crass but those are the facts. This year he should expect that we would want to know if he has another season left in him. I realize that you are a big fan of his but if you take a step back from the emotion you will see that this is a totally reasonable ask. It is a good day for them, but not a good offseason in general. They lost a lot of players.

At his age you need to know what you are getting. That's not an insult that's reality. Maybe nothing has changed but there were reports that he came to camp less than 100% last year. The Bombers likely would not want to take a chance again.

It's like anything else. Harris has high mileage so you wanna know what kind of condition the engine is in before you invest in a new set of tires.

How do you see it as more balanced? Maybe the East, but the West is kind of the same pecking order imo...with maybe Calgary surpassing the Riders and Edmonton and BC maybe coming closer but on the outside looking in.
