  1. You can challenge roughing the passer, both for or against, in the CFL.
  2. If you couldn't hit a QB in the shoulders, there would almost be nowhere left to hit.
  3. There is absolutely no rule in the CFL rule book, past or present, that penalizes a player for hitting a QB in the shoulders. I challenge you to find even one instance of a CFL ref calling that except in error. There is absolutely no way on god's green earth the refs got that one right. You are out to lunch on your take even by your normal bad take standards. TB is absolutely 100% wrong on that. It was just a bad call, probably looked different from the refs angle. The bigger crime was that command centre, or an O'Shea challenge, didn't overturn it. However, I do believe it was being ruled an incomplete pass so that may have been Osh's reasoning.
  4. I doubt it, but McCrae has definitely earned some time in the offence I would think.
  5. I wonder how sustainable that kind of YAC output is. Maier made every throw, and is fabulous at the dink and dunk, but I just don't see half your passing yards as YAC being something an offence can sustain.
  6. I'd like to see reserve judgement for a few more games on Maier. All I saw last night was dink and dunk by him for the most part. Eventually the DCs around the league will scheme that away and we will see what he's got. He looks like he should be the real deal though, but I have not seen every throw from him yet.
  7. When a QB places a ball right in the receivers bread basket without him even adjusting to the ball, in full stride, it is not luck at all. At least not luck on the QB. Luck might be assigned to the receiver that his natural instinct was to feel the ball hit him in the bread basket and to wrap his arm around it as he was being interfered with. The throw though, no luck at all, pure skill.
  8. I stand corrected. Sorry about that. Only exception being that Paredes rookie year his longest FG was 50. It was year 3 he hit a 52 yarder. Splitting hairs though really. I certainly am not disagreeing that we could probably do better in the short term than Liegghio.
  9. I thought my post was pretty clear that I was not encouraging brawling in the stands. I am most certainly not blaming the CFL for levying a fine for a rule both they, and the CFLPA, have agreed upon. My objection is that I believe that the rule is lame, or at the very least the parameters are layed out poorly. I see no imminent danger to players interacting with their own fans. 10. I don't disagree with anything you are saying but would like to point out that up until this year Paredes's longest FG was 48 yards. One of my concerns about Liegghio entering the year was his leg strength. I have been pleasantly surprised by that this year. His accuracy is much improved, and he just needs to nail down the mental aspect of the game. Something a lot of young kickers struggle initially with.
  11. And a revolving receiver corps causing the QB to have to go to extra reads at times because of unfamiliarity. We will be firing on all cylinders down the home stretch.
  12. I totally agree. As long as it isn't a brawl in the stands (I'm talking to you Toronto) I think it is something that should be encouraged. I get that after the **** show last year where the Argos lost their **** that the league is gun shy about that now, but if Duke found a few Rider fans and a plate of nachos that is not fine worthy imo.
  13. The return of the 4 yard slant, and swing pass to the sideline behind the LOS are going to be making a big comeback if Maas implements things that Cody is comfortable with. Doesn't get much simpler than that. I don't know if they have the speed and elusiveness at receiver to pull that off anymore though.
  14. This all started in 2013. The RIders sold their soul for a Grey Cup by bringing in locker room cancers, since then they have remained consistent at overlooking deep character flaws in the players they sign. I get that recruitment is ultra tough for them...convincing any IMP player to go their backwater town is a challenge...but they need to re-establish culture and it is not something they seem to be particularly interested in doing. Could be. Just saying, the rule is dumb. I thought that was probably the highlight of the month. Good stuff. Every FA they re-sign is to top dollar. They will re-sign guys...but they will have to pay above market rate.
  15. Some dude from Ottawa, Gott I think, grabbed a beer from the crowd and chugged it, then smashed the can on his forehead iirc....no fine for that.
  16. Losing Couture was big, and Neufeld has been playing on a broken wing all season. Even Stan and Yosh have been nicked up. Our OL is still dominant and the mistakes we are seeing are a result of some lost cohesiveness because of injury and having a new LG and C. Our problem is not lack of talent, or depth, like Regina for instance. We just need our big guys to find their groove in the 2nd half. Totally agree. Also, the hot months are when almost every team gets some suspect OL play. When the temp hits +30 it hits the 300 lbers a lot harder than everybody else.
  17. Any injury is potentially career threatening at his age, particularly since he is a RB. After last year's injuries and him coming into camp out of shape it was really a no brainer to move on. As much as our sentimentality wants to block that reality, it was pretty apparent.
  18. ....and Father TIme remains undefeated. Andrew took him to the 10th round though.
  19. The punt would have had to be a boomer. 55 yards in the air to be sure it wasn't fielded. Not exactly a gimme, in fact pretty unlikely. Not sure why people are considering this a better option than a 32 yard FG.
  20. Not going to pull a Riderfans and blame the officiating in any way for the loss, because as many calls as I think were bad last night I probably missed as many that went our way too. However, am I the only person thinking that the PI on Winston Rose was just awful? I honestly did not see anything more than a very mild hand fight which is completely legal. Also, many spots on forward progress were extremely generous....like a yard or more. Just awful. There was one play where we stopped them about 2 to 21/2 yards short on 2nd down and it's suddenly 3rd and inches...like wtf? I am not sure who the reffing crew was last night but they were brutal. As I said earlier, probably went both ways, but man that was some bush officiating last night. I don't often complain about officiating but that was the worst I've seen in a while. Maybe I was biased in my initial assessment so I am going to rewatch this dog of a game just to see, but that's the first time in a long time I've been upset at the officiating like I was last night.....and I was upset at them prior to us losing btw.
  21. Can't wait until the Esks upset the Riders on Sunday so that the sliver of hope they got last night that we are beatable, becomes fully snuffed by the fact it doesn't matter at all because they suck.
