If Daenerys ends up on the throne (and she's really the least interesting character, at least on the show, wouldnt that mean the end of the Lannisters...and the Starks (by way of Sansa)?  Unless Jamie also kills Daenerys.

    Spoiler

Tyrion could be key to both the survival of  the Lannisters (and Sansa since she is/was his wife) and Daenerys return to the throne.

Agreed on most counts.  I really like jamie and really dislike Cercei.  They've done a good job of making her sympathetic but its hard to root for them...well hard to root for her.  But I want to see Jamie kick all kinds of ass.  Aside from shoving that kid out of a window in Season 1, he seems pretty honorable.

How do you see it ending?  Assuming they come to a conclusion eventually with someone taking the throne and peace reigning...who is the king/queen?  I always assumed Jon Snow.

    Spoiler

They've done Jamie almost exactly as they have in the books and I agree, he's definitely turned into someone you want to root for (the Bran thing aside).  He's even more likeable at this point in the books (IMO).

As for the end, I don't see Jon living.  Martin has said he anticipates a bittersweet ending so I picture Jon being the key to victory over the white walkers but losing his life in the process.  Daenerys takes her spot on the Iron Throne with her dragons at her side kicking off a new Targaryen dynasty.

  3. I enjoyed it.  I'll use the spoiler function for specifics in case people haven't seen it yet, but I liked the fact that it answered questions left from last season (not all of them though!) and opened the door for new ones.

    Spoiler

    Highlights for me were:

    1) Brianne & Sansa finally hooking up (with Theon & Podricks help).  Could cause lots of trouble for the Bolton's if they can get to some kind of safety.

    2) The end scene was a great display of the power the Red Woman has (could have done without the 400 year old naked woman before bed though!).

    Lowlights:

    1) The Jamie/Cercei scene didn't do much for me.  Not sure why, just didn't.  I think I expected more emotion/anger, especially from Cercei.

    2) Doran Martells death.  A huge diversion from the books that I'm not a fan of.  There's a whole angle that is being completely skipped/redone that I'm looking forward to in the books.  I also think that they wasted Dr. Bashir's talents in such a small role! :P

Rousey fought Holm's game. If she had fought a Rousey game Holm wouldn't have gone to round two. Tate didn't charge like a sloppy bull and Holm wasn't rounded enough to outlast her.

It doesn't matter at all who put who down the simple fact is McGregor has no ground game. McGregor was able to survive the smaller Mendes ground game but he wasn't going to outlast Diaz. McGregor is not Should not fight higher than lightweight he is just not big enough.

You mean like when Rousey took her down in round 1 and went for her signature armbar that Holm escaped?

Holm was 30 seconds away from a clear unanimous decision win against Tate, tell me again how she was vastly outclassed?

McGregor does have a ground game (go back & watch rounds 2 & 3 against Max Holloway), it's just not his forte and isn't anywhere near Nate's level (not many people in those division are).  I do agree that he shouldn't be fighting higher than 155  though (Nate shouldn't either), those guys are just too big.

I think if you read GCN's posts, you'd see the exact problem.  It's well laid out.  Too much management, not enough worker bees.  It's really not hard to understand.  It's no different than when a friend of mine was brought in to clean up Saskoil after years of NDP mismanagement.  There were layers upon layers of vice presidents, with entire staffs, that were literally just pushing papers up and down, and adding zero value.  After doing an analysis there were millions of dollars of costs identified that were adding no value whatsoever to the corporation.  Everything was streamlined and hundreds of redundant employees (NDP cronies) were ****-canned.  And Saskoil finally began turning a profit.

I get that you want to protect the NDP from looking too bad here, but it's a losing battle.  There is just too much evidence.

Swordfish quite a guilty pleasure. Also interesting Winnipeg connection to that movie. The 360 explosion scene was done here I believe.

Frantic Films is a Winnipeg company that did that scene.  They did quite a number of big movies (Superman Returns, X-Men 2 & 3 amongst others) but I believe that part of their company was bought out.

I still remember Halle Berry getting like $250k for 5 seconds of unspectacular boob in swordfish.  but there's a demand for it.  As you mention if you have the physique, you should probably be comfortable in your own skin. As an actor/actress, I would see it as opening a lot more doors for future roles.  It doesnt discredit your abilities, but if your willing to go all in for a role,  alot of people pay to see it, and want to work with it.  I would say Sharon stone is a good example.  despite being in Total recall, I would say Basic Instinct really set her career on fire for a good long time. people still took her seriously after the fact

Yep, they take her so seriously that she has since been nominated for Worst Actress at the Razzies 4 times since then.  You mention her name and the 1st thing that comes to everyone's mind is the interview scene in Basic Instinct.  She has done good work since then (Casino most notably) but it's not what she's known for.

