  1. It is pretty insane such a clueless view of a player is being put forth here.. A shame really... The kids gonna have a great career.. A few people who really need to use Google and educate themselves before making silly remarks about a player they don't know anything about.
  2. Why would $7 million cap hit mean a thing to David Thomson? Especially when the actual cash is significant less? Myers traded next season? Lol. Not a chance.
  3. Reminds me of all the cyber squatting cases when the Internet really exploded and a few "smart" people registered domain names they knew would be coveted.
  4. if lawless reports the Jets have an interest in Calvert, you can pretty much take it to the bank.
  5. I would say the emergence of Trouba made Bogosian expendable for what they got back in Myers. Not only his terrific contract, but his speed and offensive upside. Makes the Jets that much more deadly from the D.
  6. Here is an interesting counterpoint concerning Cindy Crawford (and also a really crappy thing for that "journalist" to do in releasing a picture of Cindy without her permission): http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/16/opinion/drexler-cindy-crawford/index.html
  7. Im surprised he let it happen in the first place then. I would have pro-actively been in contact with guys like Mike to make sure the website was always the best it could be for the informed fan.
  8. I hate to say that my first thought when watching the debate was that the women arguing against it only wished anyone would want to see her in that bikini. I was recently in Jamaica and a couple of the women with our group got up from lounging on the beach to go to the bar. One of them was wearing a small bikini and had a great body and the other was wearing a more conservative bikini. The small bikini one said "I should grab a cover" and the other said "are you kidding, if I had your body I'd wear a bikini everywhere". She gets it. And its a good argument. Im a guy and I feel nothing in the way of pressure to look like the guys I see in movies like 50 Shades or magazine covers. Sure, I *want* to be jacked and ripped but I dont feel pressure from society or feel that only guys that look like that are accepted. I realise its more of an issue for women. But I also think there is a point where we can go too far. There is plenty of "skinny shaming" that goes on. Meghan Trainor caused controversey because in her song "All About The Base" she has a line that says "Tell all them skinny b!tches that". Im not sure what message the cover sends other then its okay to work really hard to be in really good shape and show off your fitness. I also agree about the whole body shaming thing. Like are girls going to see that and suddenly become aware that they have genitals? I had a recent discussion with two friends talking about their Godson who has some issues and one thing that neither of them liked was that the kid was 6 years old and his parents will be naked around him.
  9. Stop putting so much stock in crap like that. Every prospect gets compared to great players in terms of style, they don't compare their career trajectories, just style. For example, Oilers coach Todd Nelson recently made some comments comparing Oscar Klefbom to NIk Lidstrom. Now he never said they were the same player or that Klefbom was anywhere close to as good, just that they try and play the game in a similar fashion. That's all it means. Seems every year there's a centre out there in the draft compared to Yzerman or Sakic and a defenceman compared to Pronger. Okay sorry to upset you. *rolls eyes*
  10. Armia played the last couple of games for St Johns so I assume he's healthy and ready to go. Reading between the lines from Chevy's comments after the trade it sounds like Armia was really looking forward to getting an opportunity in the NHL that wasnt there with Buffalo. Maurice is a good coach and will get him playing the right way. One thing Myers and Stafford both said was how impressed they were with the complete buy in from every player in playing the system. It would be tremendous if Armia could be an every day player for the Jets in the 2nd/3rd line. Hopefully Stafford isnt out at all and hopefully Perrault isnt out long. if the Jets only recalled Armia that would be good news for one of those guys at least. I remember when Odell was playing well for the Jets, someone asked H&L about him being a regular fixture on the team and Lawless said no, he wasnt good enough to be an every day NHL'er and I remember thinking thats odd because he's doing so well. But he was right.
  11. Does Colin make money from that site? if not, he should just swallow his pride and come here.
  12. A lot of serious discussion here so maybe something a bit lighter: http://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2015/02/13/cnn-tonight-mel-robbins-dawn-hawkins-sports-illustrated-swimsuit.cnn/video/playlists/most-popular-domestic/?iid=ob_article_footer_expansion&iref=obnetwork Interesting debate between two women about the SI Swimsuit cover. If someone can imbed the pic, that would be cool but essentially her bikini bottom is pulled down to a few milimeters above her genitals. Im a big women's rights guy but I was immediately rolling my eyes at the woman who was against the cover...Are we sending a terrible message to young girls? Thoughts?
