  1. I can easily see BC Lions and the Bombers being tied at 8-10 in the standings.. Hell, they both could be tied at 7-11, although that scenario might not get them a crossover. Depends on Toronto.
  2. There will be no itoldyasos.
  3. If you look at the total picture, it isn’t a surprise that Nichols gets the call. The surprise would be if Nichols plays poorly and stays in the game. These guys, the Coaches, must have discussed this move ad nauseam. There must be awareness that a win is a must in this game. I’ll be looking at Nichol’s play for sure, but I’ll be more focused on LaPo’s play calling. I don’t expect much change though because LaPo doesn’t change much from half to half or game to game. We are going to win though..
  4. More and more we see this. He’s brilliant at the start of games, then he defaults to the same old, same old. He definitely likes his possession game, but what is wrong with mixing it up? Short, deep, middle. We’ve shown we can do it, but we go away from it. Harris is a tremendous asset for this team, but he can also be a tremendous decoy asset..as in play action, misdirection, etc. He can be used as much but in a different capacity, especially when you have guys like Demski who can chip in. Receivers? I really can’t ascertain whether the receivers we have are capable when they are run in a LaPo offence. QB? Nichols is limited, but open the playbook more and we’d get a better idea of his range. He can be better if given a better game plan. Yes, I agree, the answer always comes back to LaPo.
  5. Punish the tackler for reaching out and grabbing what’s available? I don’t think so. Like I pointed out, there would have been no chance for a tackle if the runner didn’t have that hair choice. I don’t care how you wear your hair, but think smart, wrap it, or hide it, don’t let it be a disadvantage, or a cause for injury.
  6. Yes, they have better receivers, but they also have a better offensive system that allows the ball to be thrown deep. And, oh yeah, they have a top 2 QB who knows how to throw a deep ball. We don’t utilize our receivers in the same manner, so it’s pointless to say our receivers aren’t good. They rarely get a chance to shine. Our system - our QB.
  7. That “toss” by Masoli should have been intentional grounding. Nobody in sight, and he was in the grasp. Nichols wasn’t so lucky..
  8. An offensive player who chooses to have his hair at that length is asking for trouble. There’s no reason, other than vanity, to keep your hair at that length when your playing a sport like football. Look at that play. There is no chance for a tackle if the dreads are not flopping out there. Nobody wants to see injuries, but good gawd man..protect yourself.
  9. I was watching the Thursday night football game - Ravens and Bengals. Play by play revealed something called mis, mis, oh yeah mis-direction. Not missed direction. Does anybody know know what that means in a team’s offence? Don’t recognize the term right off...
  10. Can’t. I lent it to the Alouettes for the remainder of the season..
  11. I don’t know about the negativity guys. I think we now have a good chance to win. I’ve been very busy over the bye week. I snuck into LaPo’s office and stole a playbook that they’ve been reliant on this year.
  12. Bye the way BC is 4-6..
  13. Not surprised. Riderfans.com is the “Official” referee-bashing/complaining forum of the CFL..
  14. Wouldn’t it look odd though if, on FG attempts, one official signals FG because he sees it has the power and looks good while the other official waves it off because it faded wide of the goal post? That’s why they stand where they do, and communicate.
  15. The Riders will always have the tramp stamp..
  16. Two words - Mike Reilly
  17. How about a level playing field? Bombers put up 26 point vs Calgary. Would have liked 5 more turnovers to keep Calgary off the field and see if we got points off of them. 19-15 Calgary after 3 Q But that’s football...or LaPo O...take your pick.
  18. 7 turnovers - Calgary..24 points
  19. Separate, and yet related. - What bothers me is the thought that Regina thinks they beat us in two games. One team did beat us, but it wasn’t them.. - I think l LaPo knows an awful lot about offensive playmaking. Unfortunately, he applies more of the awful than the playmaking. There’s a severe difference between what he knows and how he uses that knowledge. - Mr. Nichols. As we are seeing, he is a somewhat limited QB. He needs lots of support to have a decent game. And he has provided decent games. But he hit the lowest of lows last game. He was stripped of the veneer of a smart, efficient QB. Hard talk and film study will only get you so far, and as we now realizing, we may not be going far at all. - The combination of LaPolice and Nichols. - From the BC game until this last fiasco, we have seen an offence that gets stymied easily and finds no way to find a way to keep our offence on the field. 7 losses. Half of which could have been avoided with just a few first downs in each game. Pitiful. - I don’t believe I’ve ever seen 2 pick six TDs, in the red zone, by Linemen. Total disaster and a sign of a flailing ball club. I feel sorry for the players who are playing hard and watching their season getting flushed. - Tell me, is there a default setting in LaPolice’s offence? Because it seems when things look to be working, the plays default back to predictable calls or head scratching calls.. - Saskatchewan- held to 6 FGs.. 18 points. Plus the 2 TDs we gave them. Sickening. - Really good news from the CFL head office this week - the Bombers aren’t playing due to a bye.. - I thought there was a déjà vu moment on Monday Night Football The first pass of the game was a pick six. What I want to know is who’s messing with me? - The more I watch CFL games and the offences those teams run, for the most part, the less I think of LaPo’s play calling..bottom third in the league. - And to think I thought Nichols was a better QB than Masoli.. - 17 is not a friendly number for the Bombers..either getting stuck at that number on offence or donating to the opposition. - And finally, time for O’Shea to be more of a hard ass. His coaching style is wearing thin.
