  1. Wow. Unbelievable.

If Crowton didn't start Goltz, who did??? Burke says Hall starting is the offence decision and yet Crowten says Goltz was rushed...isn't hall in the same boat?!

Wtf is going on. Miller needs to bring down the cone of silence of these guys.

Goltz speaks the truth but should keep his yap shut.

I think this confusion must have a lot to do with marcel. Maybe hall starting was his call...

  2. I have a crazy theory. Please bear with me!

Can we agree that Buck is Burke's boy, Hall is Crowton's boy and by process of elimination, Goltz is Mack's boy.

Crowton realized he was taking the brunt of criticism but Burke wouldn't move away from Buck. Crowton goes over Burke's head to Mack. Mack tells Burke to make the QB change.

The compromise is buck will "assist" Crowton, in essence becoming Burke's eyes and ears on offence possibly because Burke realized he was being shut out of the O and wanted a "spy"

Crowton might have asked for Hall but Mack went with Goltz because he's his boy and more importantly, Crowton wanted to sit Buck

Last game we saw Hall warming up but no change was made even though we all thought Goltz should have been pulled. Possible reason: Crowton tells Hall to warm up, Burke refuses, wanting to put Buck in but realizing after the "grand proclamation" he couldn't (and not wanting to disobey his boss).

Mack gets fired and suddenly Hall is starting. We know Wade say down with Burke. We can assume the offense was a major topic of conversation. Burke stayed two weeks ago he wanted an offensive consultant brought in. Only when Miller took over was that made a reality. Why? If Crowton was going over Burke's head to Mack and Mack was allowing it, we can assume Mack had more confidence in Crowton than Burke did.

Remember, immediately after Miller was introduced, rumours began circulating that Buck would be moved up the depth chart. That could be indicative of miller and Burke sharing the same opinion that barring any other option, Buck gives them the best chance to win.

So Miller and Burke agree the Offence is the glaring issue. They sit Crowton down and tell him that Mack is gone so things are going to change and Goltz isn't the answer.

Crowton realizes he's dead man walking (especially after the Marcel announcement) and executes a last ditch plan, imploring management to let Hall run his offence. Hall's his boy and worked with him before.

The odd part is the report that Goltz was told 'sorry kid but we want to win now' and don't have time to develop him which is inexplicable if they are going to Hall with zero CFL experience. It makes sense if Crowton has argued that hall doesn't need development time because his offence is suited to hall's skillset.

Burke and Miller agree because they know one of two things will happen: Hall will click with Crowtons offence like no one else did and win. Or he will flop and it will mean bye bye Crowton and hello Buck.

Just my theory based on available information and logic.

  3. I don't believe Miller considers this season a write off. I believe him (or at least will take him at face value for now) when he said there was time and opportunity to make the playoffs.

    This just smells desperate.

With everything falling to pieces I'd feel better with the most CFL experienced QB and the only one who's ever won starting these games.

  4. The point I've made (and ill type slowly for some of you) is that Buck has been a talented QB and won games. Has he played poorly this season? Absolutely. So has Goltz.

My point is this is the same knee jerk expert fan BS opinion we all heard about Kevin Glenn. All I'm saying is perhaps a terrible OC, terrible O line and a bunch of injuries made buck look worse than he really is.

And my final point is, if Buck can't play anymore, so be it. But if he gives us out best chance to win then he should be given the chance. And if he wins what are you all going to say then?

I had no issue with Goltz playing but he should have been pulled in the 3rd and replaced by buck. Period.

    It's a reasonable argument.

  5. Buck has poor numbers over longer games. Wait til Goltz plays four games and see how bad he looks.

Did buck suddenly forget how to play QB or is the system and lack of o line partially to blame?

Look at how we ran Glenn out of town claiming he couldn't play anymore. Look at how bad calvillo looks in a new bad system.

Quite frankly I don't care who the QB is as long as he wins. If that's Goltz great. If its buck great

  6. It doesn't really matter if the CEO is hands on or not if the CEO has football knowledge. Right now there is no GM and Miller has stated he has full power of both the business and football side. He's he de facto GM so I'm fine with him making football ops decisions.

Everyone can see Crowton has to go. And if there is any truth that he was going over Burke's head to Mack then he should be dismissed immediately. There has to be some answer at OC whether that's Howell or someone else.

  7. If the leak is indeed a Board member then it's easy to vet him out. Tell Lawless to give up the guy or he's not allowed access to any of the Bombers facilities, players & coaches for the rest of the time he works in the media. Let his boss at the Free Press know the same thing. If they both refuse then he can talk Jets hockey or tiddley winks for all I care. The mole has to be found as he is a cancer. This goes way beyond protecting a source.

That is utterly ridiculous.  The Bombers would be even more the laughing stock if they pulled some crap move like that.  And I guarantee you, the "competition" in media wouldn't stand for it either.  You dont blackball a guy for doing his job.  If Bob Irving had been given the leak it would have been the lead story on CJOB, dont you think for a hot second it wouldn't have been.

I believe Lawless when he thinks it's a joke that the board leaked the story but that doesnt change the fact it is his JOB to report it.  He even joked on H&L yesterday that after he reported the leak "no one will take my call".  He did what he is paid to do.

The leak isn't important in the big picture.  This is a vollenteer board and someone who knows Lawless let him in on a secret.  And surely the BOD member had a motive (firing Mack, firing Buchko, who knows).

Im way more interested in knowing what Buchko did to get canned.  Because recommending to the BOD that Mack be fired early this week (or last week as some reports have it) and then going on vacation seems odd.  If it was a mutual decision, was there internal pressure on Buchko to step down?  Was there a line drawn in the sand and Buchko was on the wrong side?  Did he just decide running a pro sports franchise was something he wasn't up for?

  8. My thoughts:

    - Shocked at Buchko being canned (though I rightly guessed there were some BOD/Buchko issues in a post I made yesterday).  There must have been some behind the scenes issues for the BOD to fall out of love with that guy.  But let's be honest, he came in with a lot of fanfare and many of us rightly pointed out that a glorifed salesman had no business being CEO of a pro Football team.  I'd assume some more info will come out about this.

    - The Leak.  Lay off Lawless.  It's his JOB to report this.  And he claims he was contacted with the news.  What's he supposed to do, sit on it and let CJOB or someone else break the news?  I generally believe Buchko was NOT the leak or else he'd likely leak it to CJOB rather than TSN but his firing leads more credence to that possibility if the BOD let him know they werent happy with him.  Buchko reccomends firing Mack, BOD says "well, we'll consider it but Garth, we need to review everything here."  He says "fack it", goes on vacation and thats it.

    - Wade Miller.  He's a football guy.  He runs a successful business.  I'm down.

  9. The leak is either:

    - someone wants Mack gone and leaking it makes it pretty hard to keep him (not to mention why does he CEO need board approval?)

    - someone wants to keep Mack and is angry that the board is considering firing him.

    - Buchko leaked the news knowing no one would suspect him since he's on vacation. But I have to assume if he was going to leak it would be to CjoB not TSN

Wouldn't surprise me if the leaker is pissed that were going to dwiddle our thumbs for the entire bye week while the CEO is on vacation and then fire the GM. If Buchko wants Mack gone he should be fired this last Tuesday morning. Period.

I like Mack. And it's not just QB. It's the entire offense. It's lack of coaching depth. Walters might show more than people think.
