  1. My favourite post-game report. I'm very quiet on these boards (and was on the other boards), but I haven't missed an Odds and Sods in years. Thanks DoD!
  2. That Calgary back. Something Cornish...
  3. Ah thanks guys, I made the mistake of trusting a friend who told me it wasn't on TSN rather than checking myself.
  4. Anyone know if the game is being aired on TV?
  5. You're right. There is no difference between judging people on their character, personality, judgement and poor management/writing and judging people based solely on elements of their humanity that they don't control like gender, race and sexuality. You can have sex changes, change your outward appearance and you can choose your sexual preferences at any time. Your points are invalid.Lots of people took personal shots at Kelly. How many fat jokes were cracked about Lawless. What Roberts and his personal life decisions we mocked in the past. Maybe he couldn't help chasing big girls and smoking all the time. in your world these people didn't choose to be the way they are. Oh my...
  6. Serious question: Is he not allowed to feel that way? Or is it just that it's not PC so they shouldn't say things that will bring heat on themselves and the CFL by the over-reacters? I suppose it depends entirely on what he said. If he has no problem at all with someone being gay, but isn't comfortable being naked around them, I suppose that's his body and his choice. The way I see it though, why is he then comfortable being naked around people (he assumes) are straight? Does he think that someone being gay automatically makes them some sort of voyeur or pervert? It raises deeper issues on his feelings towards gay people in general, and really isn't something that should be said in a public forum. That said, if his comment was solely that he would wear a robe in that situation, and nothing more (I didn't see the original tweet), then it's nowhere near as bad as what Bruce said. Still ignorant, but not the same as telling someone to bow down to god and questioning what is wrong with them for not liking "titties" and "coochie."
  7. being gay isnt a life choice. And if that gibberish translates to what it seems like it does, I would release him. Maybe thats crazy but its a dispicable hateful attack. CFL better lay down a huge fine on this idiot. Exactly. The probability that there are multiple gay people in the Alouettes organization, from players, to coaches, to administration, is pretty likely, and Bruce's comments have just ostracized them. To not release him suggests that the organization supports this type of discrimination. It's not a matter of freedom of speech, it's human rights. I'd have to imagine that if he had used a racial slur there wouldn't even be any hesitation to dump him, and I see this as no different.
  8. I think I got the "YOW!" part covered. Still trying to sort out the rest.
  9. This is unbelievable. Personally, I don't think a fine is enough of a punishment, but that's just me... http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=443568 ALS' BRUCE DIRECTS OFFENSIVE MESSAGE TO GAY PROSPECT SAM While most professional football players showed support on social media for NFL prospect Michael Sam after announcinng he was gay, Arland Bruce was not among them. Montreal Alouettes receiver wrote an offensive message towards Sam over Instagram on Tuesday night, suggesting that the Missouri defensive end Sam should "submit to God." "YOW!," he wrote. "Mr/MSam you scared to rub on ------- and --- and ------- you gaey. Man up and do some --- push UPS and get on your knees and submit to God fully. Come out of her" Americas Trap. Lil homie don't go thru with it it's a trap bruh." It isn't the first time Bruce has been in the centre of controversy. In 2009, he performed a touchdown celebration by removing his helmet, shoulder pads, and uniform top and laying down in the end zone as a tribute to Michael Jackson after scoring. The CFL has fined players for questionable and offensive messages posted on social media.
  10. when you said tomorrow, do you mean before the free agency ? or when the free agency kicks in? I have no idea. Just casual conversation with one of my friends, I didn't really get into details. have heard Kohlert and Swayze Waters, fwiw... Would be very happy to see Waters here. Feels like it's been forever since we've had security at placekicker, and with O'Shea's ties to Waters, this one makes some sense.
  11. No, it's essentially a new contract but it's deemed an extension because technically, his existing contract was overwritten seen as how it didn't expire until Monday. Makes sense, thanks. I'm curious to know what we're paying him, I imagine it is substantially less than both Collaros and Burris are getting. Also wondering how long before Sask announces an extension for Etienne. Would be funny if he hit free agency anyway.
  12. Since his contract was extended, does that mean that it remains the same as it was? As in, we'd be paying him what Sask was paying him to be their number 2?
  13. I'll be there (first time I get to see a game in Calgary). I'll find out where my seats are and post on here. Due to my own terrible schedule, I've missed four home games and the LDC (first time I've missed in 13 years) this season, so pretty pumped I get to see an away game in Cal.
  14. Is it bad that I'm actually happy about this? I really want to see some more of our young guys step in; it's incredible that in our first two games, our three leading receivers are all Canadian. Can't wait to see what Anderson and/or Pierce can do!
  15. Week one gotta go with a proven commodity. Hopefully by next week I'll be picking a Bomber. Andrew Harris
