  1. Here's one: Former Ticats quarterback Henry Burris landed the big pay day he was looking for on Tuesday, signing a two-year deal with the Ottawa Redblacks worth in the neighbourhood of $450,000 a year, making him one of the highest paid players in the league. - The Scratching Post http://scratchingpost.thespec.com/

  3. OK I like the Willy segment but I thought that was mean to show Burris- throwing TD passes.
  4. Yeah, I liked what he said about the group of them, not 'grumbling', but simply moving forward and using these set backs as motivation.
  5. The videos you've asked for are currently on an airplane but we'll have to wait for that airplane guy to determine its exact destination.
  6. In conjuction with signing a few free agents and some improvement in the coaching staff and the younger players to win a few more games, sure. You do what you have to do to create a winning culture in the organization that will ultimately lead to better things, like the Grey Cup. I would also think the cap rises this year with the new TV contract. $400,000 might be roughly the same percentage of the new cap as $350, 000 would be under the old cap. There's some assumptions you're making there involving having H. Burris and ultimately leading to a Grey Cup. You could take the rest of what you say "signing a few free agents and some improvement in the coaching staff and the younger players" and "create a winning culture in the organization" and come to the same conclusion.
  7. That's exactly the point. Should we have paid that price for the chance to maybe win a few more games?
  8. I do not think this can be stressed enough. Walters, through no fault of his own, has been put in a very awkward situation and stepped away from that "negotiation" and for that, he gets the slings and arrows of outrageous criticism. I can just see the barbs thrown his way as a 'rookie' GM if he had paid that price, and the screams of getting 'schooled' once again. It took guts to walk away from that situation, but for Walters, it was almost a no-win situation.
  9. I swear some of you enjoy wallowing in adversity that follows losses of any kind that the Bombers have to fight through.
  10. I look at Burris's decision to sign with Ottawa just like I see him on the field where he looks downfield, scrambles, hesitates, then throws that half-thrown wobbler right into the hands of the defender….another bad decision. Burris would have made this team better, but boy am I going to enjoy not cheering for him…with even more gusto.
  11. So, you're saying you're not into hank as much as hank is in you…shanks.
  12. I blame the whole thing on that one guy who seems to spend his time looking at which QB is on which plane, and where that plane is flying to.
  13. Why wouldn't we just go after Willy and wait for the shoe to drop in Ottawa? The shoe being Ottawa having to make a move to move Glenn.
  14. You neglected to add that he found this information….through Facebook, where all the stars go to make their announcements. That is a relevant piece to have not included. It still may be true, but it's info we need to digest this properly.
  15. That means we can talk to O/L Myddelton a little bit earlier if need be and not wait 'til the middle of the Olympics. (as if that would detract from Free Agency) *Myddelton's agent says they will look around. - Vancouver Province
  16. You know I was reading that they were thinking about moving the date past the 15th of Feb. because it fell on the weekend, but moving it that much forward is quite the surprise. I'm sure the GMs will be ready but it may cause a bit of rearranging of preferences. I would also say that Mr. Burris is now officially on the clock.
  17. Well we would have been scrapping for first place too, if we cut down on our poor play by 1/3, our penalties by a 1/3, and our turnovers by a 1/3. There, that's 3 thirds and makes us 100% better.
  18. As unbelievable as that scenario is, as to Burris choosing Ottawa, I would be more than fine with the Glenn, Willy combination. In fact, maybe I secretly would like it better.
  19. I like the approach this article has taken and congrats to Gary Lawless for presenting it this way. That's two good pieces in a row for the man, and if he keeps this up, he'll be one of this off-season's writers' training camp's survivors. "The deal the Bombers have offered Burris, the CFL’s passing leader the past two seasons, is solid. Well over $300,000 per season with a two-year term. No other team in the CFL is in a position to make such an offer and as much as the Burris camp wants to rumble about multiple offers, Winnipeg’s is the best out there. Walters doesn’t need to negotiate against himself." Pretty much agree with this whole paragraph. And another point, made more obvious by the absence of his name being tossed around, is that of Wade Miller. He's mentioned here, but it seems that he is operating in the background like he said he would be, and is letting Walters handle the big boy's chair. Keep it up Wade.
  20. After reading that, you're lucky you're not standing on a mountain right now.
  21. No updates so far on FAs yet but…. Congratulations are in order to the Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan base for getting past the 1st portion of the awf-season in relatively good shape considering we've been slapped around here and there. For the rest of Feb. it should be a whirlwind of activity involving announcing our Coaching staff, the Burris Files, signing a squad of our own FAs, and...vulturing the picks of the remaining FAs come Feb. 15th. Pay close attention.
