  1. ^^Looks like Hamilton is stuck waiting on Laurent...^^ - CFL news Buono can get two Americans to carry the rock for the $200,000 it would take to keep Harris - @FifthQtr #CFL #BCLions 2/2 - Former #Calstampeders DB Brandon Browner indicates via his twitter and instagram he's no long a New Orleans Saint. #CFL #NFL - in related NFL news..Johnny Manziel has been dropped by his agent. MORE: fw.to/YCFtTOi *** late entry...
  2. As with Lirim...some are missing the point. Lirim is not in a position to be asking anything contract-related from the Bombers. He should smile, and say thank you to another entry level contract, just to try out.
  3. I agree. All I can say is down periscope. Maybe, since they can't seem to figure a good live broadcast out, they should tape the bloody thing, spend an hour figuring how to post it, then have it shown... How hard is it to film a live broadcast?
  4. I guess the only small surprise for me would be Lirim and Washington. That indicates full on for Medlock and the expense-benefit ratio wasn't working on Washington?
  5. Nor his tracking speed and athleticism..
  6. I don't see them calling a press conference to announce that they have nothing to announce. That wouldn't make an ounce of sense..
  7. What a class act... Vancouver Canuck All-Star winger gave his share of the all-star game winnings $91,000 US to the Canuck training staff to share..
  8. - The #calstampeders have re-signed d-lineman & special-teams standout Ben D'Aguilar → ow.ly/XXK8R #CFLFA - #Argos closing in on deals with Jermain Gabriel & Cory Greenwood. Jim Barker optimistic both will get done before Feb 9th. #CFL - Canadian offensive lineman Wayne Smith and the Argos have reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension, per CFL sources. - The #Argos have signed free agent RB Michael Dyer. #CFL - Riders have basically told RB Kory Sheets "thanks but no thanks" with regards to a comeback with Saskatchewan - Logically, it only stands to reason that the Bombers are going to make yet another splash on the first day of free agency in 2016. Rumors have swirled all off-season about Walters’ interest in receivers Ryan Smith and Kenny Stafford, defensive tackle Ted Laurent, running back Andrew Harris, safety Mike Edem, and kicker/punter Justin Medlock, among others. - 3down nation.
  9. Target Date for Free Agency Feb. 9th 12 noon ET - 11 am Winnipeg - 9 am Kelowna The Bombers will lead into the pre-draft weekend with a press conference tomorrow, February 5th, at 10:00am to discuss Free Agency as it pertains to the Blue Bombers. Below is a list of the Bomber's free agents: Capers, Selvish OL International Gibson, Thaddeus DL International Hajrullahu, Lirim K National Marshall, Cameron RB International Newman, Graig DB National Pontbriand, Michel-Pierre FB National Washington, Demond DB International Moore, Nick WR International Shell, Lin-J DB International Walker, Chevon RB International Extended : Daniels, Jace OL International Extended (12/14/15) Nichols, Matt QB International Extended (01/05/16) Richardson, Louie DL National Extended (01/25/16) We already know N. Moore won't be extended, and I've assumed Walker and Shell are gonzo, so that leaves 7 players, including 3 Non-imports. How many of these 7 guys will be announced as re-signed by Walters tomorrow? Any guesses or half wishes, preferences? Marshall? Hajrullahu? Pontbriand? Newman? What about Washington?
  10. Did you think that they liked the entire makeup of that Atlanta team from their roster, their farm club all the way through to their draft prospects. I don't think so. They had to undergo quite a change in direction and philosophy, not to mention the entire SMS makeup. So yes, I would say revamped. Burmi and Cormier? Ill give you Cormier, but I think Burmistrov has value. And Cormier is a good example of how long it takes to flip a main roster and a farm team's roster.
  11. There must be a few hundred things Buck Pierce could relate to a QB prospect off the tip of his tongue alone. You have to realize that when there is something there, in a former player, that management would, and should, give them every opportunity to use, and pass on that knowledge. Running backs coach is a good entry level position to start...and learn to coach. Convenience hire? Maybe, but I applaud the Bombers for recognizing a player and opening a door for him.
  12. But this is where the Jets want to get to....the right mix of vets and youth. You simply can't compare a revamped franchise (Atlanta to Winnipeg) with other established franchises. It doesn't work. As far as I'm concerned, the Jets franchise started when they got here, and all the contracts and players had to be re-evaluated, changed over and redone. This takes time. You just can't cut 20 players and start anew. Florida? 20+ years as a franchise, so it was a good move to ink Jagr, but make no mistake, it was still a hell of a gamble..