Wonder of that's true cuz she'd probably only have been 15 or 16 no?

Early twenties I would guess.  She went to university in Tampa (where Brutus is from) and graduated when she was 22, she got into wrestling when she was 25.

I don't see her being named though, like I said it was lots of speculation. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't but the general consensus was that it was Shae refusing do do nude scenes, which makes sense considering she did a brief one in the first season and nothing else. Remember this is the actress with a past in dirty movies who did get some actual acting acclaim overseas. Would make sense she wanted to focus on her acting ability rather than the past.

I linked that article because TUP said it was season one & that article shows that it was season 3.

It's true that the GOT refusal hasn't been confirmed as coming from her but Clarke has mentioned the same sentiment in other interviews.  She turned down 50 Shades of Grey because she didn't want to be known as an actress who always gets naked.

“I’d done nudity before and was concerned with being labeled for doing it again.”

  10. So Conor finally made a real statement - basically he's not retired but he's tired of promoting the **** out of his fights (which he has done at an unprecedented rate) while trying to prepare for a fight.  He feels he's earned the right to let the other fighters on the card do most of the promo stuff like he has done in the past.

They're cutting cabinet positions. My wife works for the province under Children and Youth Opportunities. She's keeping her job, but it's being moved and that department is disappearing. Not officially, but it's about a 99% certainty.

Yep, my wife's department is being merged with another one as well.  The names of some departments will be changing as well (like shortening Tourism, Culture, Heritage, Sport and Consumer Protection into something not so ridiculously long!)

    Mcgregor apparently made $1mill guaranteed to fight diaz at UFC 196 that was apparently historic as the most anyones ever gotten as a guaranteed purse in UFC history but that doesnt included his PPV bonuses, sponserships bonuses or fight night bonuses from the UFC;

    http://www.mmamania.com/2016/3/5/11164998/conor-mcgregor-will-take-home-1-million-purse-to-fight-nate-diaz-at

I wonder if the 10 mill is what hes asking as the guaranteed purse, before all the other money. I could see why UFC would say no, that's a pretty big jump especially coming off a loss

He expected to make over $10 million for that fight after all was said and done.  I haven't heard what he got in the end for it but maybe the UFC wasn't as generous that time around?  The UFC is trying to make UFC 200 the biggest card in their history so he wants to get paid accordingly.

I thought most of the top stars make a % cut from PPVs also?    Not to mention the under the table money they get to avoid the tax man....

Not all top guys get a ppv % - a guy like Dominick Cruz, for example, is a champion but he fights on more Fight Night cards than he does PPV so that wouldn't work so well for him.

The locker room bonus & PPV share is what brought Conor up to $8 million against Aldo.  His base pay for the fight was only 500k (he got an extra 50k for performance of the night & another 40k from Reebok).

Im quite torn.  If the options are Toronto or Edmonton, I really dont know who I'd prefer.

Edmonton (who I hope trades the pick & Nail for some immediate help)... the T.O. media circle jerk over Matthews for the next year would be horrid.

Wasn't only Brock and GSP getting 10 million per fight?   He's popular but not THAT popular yet....

Other than Ronda, Conor is the only fighter they have that brings in big numbers for the UFC.  2015 was their 3rd best year ever (in terms of PPV sales) with those 2 leading the way by far so he's definitely up there.  He also made $8 million for the Aldo fight so he's not far off as it is.

Brock & GSP also made a ton of sponsorship money, which is something Conor can't because of the Reebok deal.  Ronda makes more in endorsements/movies than Conor so he might be saying ok, since I can't/don't make that "bonus" money, my base pay needs to come up to equal things out a bit.

  16. There's more to it than that apparently.  He asked for the money but then also refused to come to Vegas to shoot promo stuff for the fight.   I don't normally side with the UFC in their contract issues with fighters but Conor can't have it both ways.

He deserves the money since he pulls in huge numbers for them but his name alone doesn't sell the fights, it's the promoting/hyping he does that makes people tune in, so if he's not willing to do that, he's not going to get that kind of money.