  13. I agree with the sense that a person needs to see all sides to make an informed decision. Im a big, big Stephen Harper fan and I agree with Wayne Gretzky who called him one of our finest PM's. But that doesnt mean I agree with everything he does or every single one of his positions. But one thing I do loath is the mindless anti-Harper stuff. You see it a lot. When it comes from Aboriginal groups, it's really sad because it's so uninformed and mis-guided. I followed Unifor on twitter only because they are "my" workplace union and I like to hear "the other side" but I had to unfollow because it was just too much over the top anti-Harper nonsense. Like literally everything Harper does is bad and everything bad that happens is Harper's fault. Im still waiting for his secret agenda to unfold, the one where he intends to take away women's rights, reinstate the death penalty, put everyone in jail, have the military policing the streets etc. However it does remind me of a great video I saw when he won his majority which compared his speech to that of Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith where one can assume Harper's speech writer was a Star Wars fan as he lifted it word for word from the film. Funny stuff.
  14. Everyone keeps saying this but the reality is that he could play for the Sabres, it just made no sense for them to do so. Yeah thats a good answer and one I'd figured was true. I also dont know if you can subscribe the notion that a guy is inconsistent when he played for an awful franchise. Its the same thing with Myers and Stafford who looked a lot better in three games with the Jets then they did all season with Buffalo. Even Brendan Lemieux supposedly told Buffalo he had no intention if signing there. Makes you wonder. I sort of have a feeling the Jets might regress next season as they transition to a line up with more of their prospects.
  15. and, Canada thanks you Jean Chretien for declining to involve us in that. Chretien didnt decline for any insightful reason other than politics. The Liberals think the problem in the middle east is those pesky Jews and the terrorists wouldnt be terrorists if only we'd leave them alone. The are many differences between middle east strife and WWII, namely the religious aspect. But a lot of people wanted to "not get involved" back then too. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty because it's the right thing to do. The mistake the US made in iraq was thinking the people there would embrace their own democracy. They were wrong. But a lot of people forget the Iraqi people's reaction when the US marched into Baghdad, which was throngs of people waving the US flag and cheering the allies. It was the vaccum that was left after Saddam was defeated that led to issues. The Iraqi people shot themselves in the foot.
  16. The book on Armia is he is big, fast and has elite scoring skills but is inconsistent. Perhaps playing in the Jets system will change that. i saw some reviews that compared him to a less skilled Teemu Selanne and they had the same agent. It would be tremendous if he could fill in at 2RW but we will see. The question would be, if he can play for the Jets why couldnt he play for the Sabers...
  17. It's entirely possible that everyone else isn't stupid and blinded by the newness of the trade. Is armia hurt?
  18. Chevy will be working the phones of Perrault and/or Stafford are out for any length of time. And Perrault was in a walking boot Armia gets a call up I guess. But jets are in tough with only six guys they can reasonably play for any length of time
  19. If we lose it will be pavs fault for not being good enough to be the everyday starter and thus having played this game and won it.
  20. Yes interesting about hutch. Remind me of a few weeks ago where he got three starts. Seems like Maurice wants hutch to claim the starting gig.
  21. For a kid playing on the Rock who would never have got a look if not for all the injuries and now he's firmly entrenched in the starting line up I'll take 5-6.
  22. Press trying to win cup now. And they have a very good chance.
  23. This should probably get its own thread because it's going to be a discussion about concussions and the NHL's seeming lack of concern.
  24. Should be able to get Chiarot for a good deal. I'd also try to get trouba into an 8 year deal but he might want a shorter one to maximize his return down the road. We could also sign him to a deal that takes him just before UFA with the intent to then sign him to an 8 year deal. End result is trouba here longer.
