  1. I've commented on this before. The tempo of the running play does not match the blocking, IMO. By the time the RB gets the ball, and hits the hole, it's been back-filled. Too slow.
  2. Hence, the 3 minutes of dead air time. Or Rod Black analyzing the play...whichever you prefer.
  3. Who's Derek Taylor? Your uncle?
  4. You're the best fan there is AND you're always right. Now, will you go away?
  5. We are playing better than both those teams. Our season comes down to next weekend...we beat BC and we have the series on them and tied in wins. Montreal then has to lose. They host Toronto. Go Argos! Um, if we are playing better why is our record worse? Convenient scapegoats for two weeks have overshadowed continuing weaknesses. I don't understand how people continue to believe this team is just short of being good. They are 4-10 have lost seven of the last 8 and need to win three of their last four to MATCH their terrible mark of last year. Sorry if many of you folks like Walters and MOS but in two full years they have not significantly done anything to make this team good. In the case of Walters he has been here five years in different capacities and hasn't been more than the low side of middling at every job. Even a chimp could make the odd good draft pick, trade, or FA signing. Yup no two ways about it the Bombers are a very bad team. At this point our record doesn't really matter. It is what it is. 4-10. And that is a crappy record. Win next week against BC, and it matters even less. Lose next week...and it's over. But even if you can't admit that this team took the top 2 teams in the West to the end of the game, and we're still in it, you have to see some sort of progression with Matt Nichols at QB. But see it as you will, I know I do.

  7. This is all sad bull crap. This was a football game. Drops, poor offence, questionable play-calling BUT that was a damn fine effort when all was said and done. Stoudermire made up for his gaffe. Moore made up do his gaffes. Nichols just about willed a win for us. The Bombers played a damn good football game..as it turns out. We all know why we lost. It sucks..big time, and it happens to us, more than humanly possible. Don't care what you say..we beat that team tonight, even though it doesn't show in the standings.
  8. Saskatchewan at BC - CFL notes - The Lions won the season series with Saskatchewan very early with wins in Weeks #3-4, both by three point margins. Both games featured head-to-head QB matchups between Travis Lulay and Kevin Glenn – since then the veteran pair of QBs have missed a combined 9 starts. - BC home games: The Lions will be looking to snap a two-game home losing streak and they are 2-3 thus far at B.C. Place this season. The last time BC lost 3 in a row at B.C. Place was in June-July 2004. - BC last week: The Lions led for most of the game at Edmonton and by as many as 16 before giving up the final 22 points of the game. First-year QB Jonathan Jennings passed for 281 yards and led three TD drives in building a 23-7 lead. He threw his first two career TD passes and picked out Emmanuel Arceneaux 6 times for 94 yards. - BC defence on the field: With an average Time of Possession of just 24:26 over the last 3 games, BC’s defence has been on the field for 35:34 per game and 184 plays versus the opponents at 150 plays. - 30+ completions: After a 3-game run without a 30+ completion, the Lions deep game has returned with 3 in the last two games. - Jerome Messam: Over the last 4 games, Messam has rushed 51 times for 278 yards and that total has included 16 runs of 10+ yards. In the previous 7 games, he averaged only 6.7 rushes per game (47 carries for 339 yards). - Kevin Glenn: Has started the last two games and extended his streak to 6 straight with at least 200+ passing yards. Glenn led the Riders to 6 scoring last week, two for touchdowns and the other being 4 Paul McCallum field goals. - Saskatchewan’s playoff chances: The Riders will need to go at least 4-1 to remain in the playoff chase as they do not hold the tie-breaker against either BC or Winnipeg. However, they are coming off their finest performance of the