  1. Hold on there Baba-Louie. The search is still on…. The search for a new Bombers defensive co-ordinator is nearly two months old, and it looks like the list of potential replacements for Casey Creehan is growing. According to a source, Bombers head coach Mike O'Shea is now looking at non-veteran CFL coaches for possible new candidates. View the full article
  2. I still consider Reilly's decision to be a questionable one in that he was in complete control of his own situation, and he failed to take it to the next step by committing so early. Even though he knew where he wanted to go, he could have had a better 'feel' for his market worth by actually hitting the market. It's still a puzzling decision, especially when he was so close to FA.
  3. Is a Certificate of Appreciation along the same lines as a Certificate of Entitlement? And are they equally as important?
  4. It seems to me that Sherman believes he is wise beyond the football field and that he can wield words and defend himself as well as he can defend on the field. He can't. He may think he can knock down opposing words as easy as a thrown ball but by being so aggressive with his verbal spewings he certainly gets flagged for 'offensive' behaviour. My advice…keep quiet Rchard..don't be such a D*ick. (no, not a Rider fan)
  5. "After the East-West Shrine game wraps today, Walters and crew are moving on to Mobile, Ala., to scout the Senior Bowl, another main event on the scouting calendar." This Bowl is played this Sat. Jan. 25th. I imagine after this, the GM and HC will return to Winnipeg for their unveiling of the staff they have already assembled, so yes, I would agree with you, it's a done deal.
  6. I believe O'Shea is on record saying he would have the coaching staff assembled and announced by Jan31. But that's O'Shea, I think that's a trick….he'll punt.
  7. Here's a non-playing side to AC's story: "There were no cameras, no photographers, just Calvillo, alone, with an autographed football, for his friend." http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Letter+Anthony+Calvillo+precious+gift+teen+with+cancer/9416459/story.html
  8. The expansion draft "killed" the Bombers?? Will that mean we'll have to change the name of this site to Mourning Big Blue?
  9. So, according to a tweet from Josh Francis, he was signed before the New Year and of course, only announced now. See how that works? JOSH FRANCIS‏ @iamROADCLOSED Dec 23 Man... what an opportunity, glad to say Im finialy Professional Athlete! #ROADCLOSED BiG Dreams turn into BiG things! Will be in Canada #CFL * thanks to gobombersgo over @ EP
  10. I always enjoy players who give good performances (less so when they're against us) and AC has provided us with many such performances. It's one of the reasons I enjoy sports. The downside is watching their not-so-nice side where their human frailties show up. (hello R. Sherman) and AC when he points fingers. But the talent was there, and that bugger would beat us more times than not, Great career. Goodbye, good riddance and good luck .
  11. Yes, the pump up of the game often has a deflating effect by time the game is actually played and the only good story will end up being Peyton Manning and his resurrection. By that time, the story of Sherman will have tanked.
  12. Didier Orm?juste ‏@DidierRDS 1h The Gazette reports that Calvillo was offered the #Alouettes offensive coordinator?s position, but declined. #CFL
  13. As a top athlete, you can walk that edge and talk that talk, but when you cross the line, like Sherman did (choke display towards the bench) and that stupid yelling rant, then you will be disrespected and he deserves to be. I agree with iso…it was a classless display that demeaned some great efforts on defence. I hope Manning does put him down.
  14. Exactly. Lost in the kerfuffle of this entire mess is that, despite what Hartley says, the whole melee was started by his guy, Westgarth, who apparently thought scoring a goal could be achieved by going right after Kevin Bieksa and grabbing him to fight. I guess he thought the puck got trapped around Bieksa's neck and he could wrestle it free and score….despite having lost his stick somehow. No, Calgary got what they wanted and were clearly the instigators. Hartley knew exactly what he was doing. *BTW…good on Bieksa for moving the youngster Lain, out of the line of fire.
  15. If you want a good read on what we're doing at the Shrine game etc., before these guys get NFL tryouts, check out the this article in the Free Press. "In previous years, the Bombers sent one or two scouts to the event. Now Walters is wearing the GM hat, and this time assistant GMs Danny McManus and Ted Goveia are with him. Head coach Mike O'Shea is also holed up in that St. Pete Beach hotel, and so is national scout Drew Morris. When they aren't at practice, they are comparing notes." View the full article Then they have the tryouts in LA and Tampa. That's good business.
  16. I totally didn't expect to READ*BLACK.
  17. Musings from rod Pederson: - Rider GM Brendan Taman revealed linebacker Craig Butler is waiting for the free agency period to find out what his market value is. I wonder about the depth of interest from the Bombers after finding this out. However, knowing how Taman feels about him and how Butler loves his bond with the RR's, I doubt anything comes of this. - Tim Tibesar, who was a defensive coordinator with the Alouettes, is rumoured to be up against Gary Etcheverry for the Bombers' DC job. Rookie Bomber coach Mike O'Shea must be agonizing over this decision because it's taking so long. He has a very strong relationship with Etch which dates back to their days with the Argos. Seeing as Tibesar has become an entrant in the DC stakes only recently, I don't know if it is agonizing as much as waiting for Walter's return to announce this information next week.
  18. Your examples are not examples of "members usually can call a coaches success or failure before it happens." They're a review of what has happened. Trestman was brought in to Montreal and proved highly successful. So they bring in Hawkins. Who really knew that Hawkins Cheezies was better for the team than that Coach. Even now I'm not sure of Benevides, but that just might be me. Burke was thrown into the HC role mid-season, but I'd still venture to say nobody knew he was as ill prepared to run a CFL HCoaching position, especially after spending time learning in Montreal. So, I guess you're better at that than I am, but….if that is so, or iso in this case, then I'll await your verdict on O'Shea, what, sometime in June? of 2016?
  19. No, they can't. So, you must be talking in a very general sense.
  20. Totally unlike when a poster can tell when another poster is going to get roasted for something he has posted.
  21. And what's his response? Gee, I know what I'm looking for in my staff, but what do the Fan Boards say about who I should hire?
  22. A CFL source said Wednesday that new Bomber head coach Mike O'Shea interviewed former Montreal Alouettes' defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar this week. And veteran assistant Gary Etcheverry, who was head coach of the Toronto Argonauts for 12 games in 2002, is also rumoured to be on the Bomber radar screen. - Winnipeg Free Press
  23. "S*r*r" --- Insert Tate in there. ..(Starter)
  24. That's hilarious. It would sure put the hyperbole that is running rampant here in context.
  25. Gary Etcheverry….. Throw away the iPads……………..we're going retro.