  13. In the NHL, it's not simply a matter of spending to the limit every year especially when you have such a mixture of young-uns and big names about to be free agents. The Jets, from when they started, and up to this point, have to have had a huge budgeted-up form chart and a long term franchise plan with projections balancing the obvious with the unexpected. Its taken a while for the Jets to get to this point and, believe or not, the team is trending upwards. For those who thought a Stanley Cup run was imminent, you're way ahead of yourselves. Even a playoff run was a question mark when so many new players and question marks existed on this team. It's not a matter of being frugal, but rather following your long term plan. They'll reach big time spending soon enough. TUP said it right, they do have it figured out, and are following their team chart.
  14. I really don't understand the reference to the scouting on this issue. It probably boils down to staff, led by R.Hall mentioning something after Sask released Harris. The wheels were set in motion somewhere along the line, and we have ourselves another body in camp. This guy, like him or not, played fo Hall, is a veteran, is versatile, and seems to be a good locker room guy. (according to some tweets about welcoming him) I just don't see the blame being put on scouts for a roster move like this. You still need veterans. Either that, or they were trying to bait bluto Walby. And they got him good. (Believing we signed A. Harris today)
  15. Oh yes, the Scheehlers line.. **Glad to see they got the token 'Buff penalty' out of the way early...
  16. I can't speak for young Canadians, but I can tell you that if people like those off-colour Pee Wee Herman fitting suits, then HNIC may be in trouble. Maybe if they gave gorgeous George more time, he wouldn't have to just squeeze himself into his younger brother's suits.. To me, he looks ridiculous. Credibility iced.
  17. *There are 1st line signings and there are backup-show-me-what-you-got-left-veteran signings. *(Macho Harris)
  18. Watman would be a good choice but I think Laurent and Capioccotti will be too expensive for them to better fill their roster openings. Bulcke might be a good option for us..
  19. Sunday schtuff... -Swayze and Argos are talking. -Lulay and BC are talking. -Harris? Mum. -Matt Nichols is excited to play in Winnipeg...he says so. I find it somewhat ironic that now that we have a QB...there's QBs to be had. "Bombers offensive coordinator Paul Lapolice called Weston Dressler within five minutes of him hitting the open market. Clearly Lapo is ecstatic to work with Weston again" - Rod Pedersen (unconfirmed) Also unconfirmed..."Chris Jones is sending Chris Getzlaf to an American specialist to get definitive word on his foot injuries before re-signing the veteran receiver to a new deal." More Pedersen: "I'm sure Taman is sitting back - wherever he is - wishing he had an avenue to explain how the franchise got to this point. He's certainly free to speak since he's a free agent. I look forward to hearing what he has to say. It just won't be here." Chris jones -"You always have to rebuild so you're always looking where your players will come from and who's going to back them up? We're looking at centre, guard and a few receivers. Also the safety and nose tackle spots. That's probably where we'll target." Two outstanding non-watchable events on today. The NFL Pro Bowl and the NHL All-Star game. Flip a coin to see which one to ignore most. The Senior Bowl is finished for another year. A lot of pro scouts were taking in the action. NFL scouts get first dibs and leftovers are for CFL scouts. No truth to the rumour that 30 people were handing out pieces of watermelon and Saskatchewan brochures/maps.
  20. Bettman, otherwise known as "the Big Short", gets an contract extension. hooray... - The Bettman contract extension should mean he'll have more career earnings than any NHL player who played under his watch. #nocommishcap - Chris Cuthbert "Only Bettman could have led the NHL to record revenues in an era where literally every sport has record revenues."- @ DownGoesBrown
  21. That's gold right there. Bold prediction. Well done. **** Nick Moore to Calgary? Shamawd Chambers to Toronto? Looks like...according to Checking Down, CFL style. Josh Bourke? Can't see him Winnipeg bound at all. Justin Capicciotti? In Winnipeg? Only for big big money. 11 more days...
  22. I don't agree with the idea that a defence cannot be worn down during the course of a game. Of course players want to be out there rather than sit, that's the excitement and enjoyment element. But if you think a well run offence can't take the steam out of a defence, I would advise you watch again. And even though the offence could be on the field the same length of time, they have the distinct advantage of knowing where the play is going and can spread the running/receiving around. AND, they have the element of a hurry up offence on their side. There could be an element of bad coaching involved, but if you're on the field the majority of time...you will get run down..
  23. Hey, that's great...for us. But in our case, it actually plays right in to what we needed to do, that is, get a 1st rate receiver, at a favourable price, in time to prepare to get others in FA. But, depending on who, and what you believe, it has more to do with the impending payment of a bonus. If they got the bonus, then Sask. made the mistake. If they didn't get the bonus, then the actions by the player's agents must be questioned.
  24. Would that it t'were so simple. Would that it t'were so simple. Would that it t'were so simple. Would that it t'were so simple. ....it's complicated. Jones had just said that they would be looking for more Nat. receivers. I guess this follows that thought.
  25. Ah, he doesn't say anything about Gabe's birthday, if that's what you're looking for..? http://www.tsn.ca/radio/winnipeg-1290/walters-dressler-signing-sets-up-busy-offseason-1.430371
