  1. I am hoping Schoen will be 100 but we gotta hedge our bets I doubt that's the problem. We got the tools to make any half decent OC look good. Might be cash strapped for the position.
  2. I don't know what to make of it and just firing **** against the wall
  3. It is very odd. About the only explanation I can think of is we have our guy and for some reason can't announce it yet, or we are waiting for someone and can't make it official yet. The longer this goes the more I'm starting to think it's Lapo and we are letting him fulfill some contract obligations first?
  4. Gotta be honest, that whole team was a tire fire. Tough to know whose play suffered from others and who just sucked
  5. Yea we need Lawler but it has to be with a shave
  6. Love Lawler but think we may lose him and I understand completely if Walter's won't show him the money again. We haven't got value for his pay the last 2 years. He likely has a very similar contract to Schoen in front of him. He can choose to be here and take an incentive laden contract that will require he bets on himself or take the money and run I guess. You can't regret what was fair market rate after the fact. But I agree that there appears to have been a reset. Too bad that didn't happen a year or two earlier
  7. Vaughters is very similar DE to Jeffcoat in style of play. Not sure what he's got in the tank, but I like the move. Last year the Stamps DL was on the field a lot and got worn out imo
  8. Fine by me. If all the big name FAs go East it's the next best thing to them signing here.
  9. I don't think that any player needs to convince their GM to throw the kitchen sink at Schoen. Teams will go after him hard if he makes it to FA. Who have we struggled to retain outside of leaving to the NFL?
  10. No one is saying that Schoen isn't a deep threat. Just that Lawler is better at it.
  11. Yea, Schoen is more productive and reliable than Kenny. Kenny will make the highlight reel snag at a key moment of the game. That's the choice the Bombers will be making if they can't get them both.
  12. How many games has Lawler played the last 2 years. If your argument is that Schoen isn't worth it because of reliability then the argument has to be the same for Lawler. Now, I agree that if we can only have one then Lawler should be our pick but I disagree with your premise as to why. Lawler is just a better big play receiver, while Schoen is the more consistently productive one. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, but my personal bias is towards the big play guy. Doesn't make it the right pick but I can choose my favorite, just as you have.
  13. That was based on Stronson at Riderfans rumor and as everyone knows he is full of crap.
  14. Appears that way and I get it from an overall perspective. However, I don't think this is an either/or situation SMS wise. Woli was banged up most of last year, never did play at 100% after his injury and it seemed to linger. Woli was adjudicated on the merits of his contract, health, and replaceability. We moved on. It happens. He was a fan fave because of the quality of guy he is, but as a football player he was average at best and we have a guy that looks like he deserves a lot more reps in our offence at his position playing on a rookie deal. Was Drew's contract something that was over the top? Not even remotely. Therefore, I am thinking the Bombers feel as though we have or will have better options for the money.
  15. My bad....I missed that. Great news.
  16. Love to get Bede if we can't get Sergio back. Monster leg.
  17. Walters does not do anything Walters does not want to do. Osh has an opinion and Walters will consider it, and then make the moves that best fit the club in his opinion. Suggesting that Walters is Osh's puppet is ridiculous. Woli may very well offer more bang for the buck than JT if you look at it myopically, but that's not how Walters carves the pie and he is the man solely responsible for doing so. Also, there are a **** load of assumptions being made about Woli being more valuable than Jake, without any of us having a kernel of an idea as to what Walters plan is at NAT receiver or what Jake is actually being paid or what his planned role might be. Just a couple weeks ago we were all told that Osh was going to force Walters to keep an unproductive Bighill. and when anyone said maybe we should wait and see they were shouted down.. I will again ask that we wait and see how this all shakes out before making way too premature assumptions about how we should have kept this guy or that guy. Could very well be that Walters has an iron in the fire on a NAT receiver. The league is looking to correct the market on receivers. It happens every few years like that and GMs only throw obscene money when there are multiple parties willing to do so. Not seeing any of those kind of GMs at the moment.
  18. That trim will come naturally with the reset at the receiver position that appears to be underway.
  19. The ONLY way I could see the NFL agreeing to any such financial help for us is unfettered access to any player in our league at any time.
  20. Woli was making 110k. League min is only 20k less than that. Cutting Woli clears 20k. Not exactly big savings there. Also, Walters has stated ad infiniti how he goes about doing his SMS by position group and not by overall. He allocates X dollars per position group and goes from there. Signing Jake had absolutely squat to do with not signing Woli. Not how Walters does his SMS, and that is based on Walters own explanations on how he manages the SMS. Exactly right.....,and the thing is that people are not really taking into account is that Woli was not very highly paid for a NAT starter. The savings on him are negligible. They will help a little bit but we aren't signing anyone of significance with those extra 20k.
  21. Bighill yea....Woli was making 20k over league minimum so no real big savings there. His salary was not preventing us from going after anyone. They simply wanted to go another direction at receiver. Far more likely than salary dump is that the Bombers are looking at going with a crap load more 1 NAT receiver sets this year. If your hometown team throws big bucks at you then yea some players will leave to go home. However, the key part of that IF is the big bucks. We have the same SMS as they do.
  22. No. Still makes no sense because it was never a choice between them. Even if we don't re-sign Thomas it has zero bearing on keeping/releasing Woli. Releasing Woli was not a SMS move.
  23. I will wait and see on why Woli was released. However, the Jake or Woli argument makes no sense.
