  1. Well, if you want to guarantee a certain loss and last place for the second pick, then by all means Bolt us, but after seeing some sort of progression in our offence, it would be a disappointment to see the total offensive yards dip to less than Etienne's weight again. Now all we have to worry about is the play-to-win crowd vs. the play-for-pick crowd, but need I remind fans that we still have the master of play-not-lose Coach and that the desired results will be what they'll be.
  2. We're not talking anymore about Phil Sheegl, the object of this thread, nor even of a fictional board member named Milt Sheegl. Good grief, why should a football discussion about a member of a board of football directors turn into a discussion of personal failures/successes?
  3. And now they're expecting to walk Miles in those shoes.
  4. Bellefeuille should be commended for trying to improve his coach's resume by touring NFL camps. It's likely to be a boost in attaining a position somewhere in the coaching ranks. Should it be here? Highly unlikely. We could do worse I guess, but I'd rather have an opportunistic guy just waiting to unfurl his new brand of creative coaching. A kind of anti-Burke. I may be dreaming of hiring someone like that, but after the starchy, passive coaching we've seen lately, I"m allowed to want more than a kneel and a prayer.
  5. 2011 Marcel - HC Rick (I can call him Rick) was the running back coach. Khari - OC
  6. What did Sheets do / say? Missed this game. I did miss what Sheets said, but apparently he stated before the game that he was the best RB. Maybe somebody can confirm that. As to the game itself, Sheets was ticked off with getting the ball only 3 times in the 1st half and he blew up when Sask. had the ball around the 5 yard line and threw the ball once and got sacked once, instead of running it. He had a mini tirade with Durant and Cortez on the sidelines and anybody else who would listen. He was livid and it took a number of players to talk to him to settle him down. Why they didn't use him more in the 1st half is open to discussion but probably Sask. outhunk themselves in trying to deceive Calgary as to what they were doing.
  7. Well I would have considered your use of bold caps for a previous development of a trade for a franchise QB, and yet, that occurred. There is only one way for Wally to consider this position and that would be completely Wally's way. Despite the "Winnipeg Sun" reasoning of why he wouldn't come here, he would consider it if he wanted to. There is not much evidence to support his wanting to. The worry about the 'board' and the meddling etc. would not occur, IMO, if you had a strong man in position to make the calls he wants to. Guys like Buono or Barker or Hufnagel would want complete control and they would be granted that if not by their demeanour alone.
  8. ....What's going on?
  9. ....must get Worman....must get Worman
  10. But speaking of knee jerk reactions...isn't that exactly is what's happening here? A tweet from Arash Madani and suddenly it's the old boy's club and gong show and the Bomber's org. is in chaos. It's only a mention of a name...and that's all we know. The rest is conjecture.
  11. Climie couldn't have said it better himself.
  12. There still can be truth to what a reporter is writing as well as an personal agenda by same said reporter. The degree of smugness in releasing some "information" can definitely be traced to previous ill feelings. And I'm not saying that this is the case here.
  13. Oh so true, if you think those rinky-dink hits were hits, think back to Hall being demolished the other night.
  14. Buck played very well and had fun doing it and he should be given credit for a playing good game. But... He never got rattled and by that I mean, he didn't get hit. He was blitzed, and handled it, but he really never got hit. I'll wait to see what happens to his game after the deer in the headlight look comes back. I hope, for his sake, it doesn't come back, but it's too early to regale in his return as a QB. And BTW, Edmonton looked lousy out there and Reilly looked..tired or unenergenic and really missed Stamps for another receiver to Bowman. (who had a very good game) Edmonton's poorest performance in a while, IMO.
  15. Odd timing though. And for what purpose? Another consultant? This year? Next year? Under who's authority? And how much credence do we put in how Madani is reporting this story, that is, as a conflict between Miller and Walters? I have nothing against Worman, but why would he be considered at this point? Shouldn't a GM be hired first? Is that implying Walters is in and they're moving ahead? Too many questions, and is that Madani's real purpose? To sh.. disturb?
  16. OK, where's the poster who said Bowman can't go deep? ~~~ Happy feet DeMarco?
  17. Leftovers... Wallace Miles - 6 catches - 100 yds. 1 TD Fitzgerald 1st catch - 1 - 17 Jarvis Jones 1st catch - 1 - (-1) Mario Fannin 1 tackle ST on Owens Bombers - 3 games in a row over 300 yds offence. (after 7 in a row of not) Burke on the last Argo TD: That last TD pass, I told (Argos head coach) Scott Milanovich: 'We practiced that all week long because I knew you were going to go to it after watching last week's film.' But (Bombers nickelback) Desia (Dunn) was supposed to take it away and he was hurt. And the guy who replaced him didn't know that position. And in a short week, you don't get to practice everybody. It was just one of those things."
  18. I'd normally cheer this development but only when he shows up next year, for the crop of new coaches to rate his performance. I, somehow, don't trust this group of coaches in judging the best kicker for our team.
  19. OK, I give kudos to Bellefeuille for improving Denmark's route running and I'll give him some points for moving our offensive plays in a positive direction, but I can't believe he, or any one of the personnel involved with the Offence can look us in the eye and tell us short yardage is better with Boltus. Only one more game to suffer the fools.
  20. Glenn is actually one of the best QB's at sneaking, he just doesn't do it because no starters do. Not when he first started with us. Only after, did he get marginally better. And yes he's a 'starter' now, but I still wouldn't have him go first in my rotation of sneakers.
  21. We used to have the best red zone efficiency and now it's hit or miss. Our game plans could have had Hall get us to the red zone and then have Goltz take us in. This is the practice we used to employ, with great TD success, but Burke has abandoned common sense for a common grudge. And obviously, Boltus cannot run the short yardage. It happens. Some QBs just can't. Think K Glenn. But Burke's refusal to use Goltz is going to be part of his downfall. It just doesn't make sense.
  22. Yes, they win with him and without him, but you can't tell me Collaros would have put up a masterful performance like that and that, to me, was worth a victory for TO. We can't take those passes he dropped in there for granted, nor his calm in his reads. The rust is off and he is ready to play.
  23. Two year-ends in a row, Wallace Miles shows some good hands and makes plays for his QB. He's gotta stick around.
  24. Defensive breakdowns no doubt, but anybody who doesn't think R Ray is a master of throwing the ball is not seeing properly. The guy has an awesome touch and when he is on, he is deadly. Say what you want about rushing or blitzing but when he's in the zone, he is untouchable. And that last call for a TorontoTD...masterful call on a 2nd down. He had time to throw on a double move on B Stewart. And just try to defend that one alone. IMO, R Ray beats anyone tonight.
  25. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/10/22/season-of-new-quarterback-in-cfl Not a random Penton musing, a quote from a league source. OK then, a random league musing 'quote'.