  20. Banjo Bowl #15 · 2018 Game #58 · Saskatchewan at Winnipeg: 􏰀 The Bombers and Riders have played back-to-back weeks in each of the last 14 years around Labour Day (13 sellouts). The second half of which has come to be known as the Banjo Bowl in which Winnipeg leads 8 wins to 6. Since 2004 in this back-to-back LD set, the count favours Saskatchewan 6-2: SSK sweeps: 6 ('05, '08, '09, '11, '12, '14) WPG sweeps: 2 ('04, '16) Splits: 6 The Bombers have won 3 in a row and 4 of the last 5 Banjo Bowl games. Matt Nichols will be starting his 4th straight Banjo Bowl for the Bombers and he comes in with a 4-4 mark as a starter in 2018. Zach Collaros will be starting in the Banjo Bowl for the first time BANJO BOWL OBSERVATIONS: - Banjo Bowl Walk Off Wins: 2012 Sandro DeAngelis FG (40 yds); 2008 Luca Congi FG (29 yds) - The team that has scored first in the Banjo Bowl has won 10 times out of 14 (71%) - The Bombers have won the last three Banjo Bowl games by a combined 87 to 45 score and trailed by no more than 7 points. - The largest comeback to win in the Banjo Bowl was the Riders in 2005 when overcame an 11-point deficit (down 15-4) to win - There have been just two comebacks to win from double-digit deficits both by Saskatchewan (2005: from -11, 2011: from -10) - Passing yards record: Michael Bishop for Saskatchewan 370 yards in the 2008 edition CFL Game #58 Team Notes – Saskatchewan at Winnipeg: - No 300+'s: Zach Collaros and Matt Nichols are the only QBs among those with at least 5 starts that have yet to record a 300-yard passing game in 2018. Collaros' last 300+ was on Jul 15/17 and he has gone 12 starts with a single-game high of 282 yards. Nichols' last 300+ game was on Sep 22/17 and he has gone 13 games in a row without going over 300. - Bombers INTs: Over their first 7 games Winnipeg defenders made 11 interceptions which led to 33 Blue Bomber points off these Turnovers. Since then over the last 4 games, they have just one INT and zero points. - CFL record for Medlock: Since the 2015 move of the 1-point convert kick out to 32 yards, the league-wide % made since then has tracked as follows prior to 2018: 2015: 85% 2016: 91% 2017: 91%. In 2018, CFL kickers are a remarkable 94% and none better than Justin Medlock. He is a perfect 35-of-35 in 2018 and has now made a record 44 in a row (last miss Sep 30/17). - Mike Miller: Ranks #4 in the CFL in 2018 with 11 Special Teams Tackles and is just one short of the 150 mark for his career - a level reached by only 12 players all-time. Miller is the current Active leader at 149 just ahead of Kyries Hebert (145) and the only other active player with 100+ Rolly Lumbala (102). Miller is now #13 all-time tied with Shawn Gallant and 4 back of Dan Rashovich at #12 (153). - Bombers in 2nd-&-long: Over the last 3 games, Winnipeg's 2nd down conversion rate has dipped to just 46% after being at 53% through Game #8. One of the reasons is likely the fact that of their 70 second down situations, only 8 have been in 2nd-&-3 yards or less - they have had almost 90% of their 2nd down chances in 2-&-4+ in those 3 games (62 out of 70). - Matt Nichols: Comes into this game with a streak of 3 consecutive losses as a starter. That matches his longest-ever run (Sep 20/15 to Oct 3/15). He has never before lost 4 straight starts in his career. Nichols has started head-to-head against Zach Collaros 3 times now and is 1-2 in those games (Aug 21/15, Aug 12/17 & Sep 2/18). - Chris Randle 100: Reaches CFL regular season game #100 for his career this week and that has included 96 starts. - Two Rider players with a Punt Return Touchdown: Last week Kyren Moore returned a punt for a TD joining Rider teammate Christion Jones. The last time that Saskatchewan had two players return a punt for a touchdown in the same season was 1997 (Terryl Ulmer, Rod Harris). - Avoiding 4 losses in a row: The Bombers have not lost 4 games in a row in the same season since mid-2015, a span of 55 games. - Riders Sacks Allowed: Saskatchewan allowed 9 Sacks in their first 4 games. Since then in 6 games they have yielded just 4 including only one last week at home to Winnipeg.
