  1. That is a legit question. The only ones who can answer are the people it's referencing. A lot of them see to think it is. The Edmonton Inuit wouldn't be "wrong" per say, but it would be a dumb team name as far as I'm concerned. So would the Winnipeg Polish. Or the Toronto Italians. IF Irish people start saying they feel like the "fighting Irish" name is racist, then the conversation should take place. It's not up to other people to decide what is and what isn't insulting to someone else. Any younger sibling will know, that just because your older brother said his punches didn't hurt you, didn't mean he was right. The Braves and The Chiefs could potentially get away with keeping the names, but everything else, logo/chants/etc etc all very much show heavy indigenous influences. We'd be willingly ignorant to say they aren't referencing those things with the names. As for the people not finding their rec teams insulting..again if they are from that ancestry and are fine with calling themselves that, cool...When's the last time an indigenous person played for any of the teams mentioned? Never mind a vast majority of the team being composed of them? And yes we should go on and on to reactify the mistakes of the past. That is literally the only thing to do. Snowflake is often thrown around by people who are also complaining (I'm not saying you are booch) about other people complaining. So who is the real snowflake here? People who are saying a racist name/caricature is being used, or those who are unwilling to change a name of a sports team? Seems like priorities might be a bit backwards. To add to what Noeller was saying...why would anyone WANT their teams name to be about a certain group of people? Especially when said group has told them it's insulting?
  2. This is an incredibly stupid take. the "group of people" are Inuits, the people the name references and they (maybe not all, but at least a portion) decided it was an insulting/degrading name. How is that not enough? But because a name has been used for a long time, there's no need to change it? That's literally not how anything works...in any industry...ever. Change happens. both willingly and by force. some quick digging shows that A) Eskimos were also know as the Esquimaux (which was the original spelling of Eskimo) and also the Elks. It was also "given to them" as a literal insult. "Likewise Calgary's responded with insults about Edmonton's northern latitude and frigid weather, calling the city's residents "Esquimaux" (an archaic spelling of "Eskimos", referring to the indigenous people of the Canadian Arctic, properly called Inuit)." So "perfectly fine" by whose standard?
  3. I do get a bit of a chuckle from all these american players trying to hold fire to Ambrose's feet. Like they're good. Maybe even HOF good...but there are people waiting to take their place...they arent irreplaceable. So go ahead banks, Daniels, Colins...you're only hurting your own career. Keep in mind I do fully understand why some arent going to play, and I'm not holding anything against them, I just think it's funny the way their doing it.
  4. Hub city of WPG is the only place it makes sense. I still don't think the CFL happens, if they do theyll still government $$. Its gonna be an interesting few weeks.
  5. And that is why Jones was cut. He likely violated the teams social media policy. They did actually have a fairlyarge conversation about it from what I remember. I personally think their name should change, but to say they havent talked about doing it, is false.
  6. I've been saying this since they released the schedule of the games. Most are super boring games. It's like TSN can't help but **** up most things CFL.
  7. My thoughts too. Wish they would just rip the band aid off and officially cancel the season. Ask the Gov for funds to keep the league a float. And start planning for 2021 which will still be heavily impacted by COVID.
  8. Yup, it would also be a pretty decent fit for him. They have talent at all levels on the O.
  9. I'm going to be very surprised if there is a season as well. Just don't see how they get it done.
  10. There's a LOT of misinformation in this Thread. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SPEAK WITH A DOCTOR AND DON'T TAKE ADVICE OFF A FOOTBALL FORUM. There are a lot of good football people on here...their medical knowledge/advice is not to be followed. p.s whoever told someone that this was a 2 week deal was a ******* dummy. I don't know who said that to you speed but you should stop talking to them.
  11. His back ground and Sanchez too. No other professional league in any sport would do something like that. Absolutely brutal and I hope they got a tongue lashing from the CFL for doing so. If any of my employees (Not that I have a lot) were out there promoting another business/borderline competitor, during a huge event, they wouldn't be working for long.
  12. Fair enough
  13. I actually disagree that he is dumb. I think he knows exactly what he is doing/saying and why. The issue is WE, (or at least most people) don't know. For the most part, when a president speaks everyone understands where he is coming from and what his motives are/have been. With Trump his motives are almost never clear (Which I believe he's doing purposely) and he panders more then any other president in the history of that country. But dumb..I don't think so. He knows what he's doing. For good or bad, he knows...
  14. It's paid hours. I'm working more then I was before this. And the company I work for has been hiring on an almost continuous bases to keep up with demand since this has started.
  15. I've heard worse ideas!
  16. This is the same for literally every country.
  17. I think it'd be close to that. You'd have to factor in ticket cost, concessions and even possibly the store purchases. Plus many households come to games together...so instead of 3 or 4 tickets, it's one PPV. And parking sales too, though I don't know where that revenue goes to.
  18. Oh ok, I hadn't seen that. So one hurdle down!! yay! lol
  19. Yes, but I don't think it would be smart to base ratings on something was free when talking about something that would not be, especially when that product would likely be close to if not over $100 per person.
  20. Another hurdle that has been talked about..but not nearly enough. Is the American players. Would they be able to come over?
  21. The draft was free...
  22. On top of all those things, youd still be putting your health at in the hands of some idiots (there are always idiots) who think they know better and would undoubtedly ignore the rules.
  23. This...while the games are outside, theres the whole getting to and from your seats...bathrooms, concessions etc. I also dont spend 3+ hours in the grocery store. Nor do I attend the grocery store with 2 other people who dont live with me. On top of that, basically my entire section is season ticket holders (211 lower section, what up!!). So who moves and to where? And if I'm moving, I'd hope/expect a better seat as I'm sure most people would...if the seats are significantly worse/cheaper then what I paid for am I compensated?
  24. The ppv would need be to ridiculously expensive to work Unfortunately.
  25. Change takes time. And has already started via CFL 2.0 and trying to get the world to watch which will bring more TV contracts which means less reliance on ticket sales. Your take on this is surprisingly ignorant
