I think it's silly to expect a rookie to play as well as the reigning MOP. Streveler played a decent game and threw more TDs than any other QB in week one. He certainly played a lot better than Drew Willy... I don't care what the stats say. The stats said Drew Willy was an all star in early 2016 but he lost his job because we all know that wasn't true.
-
Jennings had a good day running the ball against Montreal. I'd like to see Streveler do the same.
-
Mark Henry coming to town!
-
This final drive is classic Drew Willy. Get a meaningless TD to make the game look close but ultimately a loss is a loss. Never mind they couldn't even pull off the garbage time TD.
-
The problem is other top pick RFAs like Eichel and likely Matthews getting 10+. On one hand they are centres, on the other hand teams tend to pay more for goals than points and Laine was second in goals... one of only eight 40+ goal scorers last year. Trouba will get less than 8 but I'll be surprised if Laine comes in any lower than 9.

Man Jennings can really run when he finds some space.
-
Have they announced attendance at this game? Looks like 20k at best. Hard times in BC.
-
My guess is that they like a QB doing it for the fake potential. But Dressler was back holding after Ross got injured. I'd have a look at Bryant Moniz.

No one has more quality Canadians on defence than the Alouettes. Westerman brothers, Muamba, Chris Ackie, Jesse Joseph, Fabion Foote, Bo Banner, Dondre Wright. Solid.

Montreal OL does not look good so far. Big touchdown pass Drew Willy!

I'd like to see the Als win tonight but I don't want them to have momentum heading into their game against Winnipeg next week. I do expect the Als to have a very strong defence this season. The question mark is on Drew Willy. If he can somehow revive his career, the Als could make some noise. If he is same old Willy, they have no chance.
-
Yup. Just a bad decision under pressure. 28-14 Stamps. Predictable outcome.
-
Ouch. Masoli throws the game away. That's not going to help him keep the starting job. Actually thought he was playing okay until that pick.
-
Great drive by Masoli. Beauty deep pass to Mike Jones.
-
Or we could have been blown out if they hit the field goal and Fogg never gets a chance to return it. Lots could have gone differently but we can only really comment on what actually did happen.
-
He's really good at it but I've seen him get sacked before. He is not invincible. The problem here is that we are going to have to beat Reilly to win the Grey Cup. It's not okay that the DL got zero sacks because Reilly is evasive... I don't buy it. They simply have to be better.

I am not sold on Hamilton yet. Those six wins in the final ten last year were against weaker competition, in general. I don't think June Jones turned the team around just like that, and I don't think Masoli has much hope of holding onto the starting job beyond the first few games. I'd love to see Calgary take a step back but... people predict that every season and it never happens. 36-15 Stamps.

Zero sacks for the DL. Same thing we saw last year after Westerman got injured... this isn't a new issue or limited to one game. They can't finish. DEs getting into the backfield means nothing if they aren't bringing down the QB or forcing him into bad throws. Nevis looked good, I agree with that. The rest of the line was totally ineffective. It's really concerning.
-
Interior looked okay. I'm pretty confident in saying we have bottom 3 DEs though. Oko is as strong as a bull but his jump off the line is pathetically slow. Jeffcoat and Roh are basically the definition of the word average.
-
Yes but our DEs are not even close to being in the same class as Jefferson and Hughes. That's an issue.
-
Give us Charleston Hughes and Willie Jefferson at DE and things would improve by a large amount. Our DEs were not looking effective at all and that's not on Hall.
