2022/2023 Off-Season (League/Non-Bombers-specific News)

lol. Take what I say over on the political forum with a grain of salt. I like playing devil's advocate on a thread that would otherwise be pretty one-sided. -
No doubt. I am yet to see an opposition party table policies, or costed plans, in many many years. I find it ironic that people are criticizing the federal CPC for not doing it, but are fully on board with our provincial NDP who are even more vague on what policies and plans they would bring to the table.

Did I hurt your feelings Karen?

It has been a left wing strategy to ignore the stink on their side of the spectrum for as long as I have lived. So, yes it is true. It's garbage all around. I find it almost farcical how you guys can demonize the right while propping up pseudo-criminals like Biden and Trudeau. It is really gross.
-
It's a problem in every province and at the federal level as well. There just aren't really any good choices anymore. They all stink. In Alberta's case, it's not surprising, it is exceptionally hard to undo memories of the boom and the growth and prosperity therein and most of that is still attributed to Smith's party even if she is batshit nuts herself. Albertans want a return to 20 years ago when Klein was in power, oil was running out of every orifice, and everyone was flush with cash because of that. I don't think they see Notley as being particularly capable of providing that.

As someone who likes to poke the bear over at the political forum for kicks, I can get part of what you are saying. However, just like the political forum arguments, assuming what you believe to be fact is bad faith arguing in itself. Opinions, and belief in them, does not make them factual. Fact of the matter, is that most of us don't know all the facts on most matters....but what fun would a forum be if most people were self aware enough to realize that. -
Yep...but the voters apparently don't agree.
-
Yuk it up...but I will get the last laugh on this in a few months. It's a Manitoba politics thread, don't want politics on a sports forum talk to Rich to get rid of the sub-forum.
-
Sure looks like she will win. If Notley came out against Trudeau she would likely have a big lead. Might happen yet.
-
That is just a misdemeanor, this is going to have Wab scrambling to save himself and ergo his party. It will be a dagger through the heart of his already questionable reputation. I am not sure if this will lead to jail time or not, I don't have the details, but it has been described to me as something no politician can ever come back from.
-
Not even remotely. This isn't some twitter bash garbage. It's big, and it has documentation and evidence to support it.
-
Whether or not this person thinks they are acting in the public interest is a matter of opinion I would think. I think if you were to ask this person he would think exposing Wab at a time it could cost him power is definitely in the public interest It's not my story to tell, and I don't have all the details. I just know from a person very closely associated that it is big and it is going to sewer Wab directly and Nahanni indirectly. Don't know much more than that. However, my source is very good and is both extremely well connected and astute politically.
-
13 billion in corporate welfare to Volkswagen by Trudeau...but hey...it's a battery plant so I guess in his mind that offsets it. Ugh....I hate corporate welfare.
-
Mock if you want. I'll get my todaso later.
-
It's not a political stunt, but it is going to be brought forward at a time to maximize damage to Wab. It will sewer Wab, Nahanni, and the person bringing forth the information as well. It's akin to a suicide bombing (politically) and I really don't understand why this person is so determined to do it but they are.
-
There is a general feeling of dislike for Wab amongst both First Nation people, and particularly by most of the leadership. I am actively working against Wab? Nope...not actively doing anything...just in the know about it and I can tell you it's BIG, there is proof, and it will involve more than one person laying the accusation. It will be throwing a stick of dynamite into the campaign in October.
-
No I don't. I just know a crap load of them that all share my opinion from all parts of this province. I know many chiefs from around the province and Wab will not be getting their endorsement. I work a ton in native circles as a volunteer, and politically. Politically, I have ran campaigns for 2 AMC chiefs, and 1 MKO chief. I know all the players in the room and I have had discussions on many topics with all of them. I have a ton of insight into this. Do I speak for every native, of course not, NO ONE speaks for everyone, but I am confident that I speak for enough of them. They don't know. This is going to be a retaliation move for some perceived greasy back room politics at the AMC orchestrated by Wab and Nahanni. It has nothing to do with the PCs at all.
-
I agree on the latter and I will be voting NDP this election. I just wish I could vote NDP in and Wab out....although I have a feeling he may have to resign in the near future. There is a smoking gun out there and he betrayed the man holding it.
-
The damage to Wab's reputation has not even begun yet and it's not going to come from the PCs although I suspect they will absolutely jump on it afterwards. There is a certain AFN ex-Chief that is going to drop a couple of big bombs during the election campaign on Wab and Nahanni. Its going to be political dynamite. You heard it here first.
-
Did he? We don't know that definitively unless someone here has XRay vision. We do know that Wab refused to be gracious, and instead was confrontational, and then refused to disengage by physically not letting Khan go. The push we don't know. However, if you are looking to absolve Wab, the evidence is very clear that he assaulted Khan. Whether it is a push, or pull it really doesn't matter. Reprehensible behavior. Khan was visibly upset and disturbed by this, and I don't blame him.
-
Yes, and as a native person, I can tell you he is especially unpopular amongst his own people. He is not a guy that garners much respect in native circles. I have no doubt anytime that someone criticizes Wab that it will be labelled racism though, and in many cases it might be, but he is a stinker that has hid behind that for a long time and I hope he is raked over the coals for his actions. However, I'm not sure this will translate into a big vote loss for the NDP. The PCs are equally unpopular for different reasons, However, with a different leader the NDP would be so far out front right now they wouldn't even need to campaign come the fall. Man....I still wish Teresa Oswald would have won the leadership. Manitoba might look a lot different right now.
-
Yes. It was bizarre that Kinew even chose to engage and refused to end the engagement at that point and time during a ceremony. The video doesn't show a shove, although the angle is very poor, but it does very clearly show Wab refusing to let go of Khan and pulling him back into a conversation he was trying to leave. I would have been upset if I were Khan too.
-
The accusations are not BS. Not at all. I know the woman, I know her family, and I know many who at one time called them (Wab and the victim) both friends. Not a single one has any doubt as to what happened. I saw Wab very clearly refuse to let Obby go when he tried to walk away. It wasn't a push but still unacceptable. Not really a lie, but an exaggeration imo.
-
Wab needs to wear his history. He has remained pretty unscathed by it so far. Despicable actions and I don't care how long ago they were or how he has "reformed" his temper. He has never shown an ounce of contrition for what should be a crime that garners automatic jail time. I have no respect whatsoever for that man. Wab very clearly pulled Khan back into a conversation he was trying to disengage from. I didn't see any shove in the video, but not allowing another person to disengage by use of force is called assault.

Don't Look Back - 2022/2023 Bombers Off Season
GCn20 replied to Wideleft's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hard money can also include signing bonuses. Non-hard money is defined as performance and games played bonuses. You get players cheaper with big up front bonuses and stable salary that is non-performance based. Better players for cheaper. However, it does not open up as much cap savings when injuries hit or players have a down year is the trade off Walters makes to get guys signed below market rate. The fact he is able to retain year end money, despite being at a disadvantage due to the type of contracts he offers is a testament to recruitment. You keep thinking that hard money is definitive advantage to saving SMS room at the end of the year. That is only true if it comes without signing bonus and players don't play up to their contract. As I clarified earlier, signing bonus is included in hard money and once paid it does not give any cap savings at all.
