  1. It's a no for Joan McCusker, Mike Harris and Rod Black for me. Jay Onrait... Come On Down...
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if Milanovich has the same rules as Trestman had regarding the media. In Toronto, they don't control who talks to the media. They can control the message since there is only one reporter in the room.
  3. I'd rather take Black for one game a week (with the chance he's working either the one in Winnipeg that I am at, or the Rider game that I am not watching ) rather than hearing Black before, during and after every game, four games a week.
  4. I dislike retiring numbers. Watching the Montreal Canadiens in the playoffs, their team roster resembled the Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo board.
  5. Most LSers (if not all) in the CFL and NFL are in the same boat.
  6. "Touchdown means that it's time for... Jazz Hands!!!"
  7. Yes. Is your google broken? He played for Hamilton, Edmonton, Toronto, and Calgary as a special teamer. On a side note, D I C K Assman from Regina, Sk (I believe no relation) made celebrity status in North America in the mid-nineties. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Assman
  8. In 2003-04, Chuck Assman (special teamer for Calgary/Toronto) worked at the same company I did before he want back to play for the 2004 season. The guys can still have off season jobs. Doesn't Kevin Glenn operate Timmy's in Detroit?
  9. Another concept lost in this whole negotiation is that the league has increased the number of CFLPA jobs by 12.5% with the expansion, and are proposing even more job increases with the expansion of the 42 man roster. This shouldn't be taken lightly. It will result in extended careers and opportunities of the CFLPA members.
  10. Don't forget about Boltus! He'll be our starting QB. I suspect that Desjardins would out manoeuvre us for Mr. Boltus.
  11. Replacement players... Would that mean we would be free to sign Joey Elliott, Justin Goltz and Chase Clement?
  12. Busch Light. Can we have a NI beer ratio? Please?
  13. Bigger question: Would we still have to drink Budweiser or could we also have a replacement beer?
  14. IMO the players don't have a lot of choice. 1. There are no other leagues that they can work in. They would have to displace arena league players, and earn a lot less money. 2. Hamilton and Toronto (and BC) can show historical and recent cash flow issues. 3. League revenues are nowhere near level across the board. Saskatchewan can make huge money (fueled by clothing/jersey sales), where other teams are either barely breaking even or starting out (Ottawa). 4. 42 man rosters and 80 players on each pre-season roster, currently in shape ready to play. At the ned of the day, I was very, very impressed with the CFL's stance and how it was described in Mark Cohon's letter.
  15. Might not have to use the cards the way negotiating is going. I have no problem as long as In can print or e-mail tickets.
  16. The bigger question I have in Hamilton will be if Giovonne Aprille (Johnny April) actually shows up to camp and actually plays. I thought he showed well at our camp a couple of years ago.
  17. I miss Randorf, Dunigan and Stegall. Dare I say it, I miss Climie.
  18. Maybe its time to bring Ian Logan back?
  19. The problem lies with the cheap Winnipeggers. They'd still be wearing their white / blue jerseys that they bought when they were 22 years old. Rick House, Joe Poplawski, James West, and Bob Cameron jerseys: from the 80's, all worn out, and a size and a half too small. The team needs to sell merchandise. The best way to do so is to change the jerseys/symbols somewhat frequently.
  20. no but their owners, True North, were here..the ones who financed most of the arena and who subsequently negotiated a deal with the province and the city upon the Jets arrival..a deal that made sense. No coming back to the city saying hey our business plan didn't work and was completely unrealistic, we didn't foresee these extra costs due to the location of our facility so we're gonna need more subsidies. Bombers didn't choose the location of the stadium. Location was dictated by the Feds on a condition of funding. The Bombers did have a choice though. They and the province could have said no to the feds and and picked a better spot. As it is the transport subsidies the Bombers are getting from the the city will end up being more than the $15 million they received from the feds. From http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/millions-to-aid-true-north-141154603.html "WINNIPEGGERS aren't just cheering for the Jets, they're also funnelling $6.9 million to True North Sports & Entertainment this year through city and provincial subsidies for pro sports teams. And public support for the NHL club will climb to almost $11 million a year, once the province completes the transfer of 90 VLTs to the vicinity of the MTS Centre." "Support systems PUBLIC funding mechanisms that support True North Sports & Entertainment: City entertainment tax refund: $5.8 million in 2012 Provincial gaming revenue: Up to $4 million a year, for 19 more years City-provincial property-tax break: $816,140 annually, based on current assessment City business-tax refund: $250,000 annually" Are these tax breaks even for both teams?
  21. I thought you'd be more concerned about re-signing Goltz, since we've got him hiding on the free agent list.
  22. Season tickets are a blessing and a curse. Season tickets are discounted up to 35%, regular tickets are not. We have two guaranteed sell outs this year (Riders #1 and Banjo Bowl), so 7 games left. If the team plays well and the walk up crowds are big, the club potentially can make 30% more money on those 4000 seats.
  23. It's an outdoor stadium, and the outdoor elements caused damage. If the club wasn't getting things repaired, that would be news. Yes this is a disappointment, but should be a warranty repair by the contractor. As a great man once said, "Non-issue, handled internally. Not talking about it. There we go, we’re done."