season and have a game against BC this week and an opportunity to be just one win behind. They end the season against cross-over threat Montreal so chances remain for the Riders. -Red Zone Riders: Saskatchewan won last week despite cashing in on only one of four Red Zone chances. Over their last 5 games they have had 13 Red Zone opportunities and turned those into 5 TDs (38%). - Two of the Lions' four wins this season have come against the Roughriders. - Lulay returned to practice on Tuesday with a brace on his left knee and said he hopes to be available soon. ... Riders : Road 0-5, vs West 1-6 Lions : Home 2-3, vs West 3-3 Rider Offense : Rush 1st Pass 6th Overall 3rd - - QB Kevin Glenn is the CFL's 7th leading passer (66.2%, 1922 yds, 9 TDs, 7 INTs) ... RB Jerome Messam is the CFL's rushing leader (776 yds, 2 TDs) ... SB Weston Dressler leads the team and is 12th in CFL receiving (651 yds, 3 TDs) ... Riders are 5th in points scored and 8th in fewest sacks allowed. Lions Offense : Rush 6th Pass 7th Overall 8th - QB Jon Jennings makes his 2nd pro start (56.9%, 533 yds, 2 TDs, 4 INTs) ... RB Andrew Harris is 2nd in CFL rushing (719 yds, 4 TDs) ... SB Emmanuel Arceneaux is 8th in CFL receiving (685 yds, 3 TDs) ... Lions are 7th in points scored and 1st in fewest sacks allowed. Rider Defense : Rush 7th Pass 8th Overall 8th - DE John Chick is 4th in CFL sacks (8) ... LB Macho Harris leads the team in INT (3) ... LB Jeff Knox Jr. is 2nd in CFL tackles (82) ... Riders are 9th in points allowed and 8th in sacks. Lion Defense: Rush 9th Pass 7th Over 9th - DL Craig Roh and Alex Bazzie lead in sacks (4) ... DB T.J. Lee leads in INT (3) ... LB Adam Bighill leads the league in tackles (84) ... Lions are 6th in points allowed and 9th in sacks. Riders ST - Paul McCallum is 5th in FG percentage (84.8%) ... P Ray Early is 3rd in punting average (45.2) ... Tristan Jackson leads in KR yards and Nic Demski leads in PR yards (1 TD) ... DE Dylan Ainsworth leads in ST tackles (11). Lions ST - K/P Richie Leone is 9th in FG percentage (76.0) and 1st in punting average (49.7) ... Shaq Murray-Lawrence leads in KR yards and Chris Rainey leads in PR yards (2 TDs) ... LB Bo Lokombo leads in ST tackles (15). - Riders are 7th in turnover ratio (-6) while the Lions are 9th (-9) ... - B.C. is favoured by 3.0-points ... The forecast calls for sunshine and 17 degrees Celsius. Who does MBB expect to win? or want to win….53.8% see Sask. as the winners.
  9. Hamilton, with Collaros, was going to finish in 1st place..no doubt. Hamilton, without Collarus is still a top team..to an extent. The 1st place finish is no longer guaranteed. For that matter, any playoff win is not going to be easy. A lot will have to go their way. I'd much rather have played Hamilton without Collaros, and with Nichols, instead of the Brohm fiasco...wouldn't you have?
  10. Hope Edmonton gets their offence together and kicks this teams' ass. But not until after Saturday, right? But, at least now we know we're better than Hamilton...having lost by one less point...〽‼
  11. How about a reunion of the Logan Ave. Comfort Station??
  12. Appreciate the thought, but it really is just a matter of paying attention to the CFL notes and trends when they come out. They do all the work, I just pay attention, piece it together for the relevant game, and pass on the information when it's there. Couldn't do it without them.I find it interesting and share it if anybody else is interested.
  13. D I S T R A C T I O N Look at this and avoid what really needs to be looked at...
  14. Wow.. It's news because Stephen Harper wants it to be. He preys on dumb voters...I agree, but I would use the word ignorant.
  15. Quite agree. Matthews will need something to help him, like a running game, otherwise, he's going to be targeted. Apparently, there is a strong wind in Hamilton tonight, so that running game would have come in handy. Unprecedented optimism is how Hamilton was described as the season went along....whoops, they'll find out how the rest of us feel without that starter in your lineup. Field position will be very important tonight, and that's in Calgary's favour.
  16. “This pains me”: Regina Mayor settles bet and raises Blue Bombers flag
  17. Calgary @ Hamilton - (the no-Collaros version) - The Stampeders can clinch a playoff spot with either a win or BC Lions loss to Saskatchewan this week. If they win at Hamilton this week, Calgary is assured of a home game at least. Edmonton can clinch a playoff spot with a win and a BC loss ensuring a 10-win season for the Eskimos (BC and Winnipeg could then be no better than 9-9). - Eric Rogers : Built a 6-game streak with at least one TD this year – he has not scored a touchdown since then (last 5 games). - Calgary is now 25-5 when Bo Levi Mitchell starts at QB after last week’s win over Winnipeg. Mitchell is tied for first with Tracy Ham at 25-5 over his first 30 career starts. - The Stampeders won 25-23 at Winnipeg coming back from an opening drive TD by the Bombers to become the first team to 10 wins in 2015. Of their 10 wins in 2015, 6 have involved a comeback and 4 have been wire-to-wire victories. - Last week, Hamilton did not record a single 1st down by rush. In the year of the pass, that has happened twice before but not by Hamilton. A scan of all Yardsticks reports back to 2002 shows at least one by Hamilton in any game. - The Ticats will be coming off a bye this week; teams doing that in 2015 are 8-5 thus far. The last four clubs coming off a bye week this year all won their games. Hamilton lost after their first bye this season. - With a win, Calgary can clinch a playoff spot for the 11th consecutive season, two short of their club record of 13 years in a row (1989-2001). They can sew up a home playoff game for the 4th year in a row and for the 6th time in the last eight years. That sets up an attempt to do something they haven’t before – win the Grey Cup two years in a row. - The Tiger-Cats are farther out than Calgary but a victory would ensure at least a .500 season and put them potentially 3 wins ahead of Montreal (pending their game on Thursday night). A Hamilton win this week combined with a loss by BC would put the Ticats just ONE win away from clinching at least a cross-over position - This week Collaros miss a start for Hamilton for the 6th time in 31 games since 2014. By chance, Calgary will now be the opponent in those games for the THIRD time (the others were Ottawa, Winnipeg & BC). The Ticats are just 1-6 when Collaros either does not start or was injured and did not finish. - Calgary has won the last 7 meetings with Hamilton and 11 of the last 12 overall. However, this will be the first time that the Stampeders will be playing at Tim Hortons Field. - Last year Calgary set a club record with 8 road victories (8-1) and this season they are at 3-3. They are looking to extend a 5-year streak of at least a .500 record on the road. Making it 6 years running would set a new club record as they have been .500 or better on the road in 5 consecutive seasons twice before (1961-65 & 1992-96). - The Ticats are dominating the Turnover statistics in 2015 as their +18 mark is 16 better than Edmonton at #2 with only a +2 Ratio. No team has had such a big gap over #2 since Montreal in 2009 (+32 vs +9). - The Stampeders are led by the CFL’s leading receiver Eric Rogers (1,124 yards) who is the only one to reach 1,000 yards at this point. Teammate Marquay McDaniel (815 yards) sits at #3 but is just 8 yards back of S.J. Green (823). The Stampeders have twice before had the top two in the league: 1952 with Bob Shaw and Paul Salata, and most recently in 1999 with Allen Pitts and Travis Moore. 96.2% of MBB voters have picked the Calgary Stampeders to win this game. I concur. As does Chris Schultz.
  18. I have to give Henry a standing ovation. That was outstanding. Most completions ever in a game.
  19. A couple lessons to be learned here. Montreal - this is not the time to adopt an MB-style offence AND Winnipeg, this is the offensive style you play to defeat Montreal.
  20. Is this the quick high tempo offence that Tedford envisioned? Love that no huddle, go, go, go for it hustle. Did they know that Montreal's playing in a short week? You're ding dang right they did.
  21. I gotta say, when Henry's on, his passes are a thing of beauty.. And that is an efficient offence..
